Wonderful Stay with a Few Small Areas for Improvement
Overall, we had the best experience during our stay at Desa Potato Head. The staff were consistently friendly, warm, and welcoming, which really made our stay enjoyable. There were just a couple of small things that could be improved: 2. The welcome towel had a slightly sour smell, so it may be worth checking the freshness of the towels before they are given to guests. 4. We ordered room service and also requested for the ice in our room to be refilled. The room service arrived, but the ice refill was forgotten. The staff kindly mentioned that they would come back with it, but unfortunately, no one returned. These were minor issues and did not take away from our overall wonderful experience, but we thought it would be helpful to share them as areas for improvement. We truly appreciate the hospitality and friendliness of the entire team.
Beachfront and good vibes!
As an Irishman, I knew that a resort called Potato Head was the right spot for me! And if sustainability, an artistic environment, and an epic beachfront are important to you, this is the right spot for you!
My partner and I recently stayed at Desa Potato Head for 2 nights and it was a wonderful experience. Whilst our room had some electrical quirks (lights and TV would occasionally turn on in the middle of the night if we had something plugged in to a specific powerpoint), and interesting shower behaviour (water would briefly run from shower head at roughly the same time in the early hours of the morning), these quirks did not sour our experience.
The resort/village has an energy that is both relaxing and inspiring, with good vibes, fantastic artwork, and incredible architecture in abundance!
After a tasty breakfast at Ijen, you could easily spend the day relaxing around the pool on one of the daybeds that are exclusive to Desa Potato Head hotel guests. It’s also the perfect spot to enjoy some breathtaking sunsets!
We really enjoyed our dinners at Tanaman (shout out to Unita for the beautifully immersive spiritual culinary experience) and Kaum, and we only heard great things about the other restaurants. We watched our last Bali sunset of this trip from Sunset Park, the hotel’s rooftop bar, whilst enjoying a couple of delicious cocktails that were made by the wonderful team (shoutout to Ari for being a legend!).
Whilst all the staff were friendly, attentive, and pretty damn awesome, we would like to give a special shout out to the beautiful soul, Ira, at Ijen! Ira was so warm and friendly from the moment we met her, and her ability to connect with guests was clear to see. Thank you, Ira, for helping us have an amazing few days at Desa Potato Head!
We loved our time at Desa Potato Head and will definitely be back soon :)
All Rounder Resort
I understand why people return. The room, the scenes, the food, experiences and storytelling were all fantastic.
Tip would be to asked to be put on waitlist for the front row sunbeds specifically, as having experienced most seating during my stay, the view and experience is unparalleled.
Try the collapse cocktail at Dome. Amazing drink, might even return just for that.
Minor inconvenience would be the toilet and shower. Not the best experience considering the price, shower leaks out to the room if not careful.
Had 3 fabulous nights there. Will return whenever possible. Thank you for the good times, as it indeed does good (good times do good is their catchphrase).

Amazing hotel right on the beach. Staff couldn’t do enough to help you. One of the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
Perfect day time session by the pool overlooking the beach!
Booked a day bed by the pool and it was fantastic! Min spend between two was a bit steep but the staff team were amazing, so friendly, so happy and uplifting. They brought over a birthday cake, with a candle, they sang and gifted me with a lucky friendship bracelet from Potato Head. The music was great, the vibe was excellent.
Highly recommend for a celebration with friends.
