Cuellar, Edy, Pau, Leo, Diego are the best! Very friendly entertainment staff by the pool. They have great.

Erick, Flora, Maria, and the rest of the bloved lounge staff that I’m missing were incredible throughout the whole stay.

Carmen the waitress who worked the Mexican and and Italian restaurants was our favorite.

The only disappointment during the stay was the food and our room was a bit in disrepair. Our room had a leaky ceiling. The doors weren’t weatherized all that well so there were quite a bit of mosquitos in the room everyday. We killed a few that were on the bed eating us up during the night.

As far as the food options: I’m a little surprised they don’t offer more culturally relevant food options. Considering they are located in Mexico there are only a handful of Mexican dishes. Where’s the tamales, enchiladas, tortas, aguachiles? Variety is not a bad thing but not at the expense of authentic cuisine.

The room service options are pretty bad. They only offer pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches, yogurt parfaits, and things along those lines. Again they are located in Mexico. There are zero Mexican food options for room service. That blew my mind.

We paid for food upgrades to get the cowboy steak. Both steaks were cooked wrong. We both wanted medium steaks. The first ones came out raw and purple in the middle; it was like beef jelly. Then the second time they came out there were parts that were extremely well done and rubbery and other parts that were again purple and raw. Neither time came out medium. We gave up after that. I wouldn’t recommend any of the upgrades for the food options; it’s just not worth it.

The things we enjoyed most in terms of food were the ceviches in the bloved lounge, carnitas tacos, green apple ceviche, sopes, cochinita pibil, and tostadas. The Mexican food they do offer, they do very well. All the other stuff needs improvement.

The snack bar only has options like the room service. Where are the tacos and elote? Just doesn’t make any sense to me.

One minor inconvenience is the beach towel situation. You get 2 towels in your room. There is no where to replace them. They tell you to leave it on the floor in your room and the room cleaners will replace them with new ones. The problem with that is they don’t come around until 11-2pm. By that time you would already be by the beach and pool. That is an annoying flaw to their system. That’s an easy fix. Stock each room with 4 beach towels and problem is solved.

Overall: The grounds are inviting and relaxing. Love the feeling of being amongst nature and seeing the animals that are roaming the grounds. The staff and hospitality are top notch. The rooms need some love and renovation for sure. The food definitely needs an overhaul and update. More authentic Mexican dishes please. Mexico has some of the most delicious food in the world, put that on display and offer it at your resort. If these improvements are made I would highly recommend staying at this resort.

I had an amazing time here at Catalonia Adults only in Tulum. All the staff were so nice and attentive. I definitely see myself going back for a couples retreat. Thank you Javier, Alphonso and Nathalie for the best hospitality ever. Restaurants were decent but I might be the wrong person to ask since I’m Caribbean and have a different set of taste buds lol. The staff were cleaning our rooms like twice a day. The cleanliness of the resort is great. They stayed on top of the sargassum to a point I never saw any our whole trip. Love love it here.
