Orka Lotus Beach

We visited Orka Lotus beach hotel in July, we went on a family holiday with 4 children. Location is good, room nice and clean. Negatives, to start off, when we arrived very late, there were no beds or cot for the children even when reception had been reminded before us arriving there. Then it took time for them to come. Found it very easy to get lost as no clear signs, everything too spaced out. Some places are hard to get around with a pushchair. Entertainment was very average and on far too late. Mini disco they sell these light up balloons and then say kids cant go on the stage where they dance. Same music night after night. Mix it up a bit. Entertainment staff not very engaging. Our room had a sea view which was lovely but when night came we could hear the local night club (owned by the hotel) playing very very loud music from 11pm and does not finsh until 4.30am!! This is every Friday and Saturday and 10pm until midnight on Tuesdays, this is totally unacceptable. Food was ok. Would not say it was all inclusive as they only have ice cream at certain times! Does not start until 8pm and one night they told us it would be 8.30pm. Children usually go for their meal earlier on and this is far too late. Waffles were only at 4pm and they were pre cooked and cold. Hotel needs some renovation, the decking walk way outside our room was rotting and is a danger. They make the lobby look very nice but shame the rest of the hotel does not follow. Spa staff are quite annoying and keep pestering you. Some sun beds are broken and need replacing also parasols. Unfortunately the negatives out weighed the positives. There are better hotels in the area and we would not return.

Came here for our summer holiday after visiting in the past 7 years ago and really enjoying ourselves. Unfortunately a lot has changed in the past few years and this will be our last visit. Firstly the hotel hasn’t had any maintenance or updates it looks tired and run down. We were surprised to find a lot of the furniture broken and left in use. An example of this is several of the chairs in the snack bars have holes in the base like someone’s foot has gone through it and they are just left for customers to use. In the evening entertainment area the chairs used to have cushions, these have now been removed and not replaced so you are sitting on hard rattan. A lot of the rattan tables have frayed badly. Around the main pool the glass balustrade is cracked on a few panels and left which is a health and safety issue as there is a 12ft drop the other side. The glass is also not cleaned so they are dusty and have water marks all over them. There’s cracked tiles everywhere and the sunbeds and umbrellas are very old. We emailed to request a quiet room and we were allocated a room in block 5 which was quiet. Some guests we spoke with were kept awake by the Icon bar (which the hotel owns) until 4am. The air con in our room was OK (all units are locked to prevent you selecting anything less than 20 degrees) however the rest of the hotels aircon is non existent it must have been about 25 degrees indoors so not much relief when it’s so hot. Food is generally good but the same every night but we generally all enjoyed the food. It’s not ultra all inclusive like a lot of turkey hotels. There is no international alcohol and the kids can’t have ice creams apart from someone coming round with a bowl of lolly’s at 2pm. The snack bar has nice food which is available for 5 hours however there aren’t enough tables downstairs for everyone to eat. The beach is lovely and the sea is amazing as well as the views. We didn’t get a cabana this time as it was over £200 for the day where as 7 years ago they were £90 they looked empty most of the time which is a false economy to me. The entertainment was ok but started late, they start the kids disco, kids game and then bingo at 9am -10 sometimes 10:30 so we generally went out instead. The entertainment team are nice and the kids enjoyed some of the activities. The location is good between Icmeler and Marmaris but both of places have exponentially expanded and lost some of their charm. Turkey is also no longer cheap and a meal for 4 now costs well over £100. All in all for what we paid £5k it was not value for money and you will easily find much better value in other places.
