Tsilivi is a popular holiday resort that boasts a superb beach with many facilities and gentle waters, making it ideal for families.
Sun Rise Hotel is just 500 meters from the town. It boasts an outdoor swimming pool, bar, restaurant, 24 hour reception, free wi-fi and a shuttle bus to the beach (scheduled upon managements discretion).
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We really would have liked to give a greater rating to a 4 star hotel. We will start our review with the positives. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, efficient and reasonably quiet air conditioning, spacious room, adequate and comfortable sun loungers with waterproof padded toppers, no problem getting around the pool at any time of day. Friendly staff, very good choice at breakfast, warm breakfast was cooked to order. Pool bar had poolside service although it was cashless, either pay immediately on card or charge, to room where it was possible to settle by cash payment.
The negatives. Our booking documents clearly state that our accommodation was to be a double deluxe room with pool view. The very spacious room (7m x 5m) clearly had potential room for clothes storage, there were NO drawers and NO shelving with only the equivalent of a single wardrobe with 7 coat hangers. This may be adequate for the sort term guests that use the hotel, we observed many 2 and 3 night stays, definitely not adequate for 14 nights. Earlier in the year we had moved our holiday from another resort due to bad reviews at our original booking, we elected to come to the Sunrise after reading the seemingly positive management response to similar comments last year that implied that the “management had acted on this and clothes storage provision had been made” A review posted a few weeks ago seems to highlight similar concerns with what appears to be a response comment made in reception that “ standard rooms do not have drawers and shelves “. By inference this implies that deluxe rooms do have shelving and drawers. If this is the case please indicate whether room 101 is deluxe or standard. We ostensibly paid for a deluxe room, if this is the rating for room 101 living out of suitcases for two weeks is not acceptable in a 4 star hotel. Also of concern were the 3 rusting screw heads at shoulder level protruding about 5mm from one of the shower walls.
We’ve just come back from a gorgeous 11-night stay at the Sunrise Hotel and had such a chilled and relaxing holiday. We stayed in the Junior Suites with private pools. The location right by the pool was great, although we probably wouldn’t choose these particular rooms again. They were a little small for everything we had with us and, as I’d read in previous reviews, storage is limited. I didn’t realise quite how much of an impact that would have until we got there! That said, it definitely didn’t stop us loving the hotel.
The hotel is around a 10-minute walk to the restaurants, with plenty more bars and restaurants another 5 minutes or so further on. We noticed lots of people had hired cars, which would be handy if you want to explore more.
There were always plenty of sunbeds, with cushions available, and the pool area is lovely. They even have a DJ and saxophonist on a Monday for a couple of hours, which was a great touch.
We ate at the pool bar every day and the food was honestly so good! We tried something different every day and everything was spot on, with really reasonable prices too.
But the real highlight has to be the staff. From reception to the cleaners, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. A special mention has to go to the pool bar team — Christina, Billy, Veronica, Panagiotis and Alexis. They were such a lovely group and made our stay that little bit more special with how welcoming and thoughtful they were.
Another fabulous stay at this adults only family run hotel. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. Rooms are cleaned daily with linen and towel changes every 2/3 days. We stayed in a superior room overlooking the pool and this room also had a big balcony. A special thank you to Christina and Billy who looked after us so well at the pool bar. We will be returning again.
Just writing this review on our last day at the Sunrise Tsilivi. This is our fourth time is Tsilivi and overall, taking everything into consideration it's our new No.1.
The location is perfect for us. No more than a 10-12 minute walk into the centre which is great for both racking up the steps and walking off the mornings breakfast or (usually substantial) evening meal
The accommodation itself was really good with only a few little things we would suggest are improved. As adults only it's a very chilled and relaxed place. Great cool tunes played from the bar everyday, a DJ (and saxophonist) once a week or so. Food from the bar is courtesy of Gyroland in town (so it's really good). Mythos on tap. Usual spirits etc available. You can also charge food to the room if you wish.
Breakfast in the morning runs from 7.30 (no chance hitting that!) until 10am which is fine. Eggs omelettes bacon etc to order and in addition loads of choices of yogurts fruit bread cakes and continental stuff. Great. Gluten free was also catered for (bread) on request as well.as Soya and Oat milk for the fairy free too. Staff lovely too btw from reception desk, bar staff and the cleaners who were all ace. We were allowed a slightly later (hour and a half) checkout too with no issues.
Pool was amazing. Really spacious for Tsilivi and a lot of deck chairs but could probably do with a few more as in the second week there was an influx of guests and you had to get out pronto in the morning to grab a couple. There's plenty of space around the pool (we liked the grass areas which had natural tree shade) so you don't feel cramped at all.
Now to the small recommendations we would make it to bring the hotel up to a true 5 star review.
As others have commented storage is at a premium with no drawers. Really easy fix as there's plenty of space to put a chest. There is a lot of (open) hanging space so that was fine and a (high) shelf above that but just a few drawers would have really helped. Additionally in the bathroom the shower head didn't have a hook (not a major problem really but again a really easy fix) and there's again no hanging space for towels (we bought some "sucker" hooks from the spar which worked really well and were invaluable. The beds are a matter of personal preference. They weren't soft. They were too hard for wife. Okish for me though. Some new mattresses needed perhaps. Again nothing too difficult to address.
We had the plunge pool room. 109. Which was great and was lovely to take a dip in.
Overall a fabulous restful stay at our new No.1. We would absolutely recommend it to anyone. Hopefully in the off season a few drawers and hooks can be fitted 😃.
Just returned from a wonderful week at this hotel . Can’t fault a thing , the place is immaculate , the breakfast is good and plentiful , and the staff are very friendly. It’s a very short walk into the main town with the beach being a little further . If we went again we’d probably pay a little more to get room upgrade . Don’t hesitate just book it , really lovely place to stay .
