Roda Beach Resort and Spa

Visited Rodos Princess with extended family, 10 of us aged from 5 - 56, last week in August for 2 weeks. Private transfers from the airport which was a perfect start, took around an hour. On arrival the check in was very straight forward, sandwiches & bottled water was available. Arrived around 23.30. Concierge took our suitcases to our rooms and checked everything was ok. Superior family room (No 2020) great location overlooking the sea. Clean, good size with water and selection of drinks in the fridge. Shower gel, shampoo & liquid soap in the bathroom. Hairdryer, tv in room plus the bedroom with the sliding doors. Odd times we had ants in the room but housekeeping soon sorted them. Main restaurant great selection of food at breakfast & dinner, didn't eat here at lunchtime, used the pool restaurant, near the ice-cream / waffle parlour. The older lady (no name) was amazing, smile on her face every day, serving the ice-creams. Burger restaurant / Greek restaurant/ Asian restaurant - all worth booking as soon as you arrive - made a change being waited on rather than the buffet - lovely food! Matej was very attentive at the restaurants and beach bar. Bar opposite the restaurant was lovey for pre-dinner drinks. Main pool busy, majority of activities took place here during the day. We stayed by the relaxing pool which was nearer the kiddies slides. Better location for the children, quieter and great to have Dino as the amazing lifeguard who was full of fun everyday! Pool bar - good selection of drinks, not over strong but adequate for day drinking round the pool. Entertainment team did a great job, they work so hard throughout the day keeping the guests entertained- great evening shows! Beach bar - lovely gyros! Beach gritty, plenty of sunbeds, nice sea, good for snorkelling. Beach shoes are a must. Went on the cyclone twice during our holiday - guys running the business were very friendly & clearly enjoyed their job! Opposite hotel, down the road were a selection of shops, bars & supermarket.

Hotel itself is in a beautiful location with stunning views ,staff were all friendly apart from the odd one or two , hotel grounds itself were clean and spotless, unfortunately hygine in certain places were not great! not the 5 star we were expecting, the beach was not great all sunbeds stacked right on top of each other like sardines, our welcome by reception on our arrival wasn't much of a welcome just straight to asking us to pay the tourism tax , the beds we found very hard , rooms were not modern and not very much storage for a family of 3 in the room, found the aircon did not work went to reception to report and the guy just came in put his hand over it and said it was fine! Not great, phone in room didnt work so this resulted in me having to go back and forth to reception all night whilst my daughter was ill as i needed fresh sheets and towles etc as she was sick on the 3rd night and then unfortunately could not even face going to the restaurant, tea and coffee in the room was always a hit or miss one day they would replenish with just one tea bag for 3 people? Other days there would be no sugar or milk so would have to go to reception and ask , the food on our first couple of nights was great but then I dont know what happened it just went down hill and struggled to find something to eat, few health and safety concerns around the pool area that need looking in to , had a massage in the spa one day and to be honest the massage was great just the facilities were very basic for what you pay , wasps are a major problem at this hotel, appreciate not the hotels fault but its not relaxing trying to chill on your sunbeds with a wasp buzzing round your head all day , even getting a drink u had to be careful as they were even in the tubes of the refills, so you would pour yourself a drink and find a wasp floating round in it., unfortunately I never got to experience the pool but when my family did there costumes were all stained in yellow? Crazy system of beach towels i have never experienced in a 5 star hotel before which is 10euro per person per towel , then you get your 10 euros back at the end of your stay not something I would ever expect from a 5 star to be honest, overall I would say the hotel is between a 3/4 stars , definitely not 5 star.

This hotel has everything you need for a fabulous holiday, the room was modern looking and clean with daily housekeeping and bottles of water. The waterpark is small but great fun and there are many small pools dotted around and the main pool is lovely albeit cold, it's surrounded by a bar and crepery station and gyros that were amazing. The beachfront bar has amazing views and the sea is shallow for quite a distance, bring a snorkel you won't be disappointed. The food has been lovely and the staff are friendly and helpful Will be coming back again
