Cynthiana Beach Hotel

Our 2nd visit (3rd booked for next May already!). I was so concerned as a month ago I was diagnosed as gluten intolerant, along with butter, milk, mushrooms and a few other minor things. I needn't have been worried though as, on our 1st visit to the restaurant this time, everything is clearly labelled. There wasn't a day that I couldn't get a hot meal. The selection was amazing. We even spent 2 days touring in a hire car and the kitchen provided a gluten free picnic. Moving on to the rooms. Our last visit we had no tea/coffee facilities. This time we had this plus a fridge. On top of this the room was cleaned daily with sheets and towels changed by your fantastic cleaning crew. On to the pool and beach area. Wonderful that you have two choices, and one thing I have never seen at any other resorts, you don't need to rush down to save a lounger before 10am. Sadly, some folk still feel they need to throw towels on a bed at 6am then rock up at 12pm. Shame on the lounge hoggers!. The only minor thing, a few of the parasols, the connector that raises or lowers them has the adjusting knob missing. An easy fix as just a small bracket. Finally, the evening bar. Aphrodite and Maria were brilliant (along with the young lad and girl..there names escape me). Aphrodite summed the whole place up. "We feel like family here" You really made us feel like that. See you next year!!

My husband and I stayed at the Cynthiana Beach Hotel for 10 nights on an all-inclusive package at the end of June/July. We upgraded to a deluxe sea view room and mentioned that we were celebrating a special occasion.

Check-in was quick and easy. We arrived around 11pm and were told the bar was open until 1am, so we dropped our suitcases in the room and headed for a drink. Unfortunately, we were then told that the all-inclusive package finishes at 11pm. The staff kindly let us have two drinks, but after that we would have had to pay which was a disappointing welcome. To be honest, the cocktails were so disappointing that we decided to call it a night and hoped things would improve the following day.

The room itself was clean, tidy and had everything we needed, including a fridge. However, we were a little disappointed with the "deluxe sea view". Our room (315) overlooked the front of the hotel and the car park mainly, with only a view of the sea in the distance. Technically I suppose it was a sea view, but the rooms on the opposite side of the corridor looked to have much better views over the beach and the rear of the hotel. The air conditioning also struggled to keep the room cool, so bear that in mind if you're visiting during the hotter months.

Housekeeping came every day, which was appreciated, but the cleaners would often just walk straight into the room without waiting after knocking. There were a few close calls where we were less than fully dressed! Giving guests a chance to answer the door would make a big difference.

Breakfast was a fairly standard buffet—nothing particularly special, but certainly acceptable. The best part was eating outside with the beautiful sea views.

The hotel's biggest selling point is definitely its location. The private beach area is lovely and was one of the reasons we chose to stay here, having visited the beach area a few years ago. We could usually find sunbeds around 11am, but after midday it became very difficult, and the pool area was always busy & noisy.

The biggest disappointment for us was the all-inclusive drinks package. I was looking forward to enjoying a Brandy Sour, but it wasn't very good at all, and overall the cocktails were poor. Drinks such as Piña Coladas, Sex on the Beach and frozen daiquiris all incur an extra charge, even on the all-inclusive package. I also enjoy a glass of fizz on holiday, but that was €8 per glass & not included either. Compared with other all-inclusive hotels we've stayed at in Paphos, the drinks offering was extremely disappointing.

Dinner was another let-down. The buffet lacked variety, and the food was often only lukewarm. We only ate in the hotel a couple of times before deciding to eat out for most evenings.

One highlight was the spa. I had a wonderful massage from a lovely therapist, although at €100 it was quite expensive.

The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and hardworking, which is definitely a positive. However, despite the fantastic location, we wouldn't return, especially considering the price we paid. Sadly, the all-inclusive package simply doesn't offer the value or quality we've experienced at other hotels in Paphos.

This is a hidden treasure, away from Paphos town, but near enough to get the bus into shops etc. I don’t know why it is a three star hotel, it offers five star service. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is spotlessly clean. Ideal for solo travelers.
