UNICO 20 87 Riviera Maya

Our stay at UNICO 20°87° was absolutely unforgettable, and a huge part of that was thanks to our incredible butlers, Bernice, Erick, and Roger.

A few weeks before our July 2026 trip, I reached out to let them know that I was planning to propose to my now-fiancée during our stay. From that moment on, they went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfectly planned and flawlessly executed. They coordinated everything behind the scenes so I could focus on enjoying the moment, and they truly helped make one of the most important days of our lives absolutely perfect.

What impressed us even more was that their exceptional service didn’t stop after the proposal. They continued the celebration the following day with thoughtful surprises and made sure we experienced everything the resort had to offer. Their attention to detail, genuine excitement for us, and commitment to creating special memories exceeded every expectation.

Throughout our stay, Bernice, Erick, and Roger were consistently professional, personable, attentive, and proactive. They anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and always greeted us with warmth and enthusiasm. They made us feel like VIPs from the moment we arrived until the day we left.

Because of them, our vacation became a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we’ll never forget. If you’re fortunate enough to have Bernice, Erick, and Roger taking care of you, you’re in the best hands possible.

My husband and I stayed at Unico 2087 for our honeymoon from June 4-11 and we are SO happy we picked this resort. It can be overwhelming to choose the “best” resort for your honeymoon, but we loved the boutique vibes of Unico, and that we felt like we got to know the staff while we were there.

The resort is definitely more chill and we were there in seaweed season, so the hotel was only at about 60% occupancy. We never had issues getting drinks, dinner reservations or pool chairs. We spent most of our time at the party pool, but also spent time at the main Unico pool. The pool chairs were very comfy and all of the servers were so great in making sure our drinks were full! We wanted to give special shout outs to Antonio at the pool bar, Uriel, Ejilio and Lucia. They were excellent the entire week!

We felt there were plenty of activities to keep us entertained but we still fully enjoyed just relaxing at the pool each day. We only did one excursion (not through the hotel) and we felt that was perfect to break up the week. Our favorite activities at the resort were bingo, evening art classes, mini golf, pool exercise classes and floating poker. We also did a couples massage at the spa which was wonderful. Before our massage, we did the hydrotherapy, which was so different than anything we’d ever experienced, but we really enjoyed it. We also loved the saxophone player during the pool party! Sebastian and Alejandro were the entertainment hosts we interacted with the most and we felt like they were our friends at the end of the week! They are so friendly, personable and funny. We loved them!

We also really liked the local host texting. We met Tony when we checked in and we communicated daily via WhatsApp. He provided the activity schedule for the next few days, recommendations on what to try at each restaurant, and was able to change reservations for us if needed. He also checked in with us in person throughout the week and it was nice to have a specific person to go to while we were there for anything we needed.

Lastly…and most importantly, the food was INCREDIBLE! I feel that resorts get a bad reputation for food but truly, the food at Unico was excellent. The options at the breakfast buffet were delicious and we really loved the coffee shop in the lobby with amazing iced lattes. We ate lunch by the pool most days and the food was SO out of this world for being pool food. For dinner, our favorite restaurant was Mi Carisa, the Italian restaurant. Not only was the food amazing, but our server Flavio was the star of the show. He was funny and you could tell he really enjoyed meeting and joking with the guests. We also saw Mayra, the host, at many of the restaurants throughout our stay. She was always so friendly and remembered us by the end of the trip. It was always a treat seeing her. Here are some must try items at each restaurant:

• Mi Carisa - chicken parmesan, mushroom crusted filet, espresso martini and tiramisu
• Mura House - teriyaki beef, sesame dessert, pad Thai
• Avec - beef Wellington, chocolate mousse, creme brûlée, French onion soup
• Cueva Siete - Mayan coffee, chocolate lava cake, brisket tacos, guacamole, tortilla soup
• 2087 Steakhouse - wasn’t personally our favorite, but the meal we had was good!
• Room service - churros, pizza and chicken tenders
• Pool bar - steak nachos, steak tacos, onion rings, chicken tenders, guac and chips, shrimp tacos

We celebrated our anniversary at Unico 20 87. The service, food, and hospitality is amazing. Our butlers, Berenice and Erick, were great!! From start to finish, they took care of everything we needed. Luis at Mi Carisa was an excellent waiter. After the first visit, he remembered what we liked. He greeted us with a smile and worked passionately to take care of us. Francisco was a great waiter at 20 87 grill. He was able to make our favorite dessert available every night. All the restaurants are excellent. The spa is fabulous!! We loved our massages and facials. Our Estancia suite was beautiful, and we loved laying on our deck in the afternoons. The breeze put us to sleep for an afternoon nap. Unico 20 87 is the perfect place for a romantic anniversary.
