Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
This 4-star hotel is ideally located on the beachfront of Las Coloradas, between Playa Blanca village and Papagayo Beach, on the south coast of Lanzarote. From the hotel you can enjoy stunning views of Fuerteventura and Lobos Island. The hotel offers guests a free shuttle service to Playa Dorada Beach four times a day.
A good hotel, located near Playa Mujeres and Papagayo beach which is a further walk. There's a dirt track which you can take and I managed to reach the beach in 15 minutes. There is no shelter and it's very hot so take a sun shade if you can and plenty of water as there are no shops.
Hotel is fine, not sure about some reviews, I did read about staff removing towels on beds which have been reserved stupidly early and was happy about that, but unfortunately not seen this happen once. Yesterday 4 beds were "reserved" for EIGHT HOURS, this is while people are clearly looking for somewhere to sit, this needs looking at. It's quite easy as the ones with just a blue towel and nothing else are the ones you can action.
Food is good, always something on, and the pizza is pretty good. No queues at the buffet and always managed to get a table.
Fusion restaurants were good, the white and rose were not great, maybe the red is better? If not get some lemonade, this worked.
Shops onsite sell inflatables and balls which are everywhere, no issues as kids love it.
Marina Rubicon is not far, we had a car so could drive there, you can walk via the promenade or the hotel has a bus that goes twice a day.
There is a little shopping precinct a few minutes away with a souvenir shop, supermarket and pool toys shop, but you can get all of this onsite at the hotel.
Entertainment is good, some acts better than others. The queue at the pool bar, which is where the evening entertainment takes place, can be long, drinks are okay and staff all over the hotel are brilliant.
Overall a good hotel, can't fault it, kids love it and spent many an evening playing hide and seek with friends they'd made.
Return visit to Sandos Papygayo (July 2026)
This was our third visit to this hotel as a family of 2 adults and a 15 year old boy. We had a 2nd floor superior sea view room, good size balcony and nice view across the stoney beach towards fuertaventua. We have previously been on higher floors which i definitely preferred and did request this prior to arrival however unfortunately this was not granted. Also we were asked for our hotel voucher (jet 2) which i didn't print this time as hadn't been asked previously and had to waste some time trying to email this to the hotel.
Our room was right next to the lifts and we got used to the noise as the week went on. Based on previous stays the rooms are starting to look a bit dated however they are cleaned daily. Sofa bed where teenager slept quite uncomfortable and had to use the spare duvets to as a mattress topper. Air conditioning worked well.
Sunbeds at the pools were reserved by 9am and we missed out on our first 2 days - i dont remember this being such an issue on our previous stays. Some tiling work being completed around the sunbathing areas however limited noise and did not affect the holiday at all.
The snack bar had a great choice for kids/teenagers. No complaints about the restaurant, lots of choice and all fresh. This hotel has self service wine/beer/juice which means no waiting. The upstairs/sports bar is modern and a nice place to spend time in the evening. Evening entertainment is good for all the family. Staff are friendly and hardworking.
Papygayo beaches over the hill from the horel are worth a visit - remember and take water. You can kayak there with the watersports based at the hotel, £25 per person for 2 hours. Taxi to playa blanca around 6€, ferry to fuertaventua was 120 € return for three people. Taxi from the airport was around 60€. Playa Blanca markets at the marina is on Wednesday and Saturday and again worth a visit and a beautiful walk from the hotel.
We will return to this hotel for a 4th time, it is a relaxing, family friendly hotel.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional stay! Huge shoutout to Narain! We had an absolute blast at Sandos Papagayo, but the absolute highlight of our trip was Narain from the children's entertainment team! He went completely above and beyond for our family. Not only did he keep the kids laughing and engaged the whole time, but he even took the time out of his day to take us all snorkeling in the clear waters right by the hotel! That kind of personal touch and genuine care is so rare to find. Narain made our holiday unforgettable with his friendly energy, incredible warmth, and fun-loving personality. If you're traveling as a family, you're in the best hands with him. Thank you, Narain! 🌟 human review absolute 10/10!
i had recently travelled to sandos Papagayo and i think it was definitely one of my best holidays!! Mostly for the amazing memories that have been made. My holiday would not have been the same without the young man working there for the children’s entertainment team, Narain, who was the most kind hearted person i’ve ever met with such a warm soul and was amazing at his job🙌. He was very good to my family and we made great friends with him and an unforgettable experience that i will forever cherish. i truly believe i wouldn’t have enjoyed my experience as much as i did if Narain was not there. This hotel is very lucky to have such a lovely young man who works hard and makes everyone around him happy. i would like to request for him to have a pay rise as all he done for us and for future family’s to know there in the best of hands⭐️! i hope his family are proud of him and all the hard work he does they genuinely raised such a beautiful soul🫶🏻
kind regards preeya x
Currently here on a 10 night family holiday, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 10 and 5. Hotel is clean and tidy but a little dated in places. We stayed in G block facing the pool. Very very noisy room. If its not the immediate neighbours making noises, people walking down the corridor or people above, then it's the outdoor entertainment. We asked to move to a quiet room but we're told none were available.
The food is bang average for a 4 star hotel. I've had better quality and greater variety in 3 star hotels. There is no dedicated kids section and our kids struggled to find something they liked.
Location is great for access to the Papagayo beaches but a long way from Playa Blanca town centre. The beach at the front of the hotel is very rocky so bring water shoes.
The worst thing about the hotel and the main reason I have given a 3 star review is the pool entertainment staff and the lifeguards. I understand Spain has laxer health and safety rules but this hotel is simply dangerous. The organised pool events are dangerous, specifically the inflatable session. Multiple kids on the inflatable slide at once, no management by the staff. Kids jumping on top of other kids. Kids doing somersaults off the inflatables. The entertainment staff cut around shirtless chatting up teenage girls. No clue who the entertainment staff are half the time as they blend in with the shirtless crowd.
The lifeguards spend more time playing on their phones than they do watching the pools. My daughter was injured twice on this trip, once requiring a trip to hospital. Entertainment staff and lifeguards had no clue despite my daughter being covered in blood and screaming. It took me shouting for help to get their attention. They administered very basic first aid, spoke over me and my terrified daughter in Spanish and eventually said go to the hotel doctor who is private and wanted paying. The second injury was a sharp loose pool tile that badly cut her toe. Again blood everywhere staff and lifeguards had no clue, we asked for help but they speak little English and arrived with no first aid kit. When they did eventually administered first aid the lifeguard used Google translate to berate us for helping our daughter without rubber gloves on.
We certainly won't be booking again.
