The 4-star Soreda Hotel is ideally located in a peaceful part of Qawra. The hotel is only a short walk away from the lively centre of Bugibba and the shoreline.
Stayed here in March/April and again in July 2026, both stays were half board.
I’m going to start my review on a positive note. The hotel is nice, clean, friendly staff and the rooms are a good size. The breakfast buffet has an amazing choice of food. The indoor pool in March was warm and was welcomed as the weather was awful. The roof top pool in July was amazing and the view is stunning. Hotel location is a 10min walk from the beach, the bus station, with lots of choice of places to eat or drink.
Unfortunately now the negative. On the rooftop where had sat for 5 days consecutively, we placed our towels on the loungers, glasses, vapes on the table and my bag under the table. The loungers were pushed tight to the table to keep room for other people, if needed. We took a quick (5-7min) dip in the pool. Came back to find, our vapes and bag were stolen. There was a T-shirt on the ground at my lounger which didn’t not belong to us. We assume it was from the person who took my bag. On saying that, we didn’t see anyone around where we were hoping to sunbathe.
My hubby looked around while I notified the bar staff. There was a couple who we seen in the 5days up on the rooftop, I asked if they saw anyone, they seen a young couple lingering about but didn’t see my bag. They said they looked suspicious!
Kieran informed the manager and he came up to see where we had our belongings and clothes. We were told to go to the police station, we did, we were there for an hour. T-shirt was returned back to the hotel reception, don’t ask as we have no idea! The Maltese police officer was not very helpful.
For insurance purposes, on every level at both sets of lifts, I took photos of the cctv cameras, reception area, roof top pool and out side of reception.
We saw the manager the next day and asked if the police had been for the cctv they hadn’t been. He told me the insurance would cover it. Our taxi was booked for 3am, on departure from the hotel, I asked the nightshirt receptionist if the police had been, they had. I checked my email and was told, the cctv didn’t cover that part of the rooftop and that the “case” was closed!
However after returning home, enquiring about a claim, bags unattended are not covered.
I feel very disappointed that 1 - the hotel didn’t call the police 2 - manager did not check the cctv straight away, as someone with a logo T-shirt enters the building and leaves topless with bag, would be easily spotted and you get the criminal quicker and the identity to passed onto the police. 3 - they didn’t any point ask about my welfare.
I feel as guests, the hotel need to put cctv to that section of the rooftop and also have signs stating not to leave valuable personal belongings unattended.
My bag was my hand luggage, which I had to replace, along with the contents and I am now £700 out of pocket. Thankfully, what they stole was marked as stolen, very secure access, so it is worth nothing to them. The vapes are replaceable, the vape oil, the suntan lotion, which isn’t cheap to buy in Malta. There was other stuff in the bag which I can’t remember, but it is gone.
I loved Malta but I will not be returning for a number of years, as I trust no-one.
Very disappointed is an understatement.
Find a sun bed by the pool, go to get a drink, hey presto, someone nicks it!! 🤬 this has happened EVERY time I’ve sat near the pool. No where near enough space by the pool for the amount of folks staying there!
Absolutely amazing people who work here. And food! Personal thanks for amazing gentleman who worked on Friday 10th of July and when o had a dinner he got worried for my safety (i am! So so unique and kind to ask in very gentle way female traveling with 2 males if ok. First time happened to me and so much love to this caring gentleman from Norway ❤️❤️❤️❤️)
We have just returned from a week in Malta, and can honestly say we have had a very relaxing week. From the moment of check in until we left, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We found the food on offer in the restaurant was of a very high standard and catered for lots of different tastes. The Chef told me he was pleased to see I took a little of something to try and then came back for more, when I liked it. The service was also excellent, never many minutes to wait for a drink or for your empty dishes to be cleared.
There is a roof top pool and bar area, which was very popular with the guests. On Saturday nights they put on a big bbq, which guests are offered tickets for, but is also open to local residents. We opted to pay the 20 euros extra and go, and were not disappointed. I have never seen a BBQ like it, so much to choose from, and so many sides to choose from too. Also excellent entertainment from a singer I was told had represented Malta in Eurovision a few years ago.
There is also a small coffee bar opposite the main restaurant if you want a slightly more chilled area to relax in. We also had a nice morning in the indoor pool out of the heat, which was most relaxing.
The lifts are fairly new and very efficient. We had a room on the 3rd floor. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, although the decor was a little dated. The furnishings in the room were of a good standard and there was plenty of storage. The ensuite bathroom was a bath with a shower over, which may be difficult for older guests. Most importantly the air conditioning was good and we both slept well. We would certainly look at booking the Sorada if we return to Malta. One word of warning if getting a bus transfer from the airport there is a possibility you will be dropped by an Iceland shop and expected to drag your cases up a steep hill. We would book a car next time.
Avoid its rubbish , some one defecated in the pool just added chemicals pool was not closed . Party hotel till 5am its a dump!
