This was our third visit to fortuna beach hotel and unfortunately will be our last. We had booked a suite room and on arrival had noticed the doors and internal decor had been upgraded to a high standard, so a good first impression. We love the beach that is close to the hotel and looked forward to this prior to arrival. When we collected the towels from reception on our first morning we were told we had to go onto Tiki beach as the hotel no longer had its own private area. When we arrived at the beach we headed near to the front and placed our towels down. One of the tiki beach staff came down and said they are for their guests, we were moved to the back of the beach despite offering to purchase food and drinks. This was the case for the full 14 days we were there and observed multiple guests being moved. The cleanliness in the hotel is overall good but the cleaning in our room was very poor. The floor was not mopped for the whole 2 weeks despite obviously needing it, the only time it was cleaned was when we spilt coffee on the floor. On our 2nd day there was an opened condom wrapper left on the floor in the bedroom which must have been brushed from under the bed and not moved, this was not ours. The rug in the living area was not cleaned for 2 weeks. The glass mirrored wardrobe doors had stains on from previous guests which we cleaned off ourselves. The food was very repetitive and tailored for the turkish guests who were in the hotel. There was not a great selection for customers with a western palette. The staff in the restaurant and bar areas were excellent and could not be faulted. The entertainment was arranged by Ash and although he is a great guy he needs to understand there are guests to be entertained, not just himself. Turkish rap is not to everyone's taste and some guests may like to dance instead of him. The noise around the hotel is very loud until the 12.30pm curfew with 3 hotels within close proximity trying to be the loudest. We had a late flight so asked to keep our room on to shower after being on our last beach day. We were told the hotel was full and we could shower in the spa area. We asked at reception for towels when we were ready to be told there were non for us. We told them we had been told we could and some magically appeared. The showers were in the sauna area and we came out sweatier than we had gone in. Not a great last day experience. The highlight of the hotel is the spa area where we had the last day package. This was great value and so relaxing, would highly recommend this experience. Overall I would say this hotel has lost a lot of what made it great especially the beach area. I feel for some great staff working there but the negatives mean we would not return.
Great hotel, unfortunately our holiday was spoilt by being woken by a cockerel every morning
This is our second stay at the Fortuna and we were not disappointed. The staff are amazing and remembered us from the previous year, which we found very welcoming. The food was excellent had nothing to complain about. It is not five star but you always find something nice to eat. We had lamb, poached salmon, Koftas and roast beef and some amazing chicken dishes and every morning they would make a fresh omelette which was lovely. The fresh fruit and salad daily was very welcomed and the desserts were really nice.
The room itself was perfect spotlessly clean and lovely and cool and the maids would come in daily and ask if we wanted the room serviced. The view from balcony was exceptional. We were in room 407 and would highly recommend. The music could be a little loud but that was not the hotel fault as it was from venues in surrounding area. Doors did a good job of dulling sound and it didn't go on too late
The only difference this year was their private beach wasn’t available and they had a deal with the Tiki Bar next door where you could use beds for free. Staff there always welcomed you with a smile and again they work tirelessly.
All In All I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we are looking at going back again next year.
Would just like to say thank you to Mehmet and his team in the restaurant who worked tirelessly, never left a dirty plate on table or left your drink empty and to Ali the photographer who always stopped to say hello, to the bar staff who always remember your drinks, to the lady and gentlemen. ( don't know names) on the reception who were always friendly and welcomed you with a smile and to all the cleaners who went out of the way to say hello with a big smile every morning and they would even say hello when they passed me in the street.
And thanks to the Tech guy who helped me with fire-stick.
Its becoming a home from home and love it there. Broken a habit of a lifetime and returning to same hotel multiple times which never done before. .
Lovely hotel. great staff and location.
The staff were amazing making the atmosphere relaxed, fun and friendly. As a result they have lots of people that come year after year.
The location is beautiful and the views from the hotel balcony one of the best I have seen. There is a lovely beach very close with free sunbeds and sensibly priced drinks. Etc and Its only a very short walk to bars etc
I wasn't sure whether to book because there was a lot of mention of barbecues on the website, we are vegetarian and was worried thst it would be too meat orientated. The meals were a little hit and miss for vegetarians and were not labelled as vegetarian or not so needed to ask sometimes. But the salads and great pizza's filled any gap, we never went hungry, the food was very good quality and the restaurant staff were ready to help if there was a problem.
Stayed at this hotel 3 yrs in a row this Yr I would not recommend i will not go back food terrible hotel needs updating and cleaners are not doing there job dirty baths and glass balcony dont get cleaned and a reception dont listen bar staff and dinning room stsff are still great but cater more for turkish now spoke to a lot couples and they won't go back either shame because it was a great hotel
