Where to begin…

Unfortunately, this was one of the more disappointing hotel experiences we have had, and while there were some positives, there were too many issues for us to consider returning. The biggest issue was the lack of air conditioning. This was not made clear during the booking process and only became apparent shortly before our holiday. We know we weren't the only guests surprised by this, as several other holidaymakers told us they had experienced the same confusion. We contacted the hotel in advance and were initially told all rooms had air conditioning, only to discover a week before travelling that this was incorrect. By that point we were told there was no availability to change rooms and that we would need to discuss options on arrival. When we arrived, we were informed that fans were available to hire, but there were not enough for every room and we would need to check back after three days to see if one became available. Charging guests for fan hire in a hotel without air conditioning also felt unreasonable. The standard rooms allocated to our group were large enough, but ours had a strong sewage smell in the bathroom. Describing it as a "cabbage" smell does not really do justice to how bad it was. The smell was so overpowering that I avoided using the bathroom whenever possible. We reported it and ultimately had to pay an additional €136 to move into a superior room. While the superior room solved the smell issue and included air conditioning, we discovered another problem: the shower water turned bright yellow when using hot water. This appeared to be related to rust or issues within the hot water system. Another member of our group staying in a superior room also experienced problems with a faulty shower head. Sleep quality was another major concern. Our original room was located above the bar. The sea breeze helped make the room bearable without air conditioning, but keeping the window open meant dealing with noise from the bar area and surrounding guests. Although the bar itself closed at 11pm, noise from other guests regularly continued well into the early hours of the morning. In addition, a nearby light remained on throughout the night and shone directly into the room. My parents remained in their room above the bar and were repeatedly disturbed by neighbouring guests and children knocking on doors in the early hours. Unfortunately, there seemed to be little enforcement of guest behaviour despite the hotel's strict enforcement of other rules. The hotel was very strict about drink collection procedures, including limiting drinks and requiring token-operated reusable cups alongside all-inclusive wristbands. This felt unnecessarily complicated and resulted in many guests spending time searching for cups and tokens rather than relaxing. The sunbed situation was also frustrating. Despite rules regarding reserving beds with towels, these rules were not enforced, making it difficult to find available loungers in the morning. Service was mixed. Some staff members were friendly, efficient, and genuinely helpful. However, there were often queues for drinks at both the pool bar and evening bars. Communication could also be difficult at times. One particularly disappointing issue was that several personal items disappeared during our stay, including a charger, an adapter, and a pair of children's shorts. These incidents were reported to reception on multiple occasions, but despite being told the cleaning team would investigate, we never received any update or resolution. There were, however, some positives. The pool area was pleasant, and the saltwater pool was something different. The on-site shop and souvenir store were useful, and the gym was well equipped. The hotel also made booking taxis very easy. The food was acceptable, although fairly repetitive. Lunch regularly consisted of burgers, hot dogs, chips, and other familiar British favourites. I personally found the desserts disappointing, although others may disagree. Outside the hotel, there are some excellent options. The nearby water park was fantastic and one of the highlights of our trip. The nearest town is only a short taxi ride away for under €5, and I would highly recommend Fado Rock Steak House, which was one of the best meals and evenings we had during the entire holiday. Overall, while there are some good facilities and a handful of helpful staff members, the lack of air conditioning, room quality issues, sewage smell, yellow water, noise problems, poor handling of lost property, and additional charges significantly affected our stay. The hotel is advertised as a 3-star property, but based on our experience I would rate it closer to a 2-star standard. The beds were comfortable, but that alone was not enough to outweigh the numerous issues we encountered. Sadly, we would not return.

Small compact but lovely

I recently stayed here with my hubby and our 3 adult children, our rooms were about a 5 min walk from the pool and main reception, first morning there I laid my towels out at 8am now I will say don’t lay them out before or you risk your towels being taken by the cleaners/reception staff and then lose your beds, I always made sure we had a parasol around our beds as 2 of my kids are fair skinned and burn really easily however despite having one over our beds a French couple took our parasol so my son and daughter had to go sit up under the eaves grrrr. Meals times were hectic as at every meal you have to give your room number and I also got bored as there wasn’t a big selection of food nor was it always warm, drinks wise they ask that you only get 2 drinks per person from the bar at the pool so that means in my case at least 2 of us were queuing ,you also have drinks tokens which surprised me as we were all inclusive, the way the tokens work is you hand them in when you want a drink then at the end of the day you can either switch your cup back to a token or keep the cup and hand it over the next day and start again. Entertainment wise in the evening was the standard kids disco followed by karaoke, during the day they would come round and ask if you wanted to join in with tennis, ping pong etc my youngest always went and had a fab time. The pool is Saltwater and freezing but so refreshing when it’s hot and sticky haha oh and there is only 1 block of toilets round the pool. So this is me done, I would actually go back here again cause I did like the fact it was small and compact.

Poolside vibes

If you’re looking for a chilled and relaxing break, this is the hotel for you. The atmosphere around the pool is very peaceful and it’s a great place to unwind. The rooms are basic but clean, and you’ll always be able to find something to eat in the restaurant for every meal. Personally, I believe this hotel has a lot of potential to really stand out from its competitors. There are just a few areas that could be improved to make the experience even better.

There needs to be more bar staff around the pool area, especially during busy periods, to reduce the queues and make it easier for guests to get drinks. I’d also love to see more entertainment staff getting involved around the pool and encouraging guests to join in with some fun, silly dances and activities. This would create a much livelier and more enjoyable atmosphere during the day.

The evening entertainment could also be improved by bringing it outside into the surrounding pool area. At the moment, the entertainment is tucked away inside the bar, meaning not everyone gets to enjoy it. Moving some of the entertainment outdoors would create a much better atmosphere and allow more guests to get involved.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and think this hotel has the potential to be a fantastic place to visit. With a few small changes to the entertainment and poolside service, it could really stand out from the competition.

Lovely hotel for 2 star.

Overall, a very nice holiday.

Rooms- very clean and great air con in the superior rooms. There were some days the rooms weren’t cleaned but generally out of our 11 night holiday they were cleaned at least 9 times.

Pool- very big, saltwater, nice to sit at the pool bar although no service at this area.

Entertainment- repetitive. Great in the days. Water polo, killer pool, tennis, table tennis, boules, aqua aerobics. In the nights there was mini disco at 9pm, then bingo and karaoke. The children in the hotel seemed quite bored and this resulted in them running no around screaming and playing among the bar area and where people were drinking/smoking. It would’ve been great if they were kept entertained for longer to occupy them.

Drinks- the hotel gives a token per person for reusable cups. One of the only really negatives is that these cups are so small. Whilst the idea is great for the environment and aimed at reducing queues especially at busy times, the size of the cups often make the queue much longer than it needs to be. A few sips and your drink is gone so you’re queing again. They operate on a ‘2 drinks per person’ rule which was fine for us but I felt for families that were having to leave their children unsupervised at many points of the day to ensure that everyone in their family had a drink.

Food- lovely salad bar at all times, chips always, always fresh baguettes. Sometimes the food looked questionable but for a 2 star hotel I was expecting a lot worse and was prepared to eat out a lot. Breakfast was 10/10 with proper sausages.

Staff- could do with more staff at bars to keep queue down and more cooks in kitchen to ensure they keep on top of food levels.

Couldn't fault it

Fantastic value for money hotel. We stayed during the pool closure and so glad we did. Staff were all amazing. Jordi the entertainment guy is an absolute star doing all he could for those who stayed making it so much fun. Superior double Room was fab spotlessly clean with aircon. Food was always hot and plentiful always greeted with a warm welcome into the restaurant and bar area. Guy on reception Dimitru was so helpful and always smiling. Cannot fault the place. It is slightly out the way but I would definitely recommend the hotel.
