Had a great trip. 2 adults, 4 kids.
Hotel is kept clean and welcoming. Good variety of food options.
Good variety of activities on during the day, animation staff friendly and fun.
Great holiday with my son
Father and son solo trip and hotel staff where great, our room wasn’t perfect at first but staff moved us to a much more suitable room without any issues.
Very friendly staff and very clean hotel
So now the cases are all un packed and the washing is out on the line it’s time for an honest review of how I felt our weeks stay at the Sherwood went.
Family of 4, kids are 12 and 8.
On arrival the check in was a late one, we had booked the family room to give us a bit of extra space, check in was fine if not a bit rushed by the receptionist but there was no issue there, everyone was tired.
The room itself was fine for layout, we had a corner room, the balcony was huge….double bed for adults and 2 singles for the kids. My main issue (which is a recurring theme for the entire hotel ) was that although everything was functional, it could really do with a touch up a little bit of maintenance and attention to detail.
Room issues.
Stains at the bottom of the tv wall on the tiles, the floating shelf on said tv wall was gripping on for dear life, both the toilet roll holder and spare holder were literally removable from the wall, tv wall itself looked rough with broken edges, fridge is awful, such an old unit which probably chucks out even more heat out the back of it for the air con to compete against. Air con did work though.
The shower is presentable enough but the water pressure is terrible! I wondered if this was down to saving water but by the time it takes to get hot the volume of wasted water is incredible.
The worst issue were the exposed wires behind the table side sockets - thankfully my kids are old enough to understand the danger and once told stayed clear but this is totally unacceptable and could have horrific consequences for children amd adults alike.
Hotel in general.
The main lobby is bright, fresh and has quite a nice atmosphere in the evening. Table service is decent too.
Travel further round the complex you may start to see where things can be improved. Old water stains pealing away the paint and almost plaster from the spa roof, a towel left on the floor to catch water running down a wall, water guttering around the pool either missing or broken, urinals at the pool toilets blocked, poor finishing to everything that involves silicone, small stones on the bottom of the main pool - especially under the walk over (understandable but again could be sorted)
The pool is spacious and never really feels over crowded. (1.4m all the way round) steps in and out can be mega slippy, (it’s a pool, to be expected) but there is a hand rail for aid. At the bridge bar entrance half the problem are guests hanging around that area, this can make it a bit tricky on entry and exit.
The Water slides and water park area is brilliant! Our kids loved it, as did we!
Food and drink.
We never struggled with either, breakfast and dinner in the main buffet was pleasant enough, although it was getting busier the day before we left and did notice it can be slightly crowded - always food available though from, what I saw.
Lunch was either a pizza at the beach front or a kebab/chips grabbed from the take away area - you won’t go hungry here, maybe repetitive but always available.
Drinks at the bar were also ok, ask for top brands and it’s never an issue - the bridge bar at the pool could do with 2 staff on it to help at peak times but if there is a wait it is never for too long, there are also fridges topped up with bottles of water and beer which help.
Staff.
The hotel staff here are incredibly hard worked but they are also what may actually save a guests experience. Everyone we spoke to or asked for help were absolutely superb and a true credit to the hotel.
This is a hotel that the kids will love, adults too if the little things were addressed and maintained. Would we return? No. Was it value for money? Probably just….
Unfortunately it’s not a 4 star hotel by any means in my eyes but we all had an enjoyable stay.
Everyone is incredibly friendly, and it's very family-friendly. It's the perfect place for children. The price is excellent for what this hotel offers. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend it! The kids' club is fantastic for children, and the staff are amazing. The ladies who work there are very friendly and always keep the children engaged with fun and creative activities.
Family of 4 with a 3 and 7 year old. Lovely hotel, sofa bed in our room very hard but 3 year old didn’t complain! Food a little bit repetitive and quite oily but large selection of salads. Water park great onsite. Not much to do nearby within walking distance. Land of legends a must day out. Kids club was the highlight of the hotel , both kids loved it and all felt very safe. The set up was brilliant, really big custom build inside/outside area and the staff absolutely brilliant. 10/10 for the kids. Kiya, Uliya,Aziza, Anita, Diana and Juliia deserve a special mention , thank you!
