From its cliff-top position, this exclusive luxury hotel enjoys panoramic views over the magnificent beach and bay of Três Irmãos and out to the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel is surrounded by 4.5 hectares of wonderfully maintained gardens, the centre of the picturesque village of Alvor with its shops, restaurants and bars is within walking distance. Portimão, the largest town of the West Algarve, is only 5 km away, Faro International Airport is at a distance of 74 km.
Relax at the full-service spa, where you can enjoy massages. You're sure to appreciate the recreational amenities, including an outdoor pool, an indoor pool and a hot tub. Additional amenities at this hotel include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and babysitting (surcharge).
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Our group was on a tour, and we only spent 3 nights. Breakfast was included. Omelets were good, but bacon and sausages were subpar, some sort of processed meat. Bacon looked like thin slices of Spam. We repeatedly requested coffee, and after long waits, we learned to go get our own. I guess the important point is we got fed. We had dinner on the first night; the food was OK but expensive. I recommend eating in the bar after 7 pm for an affordable meal, or go to local restaurants for a more delicious and affordable meal. The bar service at the pool struggled. We asked for vodka and water, but they said they could not make it because it wasn't on the menu. We ordered 4 margaritas that our group could not even drink. We loved the beach access, and in general, the hotel staff was great. We only had issues with Breakfast and Dinner buffets. I would rate this hotel a 3-star, and we were expecting a 5-star experience.
Whilst the hotel is on a stunning elevated site, the interior resembles a 1970’s movie set. It has quite clearly not been renovated in decades which is such a shame for guests who are likely paying substantial rates. The first sea view bedroom room we were allocated was so badly presented (damaged floors, shabby furniture, patio door wouldn’t close, dated bathroom) we asked to be moved. The second bedroom was marginally better however bathroom is outdated and the air conditioning utterly ineffective. For a huge building with significant potential there has been an absence of investment in refurbishing for some time. With a hotel resident age demographic akin to nursing care, there are numerous trip and fall hazards especially on the lower communal floors . Do not come here if you want a vibrant and modern hotel experience. We personally witnessed a number of elderly people falling down steps which were difficult to see on the floor with multiple patterns and flooring styles. On a positive note there is no issue getting a taxi to visit local villages and restaurants.
There is very little to do in Alvor. The one outstanding dining experience is Nude Steakhouse nearby which opened earlier this year; truly excellent food and ambience. The hotel breakfast is really good with stunning beach views . Staff are lovely in spite of what must be repetitive residents complaints going by numerous other reviews.
Excellent as always but this time I would like to recognize Daniel Santos and Rui in the reception area, both were excellent in resolving some minor issues and very professional and courteous. 5 stars due to these two individuals
Probably 3 star at best. Reception staff and breakfast staff brilliant. Lovely breakfast and location to the beach super. Pool area dangerous with boards uneven and damaged. Bathrooms in rooms very poor and very outdated.
Overall we had a great 7 nights holiday. I would however not class this hotel as a 5 star - I would say 3.5 to 4 at best. Kudos to all the staff - everyone we came in contact with was very warm and friendly. Could not fault any member of the team from reception to restaurant/bar and housekeeping staff.
My daughter absolutely loved the kids club and was there everyday for full day except one day she did half day. Thank you Ivanna for looking after my Lily. We both absolutely adore you.
For me some areas that could be improved:
My daughter already said she would like to visit again next year so we will see. Btw, she absolutely loves Mr. Fernando playing the piano at breakfast.
