Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We are nearing the end of a week here with my daughter and son in law and 7 month old grandson. Having seen some of the reviews before we came I was unsure as to what to expect. Overall has exceeded my expectations. It is what it says it is “a family resort hotel”. Yes there is loud music at times mainly by the lower family pool but you can easily get away from it up at the adults only pool. Rooms are great , well appointed, spotlessly cleaned and serviced every day. Food - its a buffet so don’t expect michelin star food but what they offer is a great choice and plentiful. The Italian restaurant very good as is Roastic where Akash was great. The food was however overcooked but we still enjoyed it. Standard wine very good. Go premium if you want better spirits otherwise the drinks come from a machine. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the pools crystal clear and cleaned regularly. Overall exceeded what I was expecting. One tip we are in block 1 which is very near the entertainment pool and bar so bit noisy. Ask for room in block further back.
My friend and I had a wonderful short break at Tivoli Alvor. We enjoyed the pool, spa and all-inclusive food. As I follow a halal diet, I was pleasantly surprised by how accommodating the hotel was. I was given a token to inform the restaurant staff of my dietary requirements, and they prepared special meals for me, including two delicious steaks!
A huge thank you to Ijaz, Akash and Shuhud for looking after us so well. The hotel was also conveniently located, around 15–20 minutes from the Aqua shopping centre and nearby beaches and shops.
We had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend Tivoli Alvor!
My view is that the 5 star rating is over exaggerated, the Hotel is over priced and full of golfers, the food invariably was over cooked (inedible) - I didn’t venture to the steak restaurant As wasabi steak was€240, we were half board and everything was buffet food in a canteen environment, so we ended up eating in restaurants in the marina most of the holiday, I guess with 638 rooms and potentially up to 800 day guests it’s not surprising it’s buffet, drinks were also over priced, the hotel, despite being in a fantastic location, is showing definite signs of deterioration, room furniture failure - extractor fan did not work for 14 days despite request to have it repaired - shower was either too hot or too cold - although not a security risk, the patio door initially didn’t work (but was repaired) cracks on walls, the security card for lift and room access had to be replaced 6 times due to failure. The noise levels were disappointing and contrary to AI view, the marina side was easily quieter, with the pool side having competing noise levels (hotel v PURO beach) which was really annoying. The portugese people were lovely, friendly and helpful. BUT THE ACID TEST- “if asked would I go back?” NEVER
Stayed for a week. Found room and bathroom excellent. Adults only pool very good. Buffet adequate. Restaurants very good. Staff very helpful. Good value for money.
Akash was a great waiter, on top of drinks! Was never left with an empty glass. Good was gorgeous! Started main and dessert
