Came for 5 nights and had a lovely time. The rooms are perfectly equipped and was so nice to have a kettle, fridge and cutlery to use. We were checked in early which was great and found the staff to be helpful. We did ask for mattress toppers as the beds are very hard. It helped a bit.
The pool was nice and never any trouble to get a spot but there’s a bit of atmosphere lacking as there’s no music or entertainment at the pool.
The pool bar was ok, basic stuff and beers a bit more expensive than the town.
It is out of the town, it’s not a long walk but in the heat it can be. Alvor is not set up for pedestrians so you have to walk on the side of the busy road or on the dirt path. We would occasionally get taxis back.
Very clean and would recommend.
3rd year in a row at pestana alvor park staff on reception extremely friendly and helpful check in and check out seamless staff at pool bar excellent a big shout out to Jose wod did not laugh at me when I tried to order something in portugese and got the completely wrong thing 😀 instead he appreciated the attempt and encouraged me with the pronunciation 👍 housekeeping staff extremely helpful and friendly 😀 pool area and gardens clean and well maintained didn't use the restaurant but did use the pool bar and ordered from the snack bar menu many times which was very good the rooms are spacious one bed superior apartment living room bedroom kitchen with everything you need ensure bathroom and a 2nd shower room large balcony included table 4 chairs and 2 sun loungers previous 2 years we were on 3rd floor this year 4th floor and what a view excellent 😀 10-15 min walk to towm and beach 20 min walk to harbour overall very relaxing just what we needed 😊 we will definitely return
Chose based on reviews & it didn't disappoint. Upon arrival Jose at reception who was very friendly, gave advice on how to get to supermarket, village & beach as we couldn't check in until 3pm giving us time to explore the area.
We chose self catering in premium studio which was perfect for our needs, full size fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, microwave & 2 ring stove-not that we cooked as SO many amazing restaurants to dine out in! Beds, yes they are hard but not a problem for us, sofa, chair & dining room table plus large balcony with patio furniture.
Cleanliness was exceptional in all areas & everywhere had a lovely fresh smell of being clean.
Pool area was a bit squashed we preferred to lounge by the garden & fountains as very quiet, lovely palm shades & away from the noise of the few boisterous boys running around!!
Used bar during day & evening for drinks reasonably priced.
Location wise for us was great, 10 minute stroll down to village every evening 15 mins back....just a gradual hill nothing steep.
Looking to book again for next year if we can as just perfect 👌
Our first visit visiting a Pestana and it did not disappoint. This was also a first holiday where we hadn't done all inclusive.
Rooms are a lovely size and plenty of space. Cleaners do a fantastic job and keep them clean every day. The drinks on offer at the bar are decent, along with ice creams, while the snack bar is both filling and quality standard. The pool is a decent size for the hotel, and plenty of sunbed space. Sauna was also a great to use every day.
Location wise, a casual 10-minute walk to the beach and restaurants. We ate out every night and not only is the food lovely, the value for money is brilliant.
A few things to amend to make this 5-star: Upgrade kitchen units in rooms, little dated. Change shower curtain to glass panel & door and look at water pressure. Filter around pool needs replacing as it was broken in some areas.
Overall, a fantastic and relaxing stay.
We had a shocking check-in experience. It was Sunday evening and we arrived by taxi from the airport. The hotel lobby was deserted? We waited at the desk for 10 minutes. We then went in search of any staff member- Nobody? Then an older receptionist/manager came out of the kitchen down stairs and when I told him that we had been waiting to check in for 20 minutes he got very angry!! He shouted at us that he had to eat ? He then refused to talk to us except to demand payment. Throughout our stay he did not speak to us despite us saying ‘good night’ etc. to him ?? The bar was very understaffed too. We tried breakfast on one morning and it was poor! The pool area is good and our room was fine but everything else was below standard- largely due to lack of personnel- No manager could be seen throughout our stay ?
