The Globes Costa Tropical Hotel is ideally located in Costa Antigua near the beach of Playa del Castillo which is just over a mile away. Also within easy reach is the beautiful resort of Caleta de Fuste which is full of shops, restaurants & bars.
Dirty room not cleaned correctly finding cockroaches in room,no aircon expected to pay more for an aircon room or pay for use of a fan,food is shocking would rate as worse I've had on the island would never stay again,it's ok for people who enjoy low grade accommodation and food
Very disappointing – wouldn’t return
Unfortunately, this hotel didn’t live up to expectations and there were simply too many negatives for us to consider returning.
The location is bleak, with only a couple of English bars nearby. It’s a short taxi ride into Caleta de Fuste, but even there we found the atmosphere fairly underwhelming.
The food was probably the biggest disappointment. It was extremely repetitive and far too often served cold or barely warm. Mealtimes were also chaotic, with the restaurant absolutely rammed and the hotel clearly struggling with staffing. There were constant queues for drinks, both during the day and in the evening.
We paid extra for a pool-view room and, thankfully, this was money well spent. The pool area itself is large and getting a sunbed was never a problem. However, the swim-up bar wasn’t operating and some of the tiles around the pool were broken and slippery, which is a safety concern.
The entertainment team deserves credit. The two guys did their absolute best with what they had, and Jordy in particular was fantastic — he genuinely helped make our week. Sadly, it was obvious they were working with a very limited budget, which was a real shame because there was potential for much more.
Overall, we wouldn’t return. The cold and repetitive food, queues, overcrowded restaurant, lack of atmosphere and issues around the pool all added up to a disappointing holiday. Even with the good points, there were just too many reasons against coming back.
Do not visit this hotel under any circumstances, found bed bugs in my bed and they didn’t even act surprised and just told me to wash my clothes, terrible service, terrible food and the staff and outright rude and disrespectful
This hotel is far the worst we have stayed in , best rooms are not what they look like when you book it , broken floor tiles all around the pool area, staff rude , food is well we will leave that as no words , dirty bed sheets , pool turns your swim wear green . That is down to the PH levels! Not your sun lotion as staff will tell you , and when you arrive late you get pack up , would not give it to my dog !!
Remember this is a 3* if you are expecting higher then of course you will be disappointed. Mine and my friends rooms were clean and tidy. No they did not have air-conditioning which I found odd as everywhere else I have stayed has it as standard, even in a 3*. So make sure you check. This was not clear when we booked with a travel company. Some more expensive rooms have it and others don't. I love the heat so it did not bother me but my friend had to pay extra for a fan. The walk in shower was powerful enough for my long thick hair to wash shampoo out. I walked out of my room straight to the pool. Loved the pool, lots of easy access points to step, slowly in and we never had an issue getting a sun bed or umbrella. I waited no more than 6 minutes for a drink at the bar and there is a shop on site. The food was great for a very small venue, they only have the one buffet restaurant. They had a variety of salad, veg and breads daily. They had fish, prawns, muscles, pork, chicken, duck, veal, beef etc. They had pastas, rice and for the junk food people they had chips, hot dogs and burgers daily. They had a variety of croissants, cheese and cold meats, cereals. Fruit, a full fry up for breakfast. Puddings of jelly, cakes, ice cream, fruit, rice pudding. They had pizza night , Chinese night, a chocolate fountain with Profiteroles and large sweet cola bottles. If you only feed your children chicken nuggets then this is not the hotel for you, holiday in McDonald's instead. That is a parenting issue and not the fault of the establishment. If you eat a well balanced diet with the odd treat as you should then the food is great. The food was regularly replaced as it ran out and it was always hot. You can help yourself to beer/wine/fizzy drinks/juice/Water and hot drinks at the buffet restaurant. We filled our allocated plastic cups before leaving the restaurant each time. The entertainment guy was great. He worked really hard- water polo, he put a large matt over the water for people to run over which was amusing as a spectator. They have 2 tennis courts, they done table tennis, darts, we took part in a music quiz night and Karaoke. There is the beach- we walked but got a taxi back as was further than we thought. Beach was nice but like imported sawdust sand. This was surrounded by restaurants. There is a market on Saturdays and i believe other days too-in town (taxi was about £2.80) and the reception just pressed a button for the taxi to arrive which was very fast. People have complained about the noise of aeroplanes, I never saw/heard a single one. The transfer was only about 9 minutes which was great! We were the first drop off and the last pick up. Overall for a 3* hotel I thought this was great! If you are looking for luxury, adventures and lots of physical activities nearby then no this is not for you. If you are looking for fun with who you are with and a nice 3* hotel to enjoy, then this is for you. Add air-conditioning to every room as standard and add a bottle of water daily to each room (fridge and TV worked) and I think this would be a great budget holiday. There is always small things such as the above that hotels could add to make it a more comfortable stay to encourage people to return. Management please acknowledge the above, most of the complaints i heard from guests while at your premises was lack of air-conditioning, lack of bottled water supplied as standard and the bars could do with 1 extra staff member. I would happily return, but the above would enable me to recommend to friends and family.
