This family-friendly hotel is situated in Psalidi, around 50 m from the closest pebble beach and quite close to the centre of Kos. The hotel area is surrounded by large verandas and beautiful gardens. The bus station, restaurants, shops and bars are within walking distance; the popular nightspots are just a few kilometres away.
Be sure to enjoy recreational amenities including an outdoor pool and an outdoor tennis court. This hotel also features complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and an arcade/games room.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
we are just home after a lovely stay at The Continental Palace . The room was nice and was cleaned every day by the lovely cleaners the only downside was the shower as mentioned by others but this didn’t spoil our stay another bonus would have been a kettle . The food was varied and you would be hard pushed not to find anything that you would like . The staff at the hotel are all lovely always happy pass the time of day an asset to the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to others .
When we arrived in our room, there was a cat lying on our bed. We love cats, but they can carry fleas, and what if we had been allergic? It had apparently got into the room through the open balcony door. In the main area near the reception, there were old sofas. I actually saw a cat urinating on one of them. I reported it to the reception, but during the four hours we spent there waiting for our transfer, nobody cleaned or disinfected the sofa. People were still sitting on it. The food was below average and, unfortunately, nothing really tasted good. The furniture and hotel facilities were old and inadequate. The only positive thing was the swimming pool and the sun loungers. However, there were roosters running around, and their constant crowing repeatedly interrupted our sleep and relaxation. Our room was clean, but it was clearly worn and outdated. The shower/bath curtains were absolutely disgusting — yellow and stained, although they were obviously originally white. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. There is nothing to do if you are not going to the city which is 30 minutes walk, beach that is near the hotel is small, dirty…
This hotel is under new management since last year, more recent reviews are more relevant.
Reception staff have been friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make sure guests have a pleasant experience.
My room was unlocked when I found it. I arrived after dinner and a bag containing a small bottle of water, carton of juice and a wrap with lettuce, thin slice of cheese and slice of spam type 'meat' folded into it, had been left in my room for me. A piece of fruit would have been nice and luckily I'm not vegetarian.
There are no kettles or tea/coffee facilities in the room, I've requested one but nobody seems to know if I will receive one... There is a fridge.
The room is spacious, a bit tired and basic, with 3 beds which are hard and a good amount of furniture. I'm on the ground floor and there are lots of cats, in and around the hotel which can be heard fighting. One of them seems to have made my balcony it's home and, if I open thd door it is keen to come in. I've requested an alternative room on a higher floor. There are also hens and a cockrel running around and crowing first thing.
Breakfast was alright, if you prefer not to have cooked breakfast, options are very limited, only 3 fruit choices or tinned in syrup.
Dinner was not pleasant... the salad was OK but would have been better if there were more options available. The main course was horrible, cheap processed roast, you can guess the rest, dessert was no better, sponge piped with fake cream, highly coloured mousse and melon was the only fruit on offer. I was there soon after the restaurant opened, thankfully, because those who came later were left to clear tables so that they could eat. There were limited staff who were busy taking drinks orders then continually walked past tables needing to be cleared. It didn't look like there was anyone on clearing so I guess they are expected to do it all. The food was constantly topped up and I didn't see anything run out even though it was very busy.
The pool area looks nice enough and there were enough loungers. There's a pool bar and snack bar which I didn't try. They don't offer towels.
Although the hotel is close to the sea front, they don't seem to have an area of thd beach for guests so you have to pay for a lounger on the beach if you want one.
Just stayed here for a week. Welcoming staff members ( especially Irene of front desk.) room clean spacious cleaned daily if wanted. Polite cleaning staff . Breakfast evening meals ok. Great location close to beach harbour etc
Over all this is a very good hotel. I'll start with the negatives though. The shower was pretty bad. It's quite clear that the hot water system cannot cope with such a big building that accommodates so many people at the same time. At times there was no hot water at all coming through the shower or sink tap. A kettle and some cups in the room would be a good addition as that is pretty standard these days. Breakfast was good food wise but beware of other guests being like zombies with no awareness that you're there. Everyone walks into each other as though they're the only ones wanting to eat and it's not necessary when there is always plenty there and it's continually topped up. Quite typical of all buffet style meals where people lose their manners. Photos are pretty accurate. The building is lovely and very clean. We were on the side that hasn't yet been updated but still perfectly nice. Maids come in every day unless you leave the sign on the door. The pool bar is probably the best feature of the place. Plenty of space for sunbathing or sitting in the shade. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. The food they serve is lovely and can sometimes do as a meal. The main bar in the evening is also very good. A lovely lady called Anika runs it. I would say some fairy lights in the outdoor part would add a better ambience. Town isn't too far but depending on your mobility and level of fitness, the walk can be a drag at times. Buses are not very regular and taxis are hit and miss. Generally speaking, this is a very good and well run hotel with pleasant, helpful staff. Good facilities for when you check out and have to wait for your transfer, ie, baggage room, shower and continued use of the bar and comfortable furniture. I would have rated 5 stars if it wasn't for the negatives mentioned above.
