The luxurious Grand Hotel overlooks the beautiful Mgarr harbour on the stunning little Maltese island of Gozo. The harbour displays a picturesque selection of colourful fishing boats and from the hotel; the views of the Mediterranean and across the Gozo channel are truly magnificent. This is an ideal place to get away from it all and relax, especially at sundown sipping a cocktail in the rooftop bar and restaurant.
Gozo is a small island and the Grand Hotel is a perfect base for your Maltese holiday. For many of us, getting away from the hustle and bustle of day to day living is exactly what a holiday is for. When you arrive at the Grand Hotel, you'll find this is just the right place to do that in comfort.
Gozo is much smaller than the Maltese mainland and has retained a charming sense of timelessness all its own. The Grand Hotel is located right in the harbour, a perfect place for an evening stroll to take in the sights, colours and sounds of seaside life as the sun goes down.
The Grand Hotel really does live up to its name. From the outside, the façade is impressive and the pool affords a lovely view across the water as you swim. Inside, the hotel is of a high standard with well furnished rooms and tasteful décor. All rooms are en suite, some rooms feature a walk-in shower, but most offer a bathtub. All rooms have air conditioning and heating to ensure your comfort, whatever time of year you choose to visit. Rooms are also equipped with satellite TV, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities, Wi-Fi, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. If you really want to make the most of this wonderful location, seaview and superior rooms are available at a supplement – just ask when you book.
The views are also fantastic from the restaurant and bar which you'll find on the rooftop of the hotel. Just imagine yourself enjoying an aperitif, whilst gazing out across the harbour and looking forward to a delicious evening meal. This is what holidays at the Grand Hotel are all about. And you'll be well looked after for the duration of your stay. The Maltese are always pleased to welcome UK visitors and here is no different.

July 26 Stay B&B Great Hotel, junior suite. Large, clean, great views, breakfast 4/5. Drinks decent prices, no local shops. Plenty of decent restaurants and not expensive. Would t return but no fault of the hotel. 39-43c was a killer.
My husband and I had a fabulous time at the Grand Hotel. We had an issue with our room and this was dealt with in an efficient, professional manner. Our room had a beautiful balcony overlooking the harbour which created the perfect backdrop. Breakfast was always extremely well organised with lost of selection. The highlight was me was the gorgeous infinity pool. The view was here was spectacular. We would highly recommend room 203. We will be back!!
The hotel was not what I expected whatsoever, the whole layout is very peculiar with current renovations having had and currently taking place meaning that some of the hotel is nicer and more modernised while the other half is grubby and old. These renovations were not made clear on the website as they should have been . Also lots of the hallways were very unpleasant smelling, musty and grubby and made me think of the movie backrooms with some having the very same old fashioned dark yellow appearance, which felt quite eerienot to mention the elevators. When we first arrived I went on the ground lift with my sister near the reception area and as we went up it kept jolting up and down and would not open leaving us stuck inside for abtuntil it began to open half way then slammed shut again (which was honestly so scary and we were almost in tears) before finally we made it out. We were first put in a room in the unrenovated side of the hotel which was absolutely abhorrent and made me question whether it was a 4 star or 2 star hotel with stains and marks covering everything like the doors and carpets and lamps before the hotel hesitantly found us an another room in the renovated side which although cost more was definitely worth it. I will say though you can tell the renovations have been carried out very cheaply tho with gaps between the floorboards, tatty curtains etc. In addition the food is also disgusting so after day one I didn't not even touch it again and went elsewhere for breakfast. Now the worst thing abt the hotel is the noise from the builders. I was woken up each day by the sound of banging, drilling and pounding which honestly was a disgrace as I personally go on holiday to relax not to feel like I’m in the middle of a building site. The noise kept going on throughout the day so I could never catch a break. Please don’t waste ur money and go elsewhere!
We have just returned from a truly wonderful time at The Grand! It far surpassed my expectations! Beautiful hotel, stunning views of the harbour and pretty church. Short walk to the pretty, bustling harbour. Getting the Gozo ferry line is super straightforward. They run every 20 mins all day and night and it’s very cheap. Very clean room and comfortable big bed. Stunning infinity pool overlooking the harbour. Big screen outside on the grand terrace to the front of the hotel streaming all the football matches (which made our son very happy). Do not be put off by other reviews commenting on the building work. There is no building work going on through the summer! It’s a very peaceful hotel. It looks as though the one side of the hotel is closed completely and has been undergoing renovations (to what look like a very high standard). This is the only reason why I think this hotel is such incredible value currently. If you are in two minds, I would snap this gem up now because I think when the whole hotel is finished it will be truly remarkable and they will up their prices to reflect this. The food is of an excellent standard! Full dinner service with set menu if you book half board and rooftop BBQ on three nights (all included) which is a very classy affair actually, not what we expected at all! Superb value for money! The Michelin star recommended restaurant of floor 9 is just wonderful. It’s clear the head chef is very passionate about all the food served throughout the hotel. We witnessed him collecting baskets of fresh herbs which are all grown on site. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff. They are all so friendly, hardworking and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. A special thank you to Daniellla and the team who could not do enough for us. This is a truly charming hotel in a prime location. Definitely visit Victoria (15 mins away on the 301 public air conditioned bus, bus stop a short walk away) and see the Citadel there. Also, get the Fast Ferry direct from the harbour to Valletta. Don’t be put off by people saying it made them seasick. I suffer with terrible travel sickness and whilst I was very nervous taking it, I was perfectly fine! It’s only 40 mins. There’s a light buffeting, but I found this more relaxing than anything. Valletta has a very romantic Venetian charm. You should get a gondola from there over to the Three Cities for just 3 euros per person. It’s only 10 mins away. Tip: Don’t bother waiting for the lift to get down to the sea (1 euro), take the stairs to the left (if you are fairly fit it’s not too taxing). The Blue Lagoon is definitely worth visiting too! Honestly, we were a bit nervous booking this hotel as we are used to staying in 5 star hotels in Madeira but we had a truly special break!
This is a review for the spa situated within the Grand hotel. This afternoon my friend and myself booked the afternoon package of a full body massage and facial with lunch. We had the most relaxing and beautiful visit. Mariana treated us so kindly and performed the most amazing treatments. We both left feeling relaxed and refreshed and looking forward to revisiting.
