Right at the heart of Qawra, right at the heart of the action, the Santana hotel has to be one of Malta's most desirable spots. With its light sea blue livery, the hotel signposts its location – just a minute from the seafront itself.
The Qawra seafront is a favourite spot for holidaymakers, with its many shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Beyond the promenade is another of its main attractions, the rocky beach, a haven for swimmers and sun bathers – and a great place to explore. Qawra is also home to some of Malta's most prized cultural sites too – no visit is complete without a trip to the historical towers and the church of St Francis of Assisi.
Even with such a perfect location, the Santana Hotel is more than just a base for exploring and enjoying Malta. It is, after all, a four star hotel with four star facilities to match.
There's a Wellness club offering over 80 health & beauty therapy treatments (at a fee ) and adding to the spa feel is a sauna and the opportunity for a massage (at a fee), plus a superb wellness centre with over plenty of treatments available.
After all of that, you can pick and choose one of the bars or restaurant's to while away a few pleasant hours in the evening.
Guests of the Santana Hotel often like to round things off by staying to enjoy the hotel's own schedule of entertainment – it does make for a very sociable end to the day.
Finally to bed. All rooms feature an en suite bathroom, most have a bath/shower and some just have showers. Rooms also feature tip top amenities like satalite TV (with pay TV), radio and hairdryer. Another bonus – keeping the temperature just right is a cinch with the centrally controlled air conditioning. Rooms were fully renovated in 2019 including the bathrooms which all rooms except Studio's feature a walk-in shower. Please note. All rooms free Wi-Fi and free use of safe. Most rooms feature a balcony – so you can look out at the twinkling lights of Qawra. Please note 'Economy Rooms' do not feature a balcony but only a window.
The Santana Hotel is as much a reason to choose Qawra for your Maltese holiday destination as the towers of the Knights of St John, or the beaches or the accessibility to other locations. Choosing the right hotel really is that important.

Just a minute from the picturesque seafront at Qawra, the Santana is at the heart of one of Malta's prime tourist areas with excellent shops and entertainment. Guest facilities include an indoor freshwater pool with jacuzzi, a sauna and massage (at a fee) and fitness room. Meals are served in the main dining room.
Im a residence of Malta, visiting Cafè Castagna several times a week, and would like to thank very much for the high quality and entertaining live music at Cafè Castagna, very talented musicians performing all year round. The cafè offering tasty snacks, cakes and drinks, a very welcoming and skilled staff who take the service to an extremely high level. See you soon! We have rather mixed feelings about the hotel; overall, it is very clean, and the renovated areas—such as the rooftop pool—are beautiful. The staff are very polite and eager to help. However, there are no hairdryers in the rooms; in a room for four, there are only two towel hooks in the bathroom, and there are no power outlets there either. These small details haven't been well thought out. The hotel is in a good location, close to the beach and the promenade, with plenty of restaurants and small shops nearby.
Stayed at the santana hotel as a bed and breakfast guest. Room was very basic had everything we need take an extension lead as sockets are at a minimum and no USB sockets. although the constant noise of the generator from the courtyard was a little frustrating. Beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. Pools are lovely and all staff were fab so polite and welcoming. Hotel is kept clean and staff work hard to maintain this. We had a power cut while there this was no fault of the hotel but was resolved quickly. We only ate breakfast at the hotel adequate and enough to choose from. Some guests that arrived during our last few days were extremely noisy in the corridors and did not seem to have any regard to others in the hotel. This is no fault of the hotel and I heard other guests asking them to be quiet. Good location for main bus station and a walk into square and beach although a bit Hilly walking back ok for us. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would probably choose another location although buggibia does have a lot to offer.
The Highlights Service: The housekeeping team did a fantastic job keeping everything spotless throughout our stay, and the bar staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Pools: The swimming pools themselves are lovely, clean, and great for cooling off. Areas for Improvement Noise & Sleep: A generator runs 24/7 right outside, and the constant drone was clearly audible from our room, making it difficult to get a quiet night’s sleep. Pool Area & Layout: While the pools are great, the sunbeds around them are packed tightly together with almost no breathing room. Logistics: The elevators bottleneck badly, leading to frustratingly long waits during peak hours. Food & Amenities: Dining fell short; the food lacked variety, felt repetitive, and the quality was underwhelming. We were also surprised by the lack of basic essentials, notably readily available drinking water.
We returned after the hotel’s refurbishment the pool area is fantastic. As for the staff they are all brilliant so helpful polite and very attentive, they do the hotel proud. Cannot wait to return thank you all
