This exclusive beach hotel is situated on a private peninsula in Crete, right by the sandy beach and surrounded by beautiful Botanical Gardens. The complex lies within minutes of the picturesque fishing village of Agia Pelagia. There are also many shopping venues as well as countless bars, nightclubs and restaurants in the vicinity. Links to the public transport network lie within easy walking distance. Heraklion, the capital of Crete, is a 20-minute drive from the hotel and the airport is situated approximately 25 km from the hotel (roughly a 20-minute drive). Alternatively, Chania airport is 100 km away and it is 150 km to Sitia airport.
This upscale resort hotel is located on a private peninsula, 20 minutes from the City and the International Airport of Heraklion and next to the traditional fishing village of Aghia Pelaghia. Out Of The Blue Resort & Spa is ideally, centrally situated on the island of Crete, providing easy and quick access to all Ancient Sites for excursions. The property is outstretched over this unique peninsula resembling a Cretan Village and is surrounded by a Botanical Park of 167.000 sq. m. / 1.796.920 sq. ft. with beautiful Aegean views, extensive gardens, green pathways, ponds, cascades, a small river, 2 beaches. The property features 460 rooms, maisonettes, suites and villas, 4 restaurants, 5 bars, two beaches and a unique Minoan Amusement Club for our little friends.
Each of the comfortable, tasteful rooms comes with an en suite bathroom, a king-size bed, a cosy seating area, a hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, a hire safe, satellite/ cable TV, a radio and a minibar/ fridge. Internet access is also available as well as centrally regulated air conditioning and heating. Each room also features either a balcony or terrace with a panoramic view of the sea and the garden area.

I would like to thank the entire Spa team for such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I really enjoyed the wonderful and relaxing massages, as well as the great conversations filled with humour, smiles, and positive energy. 🥰

It was a great experience from start to finish. The receptionist was welcoming and helpful, the drivers were professional and friendly, and the hotel staff were generally attentive and accommodating. Everyone made us feel well looked after, and the excellent service really made our stay enjoyable. Thank you to the entire team for making it such a pleasant experience!

After my relaxing massage and my daughter’s strawberry massage, we both left feeling truly relaxed and refreshed. A soothing atmosphere, professional service, and a wonderful moment of pure relaxation. We recommend Lefteris!
A 2 star hotel
Our worst experience. It s bad when people don t say the truth. Supossed to be a 5 star hotel. But , with all the goodness and kindness, it s a 2 stars hotel. The food is poor, all imported( bananas from ecuador) and tasteless, worst than London where we are living. For example, intead of bacon at english breakfast, they have “canned” cooked bacon!!! 10 minutes ago, 23:05, because he have no water in the room, we went to reception and they said we are not alowed with water in the room, and they directed us to have a cup of water from there! The room, was half dirty, with blonde hair inside bathroom and toilets. At least my wife found the hair in our first day! The sites, at the hotel they are really nice. I really enjoy the tropical views, etc The pool are nice. The beach, it s man made with very fine peobles, your foot goes till your ankle down, but ok. The staff, is decent, i left tips all the time between 5 or 10 euros. Some of the staff are half drunk( security guy and an waiter) If you are looking for a 5 stars hotel, keep looking
Don’t book! 2/3 stars at best
The hotel is nowhere near 5 stars I would say 2 stars to 3 stars would be fair and reasonable.
The pros:
- location right on Agia Pelagia bay which is a huge positive as we have to eat out every night as the food is very poor and freezing cold
- hotel location / grounds and views
- spacious clean bedrooms (albeit rather dated)
- good selection of pools
The Cons
- poor food selection and cold
- tired dining areas and outdoor seating
- advertised as a 5 star which is not managing expectations we would never have booked here had we known
- the entertainment (where do I start!) we have done a lot of AI hotels and I have never seen anything so poor as in none existent. Can’t find anywhere with any atmosphere at all, you Simply could not stay in this hotel every night! - - - No entertainment team or anything for kids at all during the day or on a night
- beds and parasols so dated must be from the 70’s
- splash park for kids isn’t turned on and baby pool closed it’s also painted with white gloss on the floor which is a death trap for kids
- derelict ponds and water features all over the grounds obviously no money to maintain them but have vegetation growing out of them. The resort needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it back up to standard.
- poor drinks and server in paper cups
Don’t book spend your money elsewhere we have treat it like a bed and breakfast and ate out as much as we can to not ruin our holiday
