Barcelo Playa Blanca

Returning guests from last October. Good holiday with family of nine in three rooms.

Food - good, nicely presented and something for everyone. As a vegetarian, I would like to see more separation between meat / vegetarian items. Did eat out in nearby restaurants a few times which made a welcome change. Would like to see some pain au chocolates as I remember them in October and the croissants were better then too.

Rooms - we were in 5372. Modern, quiet, comfortable room and in good condition. Bed was comfortable with good quality bedding. Had to ask for a hairdryer three times as each one I had didn’t work. One time they even delivered me a hairdryer in two parts that didn’t match. The last hairdryer was perfect but took days to sort. For future, I would definitely take my own.

Pools - very nice, well cleaned and spacious. Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. Had to queue before nine for them to open the gates to get sunbeds. This is rather manic if you need a certain amount you have to run and throw your stuff on quick. However, I feel it’s a good fair way of doing it otherwise beds will be taken from the early risers and no one else would get a look in. Once you have your beds, people seemed respectful of your beds and belongings.

Entertainment - some good entertainment although didn’t watch a lot but enjoyed the quizzes and bingo.

Kids area - the three children in our group enjoyed this area and loved the climbing wall and all the machines, although we didn’t visit daily.

Cleanliness - since visiting in October I do feel that the standards of cleanliness in the rooms and lift areas have gone downhill. During our 2 week stay our room didn’t seem to get swept or mopped at all. The day we arrived, I noted fluff, hairs etc and this was still there the day before we left. We took the stool into a family room and the dust that was under there did not move. I gave up having our room cleaned and kept putting our do not disturb on however this was ignored all of the time. Even after calling reception to ask that our room is left. The floor seemed the only issue though as the replenishment of waters, toilet rolls, towels and bedding when asked, was perfect. The main entrances and restaurants are very grand and very clean and it is evident that a lot of time goes into cleaning this huge hotel.

Champs Sports bar - absolutely loved this bar and the people that work in there. This bar gave us time to chill, chat, play cards etc after pool or beach days. So glad that they’ve introduced a soft tip dartboard, which was brilliant for my husband, son and grandson. Shame that the darts were being ruined and not changed. Would love to see a proper dartboard in there for if we return. A big well done to the Champs team!!!!

Overall - a great two week holiday with the family which had something for everyone and again would love to return despite the issues of the room cleaning.

You cannot fault this hotel. The location is perfect, the back leads right onto the marina in one direction and to some other bars/restaurants the other side. The beach is a 5 minute walk also. The food has been great . The rooms are great & overall, I have loved the experience. I have arrived with a nearly 2 year old maybe a little bit too young for kids club. Couldn’t watch the entertainment in the theatre as personally for us , it was too hot down there! However would recommend this hotel for families wanting a nice chilled vibe. Xx

We had a great family holiday in a superior room on our first visit so a couple of us returned next year and upgraded to a swim up room. Our experience was great, a very welcoming hotel, comfortable rooms, I admit I am a fussy eater but always a choice to be had and plenty of it. Breakfast is excellent plenty of choice. Great location also and views spectacular. We had no issues but staff our always in hand to help in my experience.
