Itinerary

Day 1
UK to Havana

Fly from the UK to Havana. On arrival you will be met by your local guide and check-in to your hotel.

Day 2
Havana

Today begins in Old Havana with a walking tour: wind your way along a network of cobbled streets, through wide squares, and past the faded grandeur of colourful colonial-era buildings. Stop at Floridita’s Bar, the renowned hangout of Ernest Hemingway, and enjoy one of the bar’s famous daiquiris. Visit the Rum Museum before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. Make your way to the city’s lively craft market in San Jose and browse through the multitude of stalls offering everything from linen shirts and cigars to paintings and musical instruments. In the afternoon, a panoramic tour in classic American cars ends in Revolution Square where a towering memorial pays homage to Jose Marti, a national hero, watched over by a steel mural of revolutionary Che Guevara.

Day 3
Havana

Enjoy a leisurely day at your own pace, whether you choose to unwind and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Havana or set out to discover more of the city's rich culture and history. You might stroll along the Malecón, visit a local café for a taste of Cuban coffee, explore hidden art galleries, or simply relax in one of the city’s charming plazas. The day is yours to enjoy however you please.

Day 4
Havana to Vinales

En route to Viñales, visit Las Terrazas, a small rural community set in the heart of a 25,000-hectare UNESCO-listed biosphere reserve. Explore one of the many trails that crisscross this verdant area as a local guide talks you through the local nature, community and history. After lunch at a local restaurant, see the spectacular eco-community of Soroa, whose natural beauty has earned it the name "Rainbow of Cuba". Wander the fragrant pathways of Soroa's botanical gardens, surrounded by the delicate foliage of over 700 orchid species. Continue to Vinales.

Day 5
Vinales

Visit a tobacco farm, growing some of the world’s finest tobacco using traditional farming methods that have existed in this valley for hundreds of years. Explore the tobacco plantation and farmhouse, where you can witness how Cuba’s famed cigars are toasted and rolled. Lunch is taken a local restaurant. A boat ride brings you downriver to Cueva del Indio, an otherworldly river cave that was once an ancient, indigenous dwelling, and continues to Mural de La Prehistoria, a 120-metre-long rock mural that took over four years to paint. Return to your hotel to enjoy a Cuban cocktail lesson.

Day 6
Vinales to Cienfuegos

Stop in Montemar Great Natural Park to see Guama Crocodile Breeding Farm and learn about their conservation efforts. Travel to Playa Giron to visit the Giron Museum and the Bay of Pigs, a popular beauty spot and site of a failed CIA-backed invasion of Cuba in 1961. End the day in Cienfuegos city.

Day 7
Cienfuegos to Trinidad

Spend the day sightseeing in Cienfuegos, known as the “pearl of the south” due to the beauty of its historic city centre. Visit the Parque Jose Marti, the main square lined with examples of the city’s architecture dating from the 19th- and 20th-centuries. See the Tomas Terry theatre, the Palacio Ferrer, and the Palacio de Valle before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant. Travel on to Trinidad.

Day 8
Trinidad

Depart for a walking tour in Trinidad. Admire the stately architecture and fascinating artefacts of the Romantic Museum, which offers a window into the world of Conde de Brunet, a wealthy sugar baron who once owned the building. Catch a glimpse of the pretty yellow and green bell tower of Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco, located a stone’s throw from the museum, as you continue to Bar La Canchanchara for a taste of the bar’s signature cocktail, made of local rum, honey, lemon and water. After lunch, drive to the UNESCO-listed Valley of the Sugar Mills and explore the Manaca Iznaga Watchtower.

Day 9
Trinidad to Havana

Transfer to Santa Clara, the centre of revolutionary Cuba. See the Che Guevara Square, Museum and Mausoleum - the memorial and resting place of Cuba’s revolutionary hero. Visit the Armoured Train Monument, home to remnants of military trains derailed during the Cuban Revolution. Admire the elegant neo-classical buildings which line the city's central park, Parque Vidal. After lunch, return to Havana and conclude your tour with a farewell dinner.
