Santana Hotel

I was skeptical when reading some of the reviews regarding this hotel before our family stay. However, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We arrived at night and were greeted by polite and friendly staff, the hotel refurbishment looks great! Maybe a few little tweaks to finish bits off but overall it looks really aesthetic. We had a family room and was ideal, really spacious, easy to use walk in shower, tv, balcony and everything we needed. The room was made every day with clean towels etc. I was shocked at how big the rooftop is, 2 larger pools and a smaller children’s pool with shade. Plenty of sunbeds, easy access toilet facilities and lifts to get up there. Good current music and friendly atmosphere. The staff at the pool bar couldn’t do enough, they worked really hard and ran all over to ask if we needed drinks throughout the day etc. They were very polite and efficient. The bar near the lobby is so nice, air conditioning inside or a lovely seating area outside. The staff in there were so professional, smartly dressed and there is a bonus of 2-4-1 drinks between 6pm-7pm, wine, beers, spirits, cocktails. The cocktails were beautifully presented and tasty. The food we thought was great! The dining area is very spacious, more than enough choice and the food especially the meats were cooked to perfection and we like GOOD food. I noticed they also cooked meals for children who were maybe picky which I thought was a nice touch. Pour your own soft drinks, wines and beers at meal times which is great. My husband and son really enjoyed the breakfast too. Apologies, I can’t remember her name but the lady who greets you at dinner was soo lovely, polite, welcoming and always had a smile on her face. Big shout out to Bimod he went above and beyond to ask if we needed anything, cleared plates, glasses etc and was so polite and happy. The hotel is near the bus station which we used to travel to Valletta which is absolutely beautiful and well worth the journey. I have stayed in many beautiful hotels with 5* plus standards of stay, food and drinks and I am quite shocked at some of the bad reviews (everyone’s experience is different) however, this hotel is totally worth the 4*, great value for money and I think if people are expecting too high expectations then they need to book a more expensive hotel to meet that expectation. Couldn’t recommend enough and we will definately be returning and spreading the word for anyone who wants a trip to Malta. Thank you Hotel Santana

I've been coming here for years recent renovations are good to a point as their not complete. Roof top pools and cafeteria really good. Reception and bar area excellent. Raman a Waiter in the bar is a joy to interact with and is an asset to the Hotel which should be appreciated as he's only been there a month so we'll done to him hope he's recognised .Also but not least soya can be included in the above. ​Overall Rating: 2 / 5 ​Location: 4 / 5 ​Cleanliness: 10 / 10 ​Service / Staff: 10 / 10 ​Value: 2 / 5 ​ ​We recently stayed at Hotel Santana as a family group across two rooms on a Half Board Plus package. ​First, I want to give tremendous credit to the hotel staff and housekeepers.

The cleanliness is a 10/10 throughout the building—our rooms were kept spotless, and the housekeeping team works incredibly hard under difficult circumstances. The staff are also a 10/10—friendly, hardworking, and trying their best to manage issues outside their control.

​Unfortunately, despite the staff's best efforts, severe ongoing hotel infrastructure issues ruined a significant portion of our stay. ​During our trip, the hotel suffered two separate total water outages, which also affected the air conditioning during hot weather. Having no running water meant no working toilets, no handwashing, and no showers across the property. While the hotel eventually brought in a water bowser to keep the restaurant kitchen running for Half Board meals, having zero water or cooling in our bedrooms for extended periods was unacceptable—especially with two young children.

Communication during these outages was non-existent, with no text updates or explanatory signs posted for guests.

​To top it off, at 7:00 AM one morning, our room was woken up by contractors hammering and stripping plaster off the corridor walls right outside our door. While the Duty Manager was helpful and came up immediately to take photos and inspect the issue, heavy structural building work should never be carried out in guest corridors during early morning resting hours.

​The hard-working staff and spotless cleanliness (10/10 for both) are a credit to the hotel.

However, until management permanently resolves their plumbing infrastructure and stops disruptive early-morning construction, it is impossible to recommend staying here.
