HL Club Playa Blanca

The animation team have been fab. Very welcoming for my daughter who has severe learning disabilities.

HL playa blanca - stayed as a family of four with two teens.

First impressions - poor. Reception and exterior need some attention and updating. Staff were friendly and helpful enough when we arrived.

Rooms - we booked a two bed bungalow. We loved having the extra space. The rooms were clean and had plenty of storage and a spacious outdoor patio. Really pleased with our room.

Food - all pretty good. We found something at every meal and fresh pizzas from a pizza oven most evenings were a bonus. Themed evenings kept the choices from being too repetitive. Gazpacho at lunch was delicious! The dining space was kept clean by hard working staff.

Drinks - again, pretty reasonable. Cava is on the all inclusive as are some cocktails. The beer was pretty good.

Gym - I used this three times. Air con isn’t great so I’d go early or later on. Equipment is pretty good. Take a towel or you have to hire one. Under 16’s not allowed.

Entertainment - disappointing that some daytime activities are 14+. The team work really hard to offer entertainment all day, every day (except Sunday). They were friendly and approachable and did their best at all times. Sadly, evenings were a bit disappointing - bingo, karaoke and adults playing musical chairs is not our idea of “entertainment”. The show by the team (greatest showman) was a really good effort and the white party was fun - otherwise I’d recommend heading out somewhere for the night.

Location - ok. 10 min walk to the bus station, beach, supermarket and an ale hop. It’s a 30 min walk to the local market on a sat/weds and the harbour is very pretty - well worth a stroll.

Pool - this was our only real gripe. If you want a subbed with some shade (umbrellas dont move) you need to be putting your towels out by 7am. It’s ridiculous. We stayed for 11 nights and never saw any staff move towels reserving sun beds, despite signs saying they would. We watched as one family reserved five sun-beds and used them for one hour all day (an hour after breakfast and then they went to the pub to watch the football).

Would we stay again? No. We don’t go on holiday to get up earlier than we would for work, just so we have somewhere to sit by the pool. The hotel really need to rethink their approach during peak season - we’ve been to plenty of hotels that manage to stop people reserving sunbeds (and not using them!) consistently well. Based on this alone, we won’t be coming back. That said, I’m sure this is a great place to stay outside of school holidays when sunbeds are less in demand.

Firstly, there is no way in the world this is a 4 star, it’s 3 at best.

The food is awful, I’ve stayed in numerous 4 star all inclusive’s over the years and the food in this one is by far the worst. i don’t come to an all inclusive and expect gourmet food but I do expect it to be better than school dinners.

The WIFI cost us 70 Euro for a family, which is an absolute liberty.

The bungalows are dated but nice enough and the grounds of the hotel are lovely and it’s lovely to sit outside your bungalow in the evening.

The sunbed situation is a farce, they’re all reserved by 7am most days by people laying their towels on the beds. We mentioned this to reception on the first day and they told us they remove them. This is an absolute lie, I never saw it happen once.

The reception staff are in the main rude and not great ambassadors for the hotel.

I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone nor would I return.
