Beautiful resort, but not 5-star for us
We’ve just spent a week at Asteria Family Resort and, while we had a lovely holiday overall, there were some definite pros and cons.
The positives: The resort itself is beautiful, with huge green grounds and gorgeous pools. Despite being there in August, it never felt overly busy and we never struggled for sunbeds. The coffee bar and pool snack bar was excellent and the air conditioning in our room was brilliant. My children absolutely loved the water slides also! There was also a lovely private pool in our apartment block, which was a hit!
Unfortunately, the Family Duplex really let the hotel down. It felt tired and nowhere near 5-star quality, with plug sockets coming away from the walls, broken blinds, shutters that didn’t work, huge cobwebs and an unpleasant sewage/drain smell. The bathrooms also need updating, with tiling and grouting very unkempt and the children's beds were two pull-outs rather than proper beds. The duplex stairs are quite steep too — I actually fell down them during our stay and injured myself quite badly.
Our arrival wasn't great either. We arrived at the advertised 3 pm check-in time but waited around an hour for our room, which wasn't ideal with three tired children. We were then given the hotel information sheet in German, so initially couldn't make much sense of where everything was!
Food was another disappointment for us. Obviously this is very subjective, but we found much of it extremely salty and not particularly suited to our tastes. We did really enjoy the freshly cooked Turkish kebabs once we found them as everything is quite spread out. The waffle/pancake stations could be chaotic, with long queues and people pushing in. On one occasion we waited around 20 minutes with hungry children only for them to suddenly stop serving.
We also didn't find this the friendliest resort we've stayed at, although of course that's just our personal experience.
Overall, the grounds, pools and facilities are fantastic and we still had an enjoyable holiday, but the tired accommodation, food and lack of attention to detail mean we personally wouldn't rate Asteria as a true 5-star resort. With some TLC, particularly to the duplex rooms, it could be excellent.
As a final point, my daughter was bitten by one of the stray cats wandering the restaurant on our final day, which resulted in numerous vaccines on return to the UK, therefore DON'T STROKE THR CATS.

Would not return due to poor staff experience
The hotel overall has large green grounds with good size pools and slides for children. However for half of my stay, the best slide remained closed. Entertainment around the pool is average but they do try. We stayed in the family duplex room and it was decent but we didn't like the toilet being exposed by blinds that could be opened from the outside! Belek city centre is a 25 minute walk away and has some shops to wander around in. Food was average but there was a variety. Waffle/crepe queues were very long so I could not always get any. My main complaint would be that I had the worst experience with a member of the spa team called Murat who was extremely aggressive and rude towards me as a British Muslim woman and made a number of racist comments just because I asked if there were deals for two people. His colleague was equally rude and customer service is not something they know much about at all. His manner and tone were appalling and unfortunately I had to make a complaint. The complaint was dealt with swiftly by the hotel and the spa manager did attempt to resolve the situation to some extent by offering me a gift at the spa which I accepted. However, I have to say with staff like this working in a 5 star hotel, I would never want to return or recommend this place.

Not a 5* hotel
We've just come back from Asteria with our 13 year old daughter and our friends with children aged 14 and 17 and found it a pleasant but average stay. The room in particular was disappointing . It was quite dated and dark as there were no ceiling lights in the rooms only lamps which made it quite difficult to get ready at night! We had a couple of issues with the room which we reported and were fixed but it's not what you expect from a 5* star hotel. The food was pretty average and repetitive..queues were long for crepes/pancakes/eggs which got annoying. There didn't seem to be enough staff for the size of the hotel and I think its the first time I've been to a hotel where there was no relationship with the waiters or reps. Most 5* hotels I've stayed in offer waiter service around the pool which we didn't get here. The relax pool with the swim up bar was lovely..we really enjoyed it around there and the slides in the main pool were good fun. The entertainment was good for 4/5 nights of the 10 we stayed. The bar areas were good and the drinks were better than some hotels I've been too. The grounds of the hotel were well kept and we liked the access to the beach. Overall we enjoyed our holiday but the hotel itself was average and we expected more for what we paid.
Brilliant holiday
So much to say about this hotel where do I start!
Staff As soon as we arrived late the staff at reception were happy to let us know food was being served it was 11.30pm and the lobby bar was open until 12. This is where we met the best staff of the whole trip lobby bar Aran (Sorry think this isn’t correct spelling) he made us all feel welcome every day great drinks each time. He really takes time to know his guests taught my son to make his fav cocktail. Hasan in the restaurant my son has multiple food allergies. Hasan went out of his way daily to make my son feel comfortable and go though each food. He even went to effort on a day off to let me know and the person on duty the next day greeted Kobe and again made him feel at ease. This meant the world to all of us and really helped us relax at dinner times which could have been stressful! Also should add food is lovely yes some nights it’s repeated main dishes but always something different. Be sure to check restaurant out across the hotels as each slightly different. The being at the main hotel. Day snacks change across hotels too. You have to try the wraps at the quiet hotel snack bar yummy. Over all though all staff lifeguards included where lovely.
The hotel is set out over three sites quiet hotel garden hotel and the main site which has all entertainment and quicker access to beach and the private beach area.
No need to put out towels there are so many sunbeds over all hotels but you will find the pool you like the most.
The hotel is clean tidy housekeeping comes in daily they are also all wonderful if you want a lay in they do come Back later.
Beach towels changed daily just go to spa to do this.
Family holiday kids ages 18, 15 and 11 with the different things going on no one was ever fed up.
