This spacious complex is located at the heart of the trendy tourist area of Playa Blanca, a charming fishing village to the south of Lanzarote. The complex enjoys close proximity to a wealth of attractions in the area, including Costa de Papagayo and El Golfo. The hotel is situated just 400 metres away from Playa Dorada Beach, and the luxurious Marina Rubicon. This wonderful complex blends effortlessly with its charming surroundings. The accommodation options are superbly designed, offering a peaceful, relaxed setting in which to escape the rest of the world. This complex's exemplary service, first-class facilities and peaceful, homely atmosphere sets it apart as a prime option for visitors to the area.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Stayed in a junior suite. Room was very spacious, fridge, kettle and air con in lounge , tvs in lounge and bedroom, free safe in bedroom. A large bathroom with shower gels. Towels changed and rooms cleaned daily. Our cleaner - Jacqueline,( I think), was excellent. Refundable deposit on pool towels , €10 each, good quality and can change regularly. Had a problem with air con at first, maintenance men were very efficient and after a few problems sorted it out. All staff here work hard, really pleasant. Faty was really helpful on reception, Denis very friendly and efficient in restaurant and bar. Food was good, plenty of choice and fresh fish/ meat cooked to order. Lovely salads , desserts and fresh omelettes at breakfast. Everywhere was clean and ongoing maintenance was evident. Pools were ideal for a decent swim, we preferred the quieter one, usually sun beds were available, although some people reserved with their towels for hours, without turning up - frustrating. Location was ok, a little further out from the town than we usually prefer, but was a shuttle bus to the beach twice a day, if needed. Not much going on in the evenings re entertainment but we like going into the town.
The hotel has lovely grounds and rooms are reasonably comfortable. Staff were also helpful. It is about a 15 minute walk to the beach.
Meals were reasonably varied and mostly reasonable in terms of quality. As with lots of these hotels, it dining has a bit of a canteen feel. The restaurant would benefit from access to plates that were warm/hot. Putting warm food on a cold plate means by the time you get back to your table, the food is also often cold. The restaurant was at least managed in a bit more relaxed manner than other hotels we've used in the Canaries as guests seemed to have access to all available drinks and there wasn't someone hovering to catch out someone with the 'wrong' coloured band.
There wasn't a lot of (any?) entertainment while we stayed and the night time bar had absolutely no atmosphere.
Our major concern was the lack of soundproofing in the rooms. It honestly felt like there was someone else in your room as you could hear everything. We wouldn't return for that reason alone.
The THB Royal hotel is a very good option for staying in Playa Blanca. I booked here on the basis that it offered great value for money; you trade a slight walk to the beach area in exchange for a better price. I would highly recommend this hotel as it is clean, comfortable, and relatively quiet.
The Beach: It is only about a 10-minute walk from the hotel to either the town centre or Playa Dorada.
Amenities. A major bonus is the Aldi supermarket right next door. This is very handy for picking up drinks or anything you need for breakfast and lunch—especially since, like most of Spain, it is very inexpensive.
Transfer & Arrival The transfer from the airport only took about 35 minutes. Because the hotel is situated slightly on the outskirts, it was the very first drop-off point. This was brilliant, as there was no touring around Playa Blanca for hours before arriving. Hotel Facilities & Atmosphere Most people seem to stay here on a room-only basis, as I did.
The Pools. There are two pools to make use of. One is a designated quiet pool, which was mostly adhered to apart from a few teenage lads in the early afternoon. I don't think the hotel was entirely full during my stay. There was no big fight for sunbeds, and there was plenty of space in all of the public areas.
The Room. A bit of an odd one all the way at the back. 851 with its own stairs access. But great for me. Quiet, 2 balconies, good air conditioning and big bathroom with a good shower. Also had a fridge to store drinks and lunch snakcs. Some English TV channels a bonus! Slight annoyance was wifi occasionally patchy.
What an amazing experience!! When we first arrived at the hotel, we were shocked at how stunning it was. I'd argue that it's even better in person!! The rooms were huge and very clean everyday. We did self-catering and the drinks were very well priced. There was also a range of restaurants and shops on the beach front, about a 8-10 minute walk away from the hotel. Honestly, we are already looking to book again.
I'd also like to give a special shoutout to Richard (the activity leader and the entertainer). He was absolutely amazing, and made our experience. We were never bored when he was around, both during the day and night. We really did form a truly special friendship, and I'd like to thank him for that.
We booked knowing it was a three star review so didn’t expect much, however we were so pleasantly surprised. The staff were so kind, friendly and hardworking. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean, the beds were comfy and the shower was great. We had a room with a balcony looking over the pool, it was so nice to sit and relax on in the evening and I thought it was the perfect size. The food was incredible we looked forward to every meal each day, it became a little repetitive however we were there for 7 nights so that not on the hotel at all. What I really liked was that there was always a pizza and pasta option, which gave me reassurance. The favour on the food was unreal, it was always cooked perfectly and there was quite a bit to choose from (my boyfriend specifically loved the amount of different desserts). We booked all inclusive which was easiest for us, and we are so glad we did so we got to enjoy more of the food. The pool was chilly when you first get in but once you got used to it the temperature was perfect, very refreshing after sitting in the sun. The beach is only a 10 minute walk away with a supermarket being 5 however there was a shop on site with everything we needed so didn’t need to venture unless we wanted to. With the food bar at the pool often there wasn’t a member of staff with, but if you asked they would come straight away which we personally didn’t have an issue with. The pool area was always clean and tidy, seeing the staff work so hard to tidy it up at the end of the day!! We heard the music late only one of the nights we stayed, but again this is something we are not bothered by it’s part of the experience. The one thing that stood out to us the most was the staff, you could tell how hardworking they are and the kindness we truly appreciated. I definitely think it’s a great value of money we got everything we could need as well as food when we arrived as it was late at night, this little detail was so appreciated. Sometimes on holiday it can be a tense atmosphere but I’ve never felt so relaxed as I did here. Let’s just say we will 100% be coming back next year, this hotel deserves more than 3 stars.
