It is Chrousso Village, a different kind of hotel, that welcomes you, ready to cater for all your needs and extend the kind of hospitality you are entitled to.
This resort, surrounded by a forest of pine trees, resembles a village with wide spread 17 accommodation buildings set among mature gardens respecting the local flora in a landscape of 40.000 sqm. Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We are here 3rd year in a row and there is no better place for a family with kids to be .
My girlfriend and I visited this hotel at the start of June for 7 nights on their all inclusive package, I will break my review down into various categories, as below;
Staff - absolutely no complaints, from check in until departure all staff were very friendly, professional and helpful, from the reception staff, to the restaurant staff & cleaners. 5/5
Room - We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms. The room was lovely. The Air conditioning in the room was amazing. The room had a fridge (although not stocked), TV, safe, large modern bathroom & shower and a king size bed which was excellent. My only complaint is no bottled water, tea, coffee, milk was present in the room and water had to be purchased from the local shop. For an all inclusive 4* hotel, bottled water I felt should have been provided. 4/5
Food - After seeing some negative reviews online I was sceptical about the food in the main buffet restaurant. Fair to say I was pleasantly surprised. All of the food I ate was tasty & fresh. The salad bar was amazing, the grilled meats cooked fresh on an evening were very good. Breakfast was decent but could become a bit repetitive. The Baklava was the star of the show for me, I could tell it was made fresh and I ate lots during my stay. My only complaint of the food was it felt a bit repetitive, more variation of fruits, breakfast food would have been appreciated and I felt like a lot of pork was served. More fish & seafood would have been a nice touch. 4/5
Drinks - The main bar provides all inclusive cocktails, whilst these are not made fresh and are from a machine they tasted nice and were a good quality. The beer provided at the bars and main restaurant was tasty and always cold. Coffee from the machines was also a decent enough quality. We wished that the main restaurant kept the coffee machines on all day and not only for breakfast, as a coffee after dinner with dessert would have been appreciated. The wine served for all inclusive guests was not the best, but overall drinks were good. 4.5/5
Pools - The hotel has 2 pools, the main large one is located next to a bar and the main restaurant. It was a very nice pool, very clean, good size. There were plenty of loungers around it and we never struggled to get one. The second pool was smaller and quieter and located at the rear area of the hotel. This also featured a bar. We only visited this pool once, it’s ideal for families with small children. No complaints on the pools. 5/5
Cleanliness - The hotel was very clean and tidy and the grounds were well maintained. Housekeeping replenished towels and made the bed daily however the bedding was not changed. I feel like staying for 7 nights I would have expected the bedding to be changed by housekeeping. 4/5
Location - The hotel is located a short walk from the beach, which was lovely. The hotel provides a daily free shuttle bus which visits the local town twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. This is booked at reception 24hrs prior. It was a great addition which we used numerous times. The hotel is also very quiet which helped contribute to a relaxing stay. 5/5
Entertainment - The hotel provides entertainment daily, although we did not take part in any of this so I cannot comment, however the staff who provided the entertainment were friendly. The live music in the evenings by the bar was a nice touch. The main negative for me was having to pay for tennis. They wanted €20 an hour to play. Again, for an all inclusive we felt this should have been provided and a deposit for equipment. A shame 3/5
Overall a lovely stay at a relaxing hotel. I’d say it’s a lower end 4* hotel but with some small tweaks and improvements it would be even better. I recommend staying here if you want a relaxing hotel.
We had a lovely relaxing 10 night stay, being early in season it’s quiet, we did arrive about an hour or so before room ready and was checked in and wrist bands on , able to have lunch. grounds are lovely , and only 10mins walk to beach, as early was lovely and deserted . Sea bit chilly but ok.
We was in the loft room renovated, very nice , lovely view .comfy beds Maid change towels every day, made beds. Fine , nice hairdryer , kettle, but lucky we brought out own tea bags/coffee and got milk /water from shop . Fridge in room. Nice fly screen when having door open, can link tv to phone to watch Netflix
Only negative the shower can flood floor as no door , so using towels to dry. Floor not always swept Glass between balconies so don’t feel private. Luckily we didn’t have many people on our side and they didn’t sit on balcony. No air Con , we did complain , we did sleep as warm on top floor no sheet and door open all stay. They said was too early in season ! Being remote seem hear dogs at night and get woken by a lot birds in morning. Also is up very steep 2 flights stairs , no lift. Was fit by end of holiday, lol !
The food is the main let down otherwise would given 5 stars. Mostly barely warm , shame as tasted ok. even on the show cooking area mostly pre cooked and hit and miss if hot. Sometimes get a warm plate. Don’t think the heat lamps work very well. And worried , but surprisingly never had upset tummy. Was quite repetitive and struggled some days. Did nice pizza couple nights and was hot , nuggets and mousaka. But always salad and Greek cheese ! Bread lovely , desserts ok again bit same. Italian restaurant not open as early in season.
Rose wine ok and beer in restaurant. Luckily we took our own duty free drink as found from the bar mostly sweet syrup tasting alcohol so never went there
And they allow smoking inside bar so put us off going in , different rules abroad. And when it rains very limited areas to sit.
We liked the quiet pool , strangely always roped off. But did go in for swim ! Like few others .
Free bus to Pekhochori is good and nice to walk around. About 10mins drive. Cafes , bars, shops restaurants have to book at reception Leaves 10am. Back at 2pm Evening 7pm. Comes back 10pm
We did book at reception excursion, cruise to mount Athos , very nice and saw dolphins. Go on pirate ship , get off at Ouranoupolis for short time, shops/ restaurants, recommend Mamoynia -lovely pizza /burger .
Hotel staff polite and helpful. Lady at shop very helpful outside hotel, good selection food/ souvenirs, And a well stocked beach shop.
There are pros and cons with this hotel like most hotels. Pros first, very well kept garden clean and presentable. Cosy beds cleaners did a fantastic job too!! Reception staff are excellent they will help you with anything you require and were so friendly! Peaceful surroundings, decent food, bar was ok but lots of wasps and all inclusive cocktails were pretty good! Free bus to Pefkochori which was a life saver as it's in a remote spot and beach is ten min walk and is fantastic! Cons; As it's remote you can't really go walking as it's all up hill, no shops nearby except the onsite shop which was more expensive. Do not do the CAVE TRIP it took 2-3 hours to get there and back so wasn't worth seeing to be honest, it was an incredibly long day on a coach! No door on the shower so the bathroom turned into a swimming pool and no drinks in the fridge not even any water which would have been decent considering we were all inclusive and yes there was a kettle but no tea or coffee, luckily I brought my own. Sun loungers were uncomfortable so I took a pillow with me. No price list at the bar and I didn't feel comfortable asking how much is a disaronno. No snacks apart from some tiny pastries which was disappointing. Pay extra for proper coffee which I did once for €5. Would I say this is a 4 star hotel, no I think it's a 3 star but if you really want to get away from it all then it's a good shout. Entertainment was minimal but it was the start of the season. We really enjoyed our holiday though because we were able to use the free bus and visit poloychrono and Hanoiti so all in all a really lovely relaxing break. Ps if you love a spa there's one about ten minutes drive away but get a cab cos there are lots of hills! Thank you for looking after us.
Firstly let me say the grounds of this hotel is beautiful and maintained to a very high standard, everything was clean and the beds were very conformable. (We had a renovated room) I have marked this as a 4 and not 5 for the following reasons.
The pool should open at 10am but the lifeguard seemed to kinda turn up whenever he would like, he was in charge of the towels and moving the sun beds back to where they should be around the pool. Personally I don’t think the lifeguard should be sorting out towels for people his eyes should be fully on the pool. Also I’ve never known a lifeguard to sit in a corner under a tree, every place I go to the lifeguard is up high or in the centre to have a clear view. 3. Entertainment - think they were all knew, seemed nervous and not really sure what they were doing. By the end of the week, more activities was happening but a little too late for us. (They were very friendly and polite)
Everything was lovely and the beach near by which was about 10 minute walk is absolutely stunning and you should definitely go, they also do water sports on here. Overall we had a great stay so thank you, but think of those few things were tweaked I would have give you 5 stars. 1 shout out to the manager, I don’t know her name but she was there every day of our stay and always had a smile and always made us feel happy and welcome. She was always in the pool bar.
Thank you for our holiday.
