Good atmosphere and service, we were looked after
We, as a family of seven, have been coming to Centara Karon Resort for a very long time. Parents, three teenagers & us the grandparents. We have always absolutely loved this place & we have once again just completed a 21 night stay in three rooms. This is the first time we have been back since the resort completed their major renovation & we were very keen to see the changes. The biggest change has been the Lagoon pool. On prior visits we have loved this pool & having rooms around it. Not so much now as they have made the new Lagoon pool very much shallower & instead of the pool coming all the way back to the rooms they have virtually taken half the pool away to replace it with a water park that is already in need of major repair. This water park has changed the whole ambience of our stay this time. Before we were able to walk out of our rooms & into the pool. Not only is this ground level water park very noisy in itself but the screaming children using it are super noisy as well. In saying that, the new Tropicale pool & the new Terrace pool are just wonderful. We also love the changes to the rooms. The staff are such beautiful people - from our room stewards, to the people in the breakfast room to those in the Escape bar we couldn’t fault anyone. Huge smiles & daily greetings everywhere. They all go out of their way to make us feel very welcome. Another major change is that they are no longer selling the frozen margaritas or the mocktail frozen margaritas for the younger visitors. These were always such a hit with our family. Thankfully the breakfast is still the best you’ll find anywhere. The choices are incredible. They continue to go above & beyond. As always this resort is in the best location with a 7 Eleven, fruit stall, a Thai kitchen & massage parlours just outside as well as wonderful restaurants, shops & money exchanges all around & is a very easy flat walk to the beach.
Stayed in 1420 from 3 to 5 July.
This hotel is new and rooms are new (or renovated) , simple and comfortable. Location is so-so only because it’s located at the end of a small lane (not easily view access), no signage on the main road too.
Car park is free and maybe that’s why it’s always fully occupied, the security doesn’t check so maybe some outsiders park here too (no car park available for those diners or shoppers outside). We had a very bad experience on the night of 4th (around 9:15pm) whereby the security was so rude to shout at us saying car park is full (there were 3 lots blocked by cone, maybe for their VIP or staff). The concierge who came to assist was rude too (wearing specs). We come Thailand every year, for 2-3 times and we were here in Phuket recently 2 months ago too. We stayed in Serenity, M Social, Centara Grand, Beyond Kata and this is the only time we were treated so rudely.
The pools are good (there are 3) and clean. The staff at the bar were good and attentive.
Food aplenty outside along the main road and are cheaper than those in Patong and Kata. Nice and quiet location.
The breakfast is good and staffs are attentive. But only flaw is they are slow in clearing the used plates.
The hotel is really well laid out so it never seems over busy. The only time you get that feeling is occasionally at breakfast, and that's usually due to rude guests! Breakfast options are plentiful and always fresh. The ladies in the Escape Bar and Restaurant were lovely, as was the food. The Bistro Restaurant was quiet when we were there, and had a different menu. We nicknamed the Pink Social bar 'the Pink Antisocial' as we couldn't get a coffee one evening or a milkshake in the afternoon! All in all its a lovely, modern, clean hotel with helpful, happy staff and everything you need.
This was my first stay at this hotel, and it exceeded my expectations.
I would like to thank every member of the team for their outstanding service. The reception staff were warm, welcoming, and professional, both during check-in and check-out, always greeting guests with genuine smiles. The bell staff were friendly and eager to help with my luggage. Housekeeping responded promptly whenever I requested additional amenities. The breakfast team were exceptional—attentive, caring, and always made sure every guest felt well looked after.
Thank you all for making my stay such a memorable one. I truly appreciated the genuine hospitality and excellent service throughout my visit. I will definitely stay here again the next time I have the opportunity. 💕 Highly recommended!
Best regards, Krongkat K.
