This sophisticated resort is located on the south of the island of Lanzarote, in front of the sea and only 10 kilometres from Timanfaya National Park and around 900 metres from the picturesque fishing village of Playa Blanca. Upon arrival we were like this hotel looks amazing! Walking in to the church and hearing the monks was wow! Then seeing the entrance where reception was wow again! And the location is perfect right on the Rubicón Marina it’s ideal. The hotel staff were really welcoming and we were each given a complimentary glass of wine and chocolates (non alcoholic for the kids) The porter showed us to our rooms and helped us unloaded our cases into each of them. Our hotel room was nice and spacious and very clean, we received a complimentary pool bag and my youngest son was given a teddy camel and a gift box. Cleaners come in once a day ( a few days we was missed) but beds made, general clean up, toilet rolls etc. Again a selection of toiletries were given shower cap, tooth brush and paste, razors and combs. Water/ice machines are great and dotted around the hotel making it easier for you to refill your water bottles when needed and also free water is an added bonus.
The hotel grounds are well looked after and within the hotel it is very nice and clean. There is a lot of levels to the hotel, slopes and stairs. But it is beautiful the white buildings, with the main volcano looking building, the church and the pools on the different levels.
We were bed and breakfast and there was so much variety available to us, from full English, continental, cereals, jams and spreads even a little alcoholic beverage if you wanted one. Credits to Abraham in the restaurant and Hassan in the pool bar both of these are very friendly, chatty and go that extra mile to make you smile.
I would say this hotel is perfect for couples and unfortunately we are a family of five being two teenagers and a 10 year old. Now the main pool is amazing, cold but amazing. But when it is silent (and I mean you could hear a pin drop) around pool being most people are couples sunbathing it makes you feel on edge when your kids are playing and jumping in.
It is good that two pools ( a lot smaller than the main pool) are heated giving you the option if you’s wanted a slightly warmer pool.
Unfortunately we found a fair amount of people place their towels on the sun beds and disappear for hours and again trying to find five sun beds together was tough some days. There is actually an area within the hotel for in sun bathing which isn’t around the pool.
There’s not much for the children to do other than a single pool table, a kids club for younger kids or a single climbing frame. No music around the pools just quiet. No entertainment for them only a different singer each for a hour or so.
There are life guards at each pool and if i am completely honest I am not sure why some of them are there. One lifeguard basically had his back to half the pool so If anyone did need help he wouldn’t be able to see them anyways. With that on one day I found a condom floating within the large pool. Clearly shows the lifeguards can’t see the whole of the big pool. Just a thought but maybe there should be one either side and not just sat facing one way. We informed them of what we found but seemed very disinterested. I will give credit where credit it due and one of the lifeguards (younger male sorry I didn’t get his name) but he seemed genuinely interested in his job, he was interacting with my kids, smiling and laughing. You could actually see him watching and making sure everyone was ok.
It’s a very relaxed vibe here, check out is 12 which is good as there is no rushing around. We stayed around the pool as our transfer wasn’t untill 7.30pm. There is somewhere to store your luggage and also showers with shampoo and body wash in the toilets so you are able freshen up before you leave.
Now with all that being said I would return to the hotel as a whole the hotel Is amazing. I would just wait until my children are all grown and I would return with just me and my husband as this place is perfect for couples not families.
We have stayed here many times but have not been back for a few years. We were not disappointed, the peace and tranquility was just what we needed to unwind. We had a lovely welcome at reception and a glass of bubbly. We were upgraded which was fantastic as we were celebrating our Golden wedding anniversary. On arrival at our room we had balloons champagne and chocolates to celebrate our milestone anniversary. We were on half board and the food was fresh and delicious, all the staff were brilliant friendly and welcoming. Usually we do not spend a lot of time at the hotel, but this time we did as it was so quiet and peaceful. We definitely will be back and thank you all for making our special break with you memorable
10/10 beautiful hotel and amazing food, there is an adults only section but it was full however the hotel is so big you have lots of private space. Very close to markets on wed and Saturday and an easy walk to the town and local bars, staff are super nice and the place is really just beautiful and chill
We stayed at the Volcan in August 2026 as a family of 4 children aged 10 and 15. On booking there was a disclaimer about building works being carried out at the time so I was worried it would be noisy. I needn’t have panicked it was very quiet surprisingly so. We arrived and walking through the chapel to reception to our welcome glass of champagne was welcomed and non alcoholic version for the kids. Check in was fine. The rooms we had were facing the pool and lovely and spacious you received your own LIVVO beach/canvas bag which was a nice touch. Rooms provided toiletries, razors, comb, toothbrush , slippers. Robes etc. you are also provided with beach towels which you can change regularly. The room layout is good but I still can’t figure out why the telephone was in the toilet LOL. Not the most thought out thing. (Loved the ice and water machines dotted around they are sorely missed) There were a few families from all nationalities staying and everyone was friendly and welcoming. However I wouldn’t really class this as a family types place not a lot of entertainment for children or activities for them. They did have a drumming lesson event for the younger children whilst we were there. But nothing else. No music around the pool. No atmosphere. Small pool bar near the heated kids pool. Not a lot for children so they can easily get bored. There is a gym and spa but I never used. It was quite small when I looked. There are a lot of quiet areas dotted around there are comfy beds but these have no shade near them. They also need a few more umbrellas near that pool. You can go directly to the marina through the hotel gates and there you will find designer shops and an array of restaurants. Some need booking or you will wait forever. The market is on 2 days a week. There is a Hiperdino supermarket where you can top up on drinks and food. Playa dorado beach is about a 10-15 min walk away but it’s a lovely sandy beach and has lots of restaurants. It is so easy to stay on the complex as it’s lovely peaceful resort with no rush for sunbeds at any time but I’d say to go out and have a look. The staff were very pleasant and nice. Breakfast was great lots of choice. Omelettes made to order, full English, cereals, fresh fruits, salmon, breads cheese hams etc. Cleaners were Ok came most days we had a cuddly toy disappear from our room so I had to email the reception to query how. It was ‘found’ after a few days so that’s the main point. The Oasis bar in the marina was good fun but the area itself as a whole was much quieter than I was expecting. Met a few people that made it more fun. I would recommend to couples and family with children that don’t need to be continuously entertained or they will struggle. I would return but hope my next stay at the Volcan would be as good or better.
We had a lovely week at the hotel. All staff were lovely and friendly. Especially the bar man Hassan who was very talkative and helpful.
