This complex is located in the resort of Playa Blanca, very close to the white sandy beaches of the area, 500 m from the town centre and about 30 km from the airport.
This apartment hotel comprises a total of 297 apartments, a garden and a terrace. Facilities on offer to guests include a lobby, a hotel safe, a currency exchange facility and a newspaper stand. There is a games room at guests' disposal and the younger ones will be entertained at the kids' club. The complex also offers a café, a bar and a restaurant. Guests can take advantage of the room and laundry services for an additional fee and they will also find a bicycle hire station on the premises.
All apartments come with a private bathroom with a shower/bathtub and a hairdryer and offer double beds. They are equipped with a direct dial telephone, satellite/cable TV, a radio, a safe and a kitchenette with a fridge. All accommodation units feature either a balcony or a terrace.
There are sun loungers and parasols available for hire on the sandy/pebble beach.
Guests may select their breakfast from a buffet and the midday and evening meals may be enjoyed à la carte. In addition, the evening meal can be enjoyed in buffet form.
Although this hotel was advertised as a 4-star hotel, I understand that its official rating is only 2 stars. I would therefore like to understand how TUI has awarded it a 4-star rating.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were kept waiting in a queue for approximately 45 minutes just to receive our room key. When we eventually made our way to the room, my wife was confused as we had to cross a road to get there. We were not aware that this was still considered part of the hotel complex.
On entering the room, we immediately found two cockroaches on the beds. We later found cockroach spray underneath the sink, which suggested that there was already an issue with cockroaches in the room. The room itself was also very untidy and clearly in need of repairs, when moving a maintenance person was in the room, making repairs.
The location of the room was particularly disappointing. It was separated from the main part of the hotel and felt more like something from a budget holiday camp than a 4-star resort.
The following morning, we spoke to the TUI representative and also reported our concerns through the TUI website. Later that afternoon, we were offered another room. We appreciated being moved, as we had made it clear that we could not stay in the original room.
The second room was in a much better location, but unfortunately it was also dirty and in need of repairs. For example, one of the plug sockets appeared to have been repaired using plaster. There were several other issues with the room, which we photographed.
Hotel and Facilities
The hotel is effectively split across two separate locations, which was not made particularly clear to us when booking.
The hotel itself appeared very run down. The swimming pools were missing numerous tiles and, generally, the pool areas did not feel particularly clean or well maintained.
Room Cleaning
The room cleaning was very basic. The bathroom appeared to be mopped, but the bedroom floor was not properly swept until our final day.
Beds
The additional bed was advertised as a sofa bed. In reality, it was essentially a sofa with sheets placed over it and was not particularly comfortable to sleep on.
Drinks
On two evenings, the beer pumps were not working and there was no alternative available. This was particularly disappointing as beer is the only alcoholic drink I normally have.
On several other occasions, the hotel had run out of mint for Mojitos, which was another disappointment.
Overall, we were extremely disappointed with the standard of the accommodation and facilities compared with what we had expected from a hotel advertised by TUI as 4-star.
We have had an amazing 5 night stay at the Tui Blue Flamingo Beach. The food was fantastic, huge range of options each meal time and the chefs were very accommodating to my dairy intolerance and even gave me a tour of what I could and couldn’t eat. The all inclusive drinks options were also great, with a variety of different soft , alcoholic and cocktails on offer. The rooms were cleaned every day and towels were refreshed and the pool area and hotel itself was always tidy and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the evening entertainment was good too, we enjoyed the band and music quiz. I would highly recommend this hotel , thank you Tui Blue!
Fantastic location, relaxing atmosphere. Nice and clean. Good value. For an all inclusive resort the food is very good and varied day to day. Staff are friendly and hardworking. Nice and quiet around snack bar pool. Rooms are satisfactory could use a little tlc but no major problems or issues in our room, although would be nice if air conditioning temperature could be set lower.
Perfect location right on flamingo beach,chilled atmosphere ,we had a lovely room with sea views, clean and comfortable,staff were friendly and helpful food was excellent with plenty of choice,good family entertainment
Great location for beach lovers, although no sun beds on beach. Bus service into town reliable and cheap. If you have mobility issues, the hotel has ramps everywhere which is great, but be warned it is a downhill/uphill walk to the beach and request a room near the restaurant. It's quite a trek from one end of the hotel grounds to the other. The room was a great size for 3 adults, good facilities although a little tired in terms of decor and paintwork. All inclusive had plenty of choice, typically though keeping food hot is always an issue when catering on mass. Cocktails were just syrupy and sweet, all pre-made. For the pool areas, I don't believe the quiet pool was maintained, lots of loose missing/tiles and noted sunbed areas were not being cleaned regularly, full bins and debris on the floor daily. The larger pool however was much cleaner. I feel that maybe a lack of staff issue, in other hotels there has always been staff regularly emptying bins, clearing glasses, picking up rubbish etc... In general the outside areas were a bit grubby, and in need of fresh paint . The Aircon was not great in the main restaurant, and often dripping onto guests. Finally, I understand cockroaches can be an issue in hot countries and never surprised to see one when out and about, but I saw no less than 4 in the main restaurant during our stay. Overall, I would say adequate, lots of entertainment for the kids but nothing spectacular if you are looking for a special treat.
