Situated near the village of Alvor's historic centre, beaches and golf courses, the commercial area, and the Portimão marina, this hotel is in a prime location. All the amenities, combined with a draft design; this hotel was created to provide guests with a perfect, unforgettable holiday. It includes a full range of services, including the magnificent 100 m pool, 2 padle courts, children's playground (Pirate Ship), several restaurants, bars, meeting rooms, multipurpose room, a Spa with a heated swimming pool, Turkish bath, sauna, and massage. It also includes indoor and outdoor parking.
The room was basic but clean. Bathroom okay. The room view wasn't the best. Next to the hotel you can find a hospital, shop and petrol station within distance of 15 minutes (walking distance)so if you are not interested of travelling and you based your entertainment in the hotel- you will not like it - the entertainment is really boring and terrible - the staff trying them best but you get the feeling that they don't want to do it. Everything is look like the money matters - no kettle ,coffee or tea - 1 bottle of water on the table - make sure you have enough as after midnight you need to pay for the drinks. There is not iron but you can pay money (it is expensive) - £4/4,5 for a simple shirt and then they will arrange for you. We went as all inclusive package and for the first time we wasn't able to go out of the restaurant with a single fruit and if you do so you may end up paying 20 euro fine. Just so you aware - the staff barely speak English language. The surprise was on arrival day. We wasn't aware that we need to pay 4 euro per day extra for a tax. The towels you can rent - for 20 euros- refundable but you can exchange them for a fresh one after 4 days . Shops around a very expensive. The only good thing in this hotel was housekeeping- very nice,polite and very clean. People think twice before you go there.
We have just come back from a week stay at Alvor Baia as a family with 2 young children. Some of the reviews of this place, in my opinion, are very unfair! Yes, it’s not the most luxurious place ever but we had an amazing time! Every single member of staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful! And they are great with the kids. The entertainment team are great and are truly doing their best! Massive shoutout to Miguel, Alex and Dave the bartender. You guys made a big impact on us, which is very telling!
The food was great, some nights better than others but we always found something to eat. The bbq night was a firm favourite! The restaurant’s are big so we never struggled for a seat.
Other positives, there are plenty of subbed! We sometimes didn’t go get a bed until after 10 and there were always plenty left! The rooms are very spacious, kept clean and we never had any noise.
A few things for the hotel to consider. The towels in the hotel room are a bit small, could do with a big one. The times available to access ice cream aren’t great. Could do with even a freezer upstairs near the pool bar with the pots of ice cream for lunch maybe? The cocktails are from a machine, having a few that are handmade would definitely elevate the experience.
Overall, we had an amazing time. I would definitely return to Alvor Baia ❤️
A lovely, clean and modern 4star resort with great food, friendly staff and regular shuttle buses to the beach.
The location is ideal if you want to be away from the noise and hustle of the nightlife, while still being close enough to enjoy it. An Uber will get you there within minutes and at a very reasonable price.
Overall, a great resort with a relaxing atmosphere, excellent service and a convenient location. I’d happily stay here again.
I think is is one of the most accurately rated hotels I've ever been to. I also think some of the negative reviews are rather very very harsh. Spent a week in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of September as a couple and the hotel has been great over all. The staff are ALL wonderful and a delight to deal with. Literally everyone. The animation team as well, yes they don't come and insist and grab you like other hotels teams might do but.. how old are you??? If you want to join in, just join in when they announce. The team are so helpful and nice and friendly, I rather liked that they're not too pushy.
It's worth noting that this is one of the most constantly clean hotels I've ever been to in my life, I mean everywhere is clean, all the time.
The rooms are exceptionally spacious with a seating area that has a sofa, its own TV (separate from the bedroom's TV), a mini fridge freezer, electric hob, utensils, and a microwave and ample storage space!
The bed was very spacious and very comfortable. So were the pillows.
The bathroom is also very spacious and fine. The swimming pool has to be amongst the biggest you've ever been to for sure.
The food always had lots and lots of options, I've eaten my weight in different types of fish and sea food, however, despite the variety, the taste was ok at best and never hot, weirdly enough, always warm! But yeah you won't leave raving about the food.
The beach is very lovely with bus going and coming from it frequently. If you want sunbeds and an umbrella at the beach though it's €12 for half day or €17 for full day.
Because we went mid September, after the children have gone back to school almost everywhere, there were few numbers of kids generally so there wasn't a lot of noise generally. The entertainment at night is not something we attended but the sound came into our room sometimes unfortunately.
All on all, worthy of a 4 star rating and much better than other 4 star all inclusive I've been to before when you compare to the rest of Europe. If you compare to Turkey though, that's a different story because Turkey will always win £ for £.
Great hotel with lovely helpful friendly multi lingual staff.
Located a short walk from town with lots of choice of restaurants, bars and shops which are open late.
The area is nice, clean, and quiet too!
The hotel is really nice. The reception team are ace, always up for a laugh Leonardo and Paulo in particular were great!
The layout is good and the pool area is large with plenty of sunbeds and NONE of the stupid towels to bag a spot nonsense etc.
The hotel and pools are kept spotless.
The food has been varied and lots of choice. There are two main restaurants and they are spotless with great service.
The staff are superb, polite, efficient, what more do ya want?
Our room on the first floor was spotless spacious, quiet, cool with a balcony . The bed is enormous and comfortable slept really well.
The rooms were cleaned every day and were spotless when we came back. The hotel gives you two cards to get in to your room.
There is a beautiful spa, a masseuse service which was superb and highly professional.
Free usable WiFi !! Entertainment every night which to be fair was good! There animation team had things going at intervals all day, none of which was in any way intrusive or pushy! The aerobics in the pool was popular!
We had to leave at 330pm on our last day, and check out was 12. They’ve got a lovely solution for that too: lunch voucher provided free. Bags with permanently manned staff could be put safely packed away, with easy access and then free use of spa showers to prepare for the way home!
First rate and well done!! Will definitely come back!
