Set in a secluded hillside position above the Ayung River and surrounded by lush verdant vegetation, the beautiful Alila Ubud boutique hotel is situated in the traditional hill village of Payangan in central Bali. Contemporary architecture meets traditional Balinese style, as guests may admire Indonesian art in the hotel's art gallery or in the sculpture garden. An emerald infinity pool seems to be floating above the valley and guests may sample authentic Balinese cuisine in the hotel's restaurant. A truly unique travel experience.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Our stay at Alila Ubud was wonderful, definitely worth the visit! Everyone is so friendly and professional, especially Suarni from the reception and Nyoman, who picked us up from the airport (with a very nice and comfortable car, complimentary refreshing towel, water and cookies). The hotel is located in the jungle with nice views from every corner, especially the swimming pool. The food was delicious with a lot of variation. The room was very big and luxurious. There are so many activities you can do and there is a complimentary shuttle service to the city center. We really felt at home! Must stay ❤️
Wonderful place to go to relax, enjoy nature, de-stress and recharge. Hotel staff are wonderful and provide friendly, thoughtful service. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Alila Ubud.
We were only there for a couple of days, but it was the most tranquil, relaxing and beautiful place to spend time on our Honeymoon

Beautiful resort on the outskirts of Ubud with free shuttle into the centre. This is exactly how it looks on the photos. It is stunning!! Service is amazing. Gorgeous pool. Highly recommend this for a honeymoon. The staff are incredible and go above and beyond for you. They are attentive but not overbearing which is something we’ve found in other hotels on the island. It was nice to be left in peace to enjoy the place but knowing they are right there whenever you need them.
We met the onsite monkeys who are adorable! They will jump onto your balcony so keep the doors shut! We saw one with toothpaste. A monkey came and drank my husbands beer, thankfully the staff replaced it. We found it hilarious. They’re not at all vicious by the way so don’t be scared.
It’s 30 mins drive from Ubud but they offer a free shuttle which we utilised and only £3 in a taxi back late at night.
On Saturday morning we had a free tour of the rice paddy which was so fascinating. Every day there was something for guests to partake in such as yoga, cooking classes and tours.
Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. The fruit juices and smoothies were so good.
We attended the bbq night which was fantastic and the live band were amazing.
And we had a couple’s massage in the rainforest which was fabulous!!
There is so much land with walkways around the hotel to enjoy a stroll after dinner and explore.
This is by far the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Thank you for a wonderful stay. I think if heaven exists it’s here.
