Holidaying in Lanzarote? You couldn't really ask for a better location than this. The recently refurbished Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort sits between sandy beaches and the bustling heart of the Playa Blanca resort. Stay here and you get easy access to all of the shops, bars and restaurants as well as all of those wonderful beaches.
With an impressive five hotel pools, fresh and sea water, to choose from - and a couple of exhilarating waterslides - you can quite happily spend the whole day in and out of the water, with the occasional visit to the snack bar for cool drinks or treats. Outdoor life here at the Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort isn't just poolside. You can equally enjoy meandering through the gardens or finding a shady spot to stop and relax.
For a change of scenery, why not try Flamingo Beach? It's just 600 metres away and boasts wonderfully soft, fine sand. Or you can hop on a free shuttle bus to the nearby Dorada Beach. There are even more great ways to have fun in the sun at the Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort. Take a turn on the tennis court or sports court - all charming ways to have some holiday fun. You'll enjoy plenty of choice when it comes to eating and drinking too with a pool bar, lounge bar and three restaurants for you to enjoy.
Your Junior Suite at the Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort is light, bright and stylish. With smart furnishings and finishing touches, they're designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible. All rooms have en suite facilities and a private terrace, alongside a satellite TV, minibar (at a fee), phone, hairdryer and safety deposit box (at a fee).
The Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort enjoys a fantastic location between sandy beaches and the tourist centre of the resort. The hotel's extensive grounds are planted with palm trees and host an impressive array of facilities including 5 outdoor swimming pools. The fine sands of Flamingo Beach are just 600 meters away and the hotel provides a free shuttle to Dorada Beach.
Overall this hotel was such a disappointment! Our holiday began with a 45-minute wait to check in due to a poor checking in system, Unfortunately, this set the tone for the rest of our stay. The hotel appeared to be seriously understaffed throughout, with employees clearly overworked and struggling to cope. We regularly had to wait around 30 minutes just to be served a drink We don’t blame the staff for this as they were obviously doing their best, The cleanliness and hygiene standards were unacceptable. Tables in the restaurant and outdoor areas were left uncleared for long periods, On the plus side our room was nice, spacious and the air con was really good. The grounds are also beautiful The complementary bus to the beach was great and the local area was beautiful The entertainment team were good . We wouldn’t come here again because of the lack of service, cleanliness and staffing issues.
Honest review We are still here and this place is pretty poor to be honest.
Reception is fine check in was good
Rooms We are far away from the main building so WiFi doesn’t work tv has no reception , rooms are ok get cleaned everyday.
Bars Drinks are ok but you have to wait a long time for a drink occasionally
Pool area Plenty of sunbeds but there very tired and very uncomfortable.
Snack bar Food is terrible hot dogs or burgers
Main restaurant The food here isn’t good and I am not fussy not much choice it’s either fish or pork not much else to offer and warm at best, they are way under staffed takes ages to get a drink, tables not cleaned as they simply don’t have the staff.
For what we paid there are far better hotels out there for the same money and cheaper we will not be coming back this is not a 4 star in my opinion and we are all very disappointed. We booked through TUI and they should monitor the quality of these hotels so they are up to standard, this hotel has had plenty of poor reviews lately and obviously not rectifying the problems its wrong we pay good money for poor service.
Selection of photos supplied which shows air conditioning hanging off wall, black mould in bathroom, dirty sofa in room , various photos of seating areas throughout hotel. Evidence speaks for itself. This should not be recommended by package holidays companies. It is a disgrace! Poor management in hotel. Terrible that there is not even basic cleanliness. Do not go there !
My review of our weeks stay at the Elba 🩷
I'll start by saying we are 100% rebooking! This holiday will forever hold a special place in our hearts as it was our first family holiday and first time our daughter has been abroad.
The hotel itself is beautiful and extremely clean, the cleaners work very hard daily and it really shows. There is a bit of a wait at reception sometimes but the views are enough to occupy you whilst you wait and they honestly couldnt do enough for you.
The pool area is kept clean and tidy, we would always take our cups to the bar if any were left anyway I think thats just standard respect. The lifeguards were great especially the female lifeguard who'd open up both slides and made it fun for adults and kids!. Theres plenty to do during the day such as activities and what I love is that they're not in your face or pushy with you to take part. Some places I've been in the past they can be very pushy but here they werent at all. Pools can be a little nippy but once your in its lovely and I recommend long sleeve swimsuits for children just to protect them in the saltwater pools.
Animation team are amazing with the children, my daughter loved the mini disco on the night and we stayed and watched a Variety Show - Tina Turner act was hilarious! Hats off to them, to do what they do in this heat! 😃
Food we had was AI, pretty standard AI food but very beautiful and plenty of choice I found. Kids stuff (for bland eaters) could be a bit hit and miss but she always found something and even tried Mozzerella sticks which she loved. I enjoyed trying new foods to be honest and the dessert selection 😍😍😍 say no more! The staff were attentive and welcoming, I do think more staff arw needed more so for drinks orders when looking around in busier periods but we were always asked quite quickly. They really do work hard though.
My only nit pick would be the 2 drinks rule at the pool bar and I'm sure plenty can agree this can be a right pain in the butt when you have more than 2 of you..especially when your 3rd person is a child so I'd either have to drag all of us to the bar or her 🤣. The ques were fine and I never waited more than a few minutes. They work very very hard but do agree they could do with more staff.
Special shout out to Darcy who done our photos, she was just amazing. So kind, so fun and interactive with our little girl and very good at her job aswell. She didnt pester for photos - she'd ask as thats her job. We loved her!
We visited Marina Rubicon Market which is on a Wednesday & Saturday I believe (5 euro taxi there and back) - fantastic and a must do! We also walked down to Playa Blanca took us about 15 minutes and a further 10 to Playa Dorada beach but the hotel does do free shuttles throughout the day. (4 euros to get back) so very cheap!
10/10 holiday and cannot wait to rebook.
I have to admit, after reading the reviews for Elba Lanzarote Royal Village, I was pretty apprehensive about our week there, but I have to say we were pleasantly surprised!
Rooms
Our room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. It was air conditioned and cleaned daily, with the bathroom towels changed every three days. The bathroom was looking a bit tired and could probably do with an upgrade, but it was clean, and our toddler even enjoyed playing with her pool toys in the bath!
Food and drinks
We didn't really have any complaints about the food. There was a decent selection of meat, pasta, salads and kids' options at every meal. It could get a bit repetitive, as some reviews have mentioned, but if you're not a fussy eater, there's enough choice to have something different each day. It's a busy all-inclusive resort, so the food was pretty much what I'd expect.
My only real gripe would be the drinks service. It would be much better if you could help yourself rather than having to wait to be served, although the waiting staff were always attentive and friendly.
Pools and sun loungers
We never struggled to find a sun lounger, even later in the day, although I'm not sure how full the hotel was when we visited. There were sometimes queues at the pool bar, but nothing like the 30–40-minute waits mentioned in some reviews. I imagine this probably depends on how busy the hotel is.
The pools were a comfortable temperature and never felt overcrowded during our stay. The lifeguards were quite strict about children wearing armbands in the deeper pools, even when accompanied by a parent. We did notice one day that there was only one lifeguard on duty, which is worth mentioning. That said, I'm a firm believer that parents should always keep a close eye on their kids in the pool, regardless of how many lifeguards are on duty!
Entertainment and kids' facilities
There was always plenty going on with the animation team, whether you wanted to get involved yourself or keep the kids entertained. The staff throughout the resort were always really friendly and great with children.
We found it a really good resort for toddlers. The indoor soft play in the kids' club was a great bonus, and one thing we particularly liked was that parents could go into the kids' club with their children. Our daughter wouldn't have been keen on being left there on her own, so being able to stay with her meant she could enjoy the facilities without any fuss. It was a small thing that made a big difference to us.
Location
The beach is a good 20–30-minute walk from the hotel, so it's worth bearing that in mind when booking. However, there's a free shuttle bus that takes you to the beach if you don't fancy the walk, which is particularly handy when travelling with young children.
Overall
All in all, we had a much better experience than we expected after reading some of the reviews. Is the hotel perfect? No. The bathroom could do with an upgrade, and being able to help yourself to drinks would be a definite improvement. But the room was clean, the food was perfectly acceptable, the pools were great and the staff were genuinely lovely.
Obviously, everyone's experience will be different, and how busy the hotel is probably makes a difference to things like queues and sunbed availability. But based on our experience, I wouldn't be put off booking just because of some of the negative reviews.
We'd happily consider coming back in the future, especially now that we know what to expect!
