- COMO Uma Ubud

On the fringe of Ubud overlooking Tjampuhan Valley. About one-hour drive from the Denpasar International Airport.COMO Uma Ubud is located in the center of Bali. The hotel occupying a 3 hectare site is hidden on the fringe of Ubud overlooking the Tjampuhan Valley amid paddy fields carved out of hillsides backed by coconut palms and banyan trees. The river Oos runs below - one side stands a mountain. The town where there are numerous shops-galleries and local restaurants is a five-minute drive/20-minute walk.
The heart of the hotel - the lobby -25m pool and bar - is open clean and simply designed. This contrasts with the paths running between tall lushly-planted walls that lead to rooms.
All villas have walled tropical gardens. The bathrooms and principal living space is separated by an outdoor area. Carved panels open up rooms to incorporate views and the scent of forest while the volumes of light flows through interiors from the bedroom through to garden terraces - private courtyards and infinity-edge plunge pools.
The Terrace Rooms located throughout the resort are each 45sqm with garden terraces. The Garden Rooms positioned along the northern perimeter all 53sqm with a private courtyard. The Uma Pool Suites are 94sqm and have infinity-edge pools with views across the valley down to the snaking river. The Uma Suite is similar but without a pool. The COMO Suite located on the southern edge of the resort has the best pool as well as a private treatment area.
In-room facilities are decadent. The open-air bathrooms all include separate baths and shower. Facilities include flatscreen TVs with satellite channels - DVD players a personal safe - Yoga mats and minibars.
The restaurant is called Kemiri. The open air space seating 70 in addition to an intimate private dining room - stylish area beside a waterfall-fed pond - with light airy alang-alang ceilings. Kemiri serves breakfast - lunch and dinner. All Day Dining is also available
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
This hotel is by far the best hotel I’ve ever been to. First off, when we arrived, we were welcomed by the smiley Rista with a delicious drink, followed by a hotel tour and a room tour. The hotel is a tranquil, small, quiet, and peaceful venue with about 40 rooms spanned over a large area surrounded by jungle, and about 15mins away from the centre of Ubud. The room which we were in was a single floor house split into a connecting two rooms with roof fans in both. The bathroom had a large bath, bidet, sink and table, and an open shower to the outside, which you can close with a blind. The rooms were all very clean. The bar staff are also very accommodating, especially when waiter Lila gave us dinner at 9:30, when the bar was about to close. We were also told about the hotel activities, including walks, spa treatments and painting and yoga classes. There were 3 restaurants open during our stay, one an Italian style and open to the public, two with lots of different options and only open to the hotel residents. I would like to point out how when you go on a long trip, like the Mt Batur sunrise where you get up at 2am with a wake up call from the hotel if requested, they prepare a home made breakfast for you to take with you, filled with fruit and pastries as well as elongating the breakfast time so you can have hot food when you get back often as late as 10:30. The staff are extremely helpful, especially with allergies, as even though peanuts are a large part of the Balinese cuisine, they were able to accommodate, at one point even bringing the head chef out to check. The pool staff also bring drinks and menus round regularly, making sure to keep you hydrated and fed in the humidity. Another thing was the personalisation of the hotel, where nearly every member of staff knew your name, and whenever they saw you they asked how your day was going. On one particular event, we had been out for a longer time than expected and when we came back the receptionists asked what else we did and how our day was and whether we needed anything. When we needed a taxi car, the reception staff provided them, they are a team of local drivers who are picked by the hotel, all of which are very polite and helpful, often taking you to more than asked. The last thing is that when we left, we were given a goodbye drink and the hotel manager, Dwi checked in on us and asked how our stay had been. Also, all the staff gathered in a line to wave us off into a car as we left. Thank you so much to everyone in COMO Uma, you made our holiday so special The Gutteridges
I had never been in a Como Hotel and I highly recommend a stay here . The hotel is a wonderful luxury boutique , in a lush garden setting immersed in pure tranquillity. Rooms are up to standard and very cured. We were in the pool suite being two adults and a teen, it was perfect! I have a thing for breakfasts and here its complete with a great fresh fruit selection, healthy yogurts and a whole menu where you can order your favourites covering all tastes and its included! The pool is beautiful. But a special note goes to the amazing staff 🥰 warm smiles, everyone very welcoming, kind and profosseional but I have to say the reception staff was my favorite! So much patience, great suggestions and super ready to help with whatever request! Food was great by the pool and when special venues occur. Being an Italian my only mmhhh note goes to Como Cucina: food was good but definately not an Italian standard.. pasta puttanesca doesn’t have fish in it, great taste but surely not a puttanesca 😅 so overall our experience was definately worth 5 star. The hotel is 30 Minutes walking distance from the center of ubud, in an area with lots of nice restaurants. Being outside the center for me was a great plus
Our stay at COMO was truly wonderful and reminded us why great hospitality is about so much more than beautiful facilities.
The villa itself is fantastic, offering privacy, comfort, and a stunning setting. The property is beautiful, and the overall service throughout our stay was excellent. However, what made this experience truly special was the people.
At one point during our stay, we experienced a small communication issue regarding our villa. After expressing our concern, the Office Manager, Dwi, became personally involved. The way the situation was handled was a perfect example of exceptional service recovery. We felt listened to, understood, and genuinely cared for.
During our stay, Dwi and the entire team went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and looked after. Their kindness, warmth, and attention to detail made a real difference and this is the real luxury
Because luxury hotels can offer beautiful rooms and spectacular surroundings, but what guests remember most is how they are made to feel. The team at COMO made us feel valued, cared for, and genuinely welcome.
Our sincere thanks to everyone involved. We leave with wonderful memories and look forward to returning in the future.
Highly recommended.
We have had the most fantastic time at COMO ubud… the service was exceptional, food so fresh and we especially enjoyed the Balinese cooking class we had with Dewa! Truly memorable!
We made a quick stop at COMO Uma Ubud and were very impressed by the property. The staff were warm and welcoming, with a special shout-out to Agga for making our visit even more enjoyable. The rooms are beautifully appointed, while the COMO Shambhala spa and yoga studio have such a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The pool is simply stunning, and the newly opened gym is another great addition. Considering the beautiful surroundings, excellent facilities, and genuine hospitality, the experience is definitely worth the money. Thank you to the entire team
