Aguahotels Alvor Jardim

The location of this hotel is the only plus point, situated only a 5 minute walk from the main strip, water front and another short stroll to the beach.

It's marketed as a 4 star hotel, which it is not but might have been when first built many years ago. It is tired and dated throughout, lacks atmosphere and has very basic amenities.

The entrance is up a flight if stairs or via a one-man external lift. The front door is manual and we struggled with our cases getting in. The reception staff offered us no assistance at all.

The reception area is lifeless, offering a basic seating area, well worn books and a dire bar.

After booking in, we were again offered no assistance by the staff getting to our room which we arrived at by a darkly lit corridor via a large fire door.

On entering the room, I immediately let out a few expletives as I surveyed our surroundings. The bedroom small and uninviting; the smallest balcony imaginable which overlooked a public car park, the kitchen was adequate, TV tiny. But the biggest problem was the bathroom which had been designed for disabled guests and left us feeling uncomfortable.

We had actually already upgraded via the Jet2 website so were massively disappointed in what we were allocated but reception informed me they had no alternatives to offer.

Because we were there for 11 nights we wanted something a little more comfortable and accommodating.

Breakfast was a continuous scenario of bland offerings. Hard and dry poached eggs were a particular favourite but to be served the same items day after day was depressing.

The pool area was acceptable but you have to enter via a shower enclosure which was not always appropriate and on occasion there were not enough sun loungers for all the guests.

All-in-all we were extremely disappointed in this hotel for the length of time we stayed and the money spent which included the upgrade.

If visiting this area we would recommend many other much more modern hotels and apartments.

Just back from ten days with my daughter ..... great place to stay ..... location ideal as literally a three min walk to centre of alvor .... great supermarket 2mins away Hotel itself is very clean and most of staff super friendly and helpful ....... pool bar serves tasty snacks ...... We had a studio room which was perfect for us ........ my only issue would be with the room towels ....... theres not enough of them especially when sharing a room with teen who needs them ALL !!!!! 😂 Overall a great stay and hope to revisit again !!!!!!!
