‘Blue Bay Resort Hotel' is located on the northern side of Crete, above Mononaftis Bay, 22km from the capital city of Heraklion, in the quiet village of Agia Pelagia. Thanks to its privileged slope position, it offers breathtaking views of the Cretan Sea. For a vacation in an environment full of natural beauty, ‘Blue Bay Resort Hotel' has a wide selection of room types, offers excellent service as well as a range of leisure activities. ‘Blue Bay Resort Hotel' is an ideal choice for relaxing and enjoyable holidays. It is also a central point for excursions throughout the island of Crete. Kind remark: The resort's slope location with steps and stairs is not suitable for guests with mobility issues and limited suitable for baby carriages.
Relax at the full-service spa, where you can enjoy massages, body treatments and facials. You can take advantage of recreational amenities such as a water slide, an outdoor tennis court and a sauna. This hotel also features complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and wedding services. Getting to the surf and sand is a breeze with the complimentary beach shuttle.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
First, the good points: the hotel is lovely and clean, and the staff are all very nice, from reception and the bar to the restaurant and cleaning teams. The food is amazing; we have enjoyed it on every visit, and as a group of four, we all agreed it is the best food we have eaten at an all-inclusive resort—the mushroom risotto was excellent. There is not much around the hotel, but it is a 20-minute walk to a small village with shops and fabulous restaurants right on the water, or a €10 taxi ride. Also, a walk down the hill leads to a small shop and two restaurants, one of which looked very popular but needs to be booked. We were worried that the all-inclusive drinks would be limited to beer, wine, raki, or ouzo cocktails; the cocktails were not great, but you could buy others, and the beer and wine are nice. I think adding other local spirits would be fantastic. The bad part is the annex; we hated it. We asked to move and were told to check back that evening, but there was no guarantee they would have a room, though they might the next night. We decided to stay put so we could unpack and try to enjoy our holiday, as you do not actually stay in your room that long, but in hindsight, I should have waited to see, as I felt it took away from my enjoyment. I spoke to a few other guests who also felt the same. The rooms are outdated and dark, but the annex does have a great small pool which is very quiet. We would come back, but I would definitely upgrade to the main hotel.
We had the best stay at blue bay resort, everything was fab from the cleanliness of the room, gorgeous view and hot tub on the balcony, food was great and overall just a lovely vibe. Staff were amazing, special mention to George behind the bar & manager Zacharias who always went out of their way to help. Check in was super smooth, with a member of staff taking our luggage up to the room for us and explaining any extra info about the hotel that we may need. Noise level was okay, entertainment was on until 11pm and anything after that was quiet in the room we were in. I would say location wise there isn’t much to do in the area unless you walk 30 mins out to Agia palegia, or take a taxi back to Heraklion but this was easy enough to do, and for an all inclusive resort we didn’t expect anything more. Overall we had a lovely stay and were gutted to be leaving.
Just got back from the Blu-ray hotel myself and my partner both had two wonderful weeks in this full star hotel on arriving. The welcome was absolutely wonderful by the reception staff and had a full on history lesson by George himself and supported by Alexia. Her room was clean and had been recently redone plenty of wardrobe space and we requested a Seaview which we had the food which sometimes can be questionable as it was all inclusive this absolutely first rate my partner could eat several plates and was very impressed with the options available breakfast lunch and evening meal. The staff were always very quick on cleaning and clearing tables and clean night and replaced with clean ones every time a new plate was required thank you for Zachary in the restaurant who kept thing running smoothly smile and a welcome every time we visited the restaurant, the pool facilities were very good and there was a choice of pools. No queue for sun-beds as they were plenty beach in easy access of which we obviously alternated between pool and beach one in the village was my favourite. The room was cleaned every day and fresh towels were left in the shower room. My partner used the gym on a daily basis and was well equipped and very clean . We went back to this resort for the third time in a row this year. We love the resort, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the hotel itself has a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is spotless and the daily housekeeping service is great too. We enjoyed a varied and delicious menu with lots of choice and catering for all tastes. There is a regular shuttle bus down to the nearest beach and it's a pleasant walk to the next village, Agia Pelagia. There are plenty of sea view bars and restaurants and we found the owners of the ones we went to very attentive, taking good care of us. We plan to return next year because we've had such a good time over the past 3 years. The weather is good and we know we're guaranteed to have a wonderful, relaxing holiday.
Lovely sea views, staff very friendly, maids who cleaned the rooms were excellent. Just too much stodgy repetitive food, Worst ever all inclusive drinks. Too much noisy music around the pool area. Won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend.
