Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The location was no problem to us as a family, but if you had young children its another long journey from the airport after a long flight from the UK. The atmosphere was very calming and relaxing and good place to unwind. The rooms were varied in size, we went as a family of 6, 3 rooms that overlooked the pool and the beach, could fault any of it. Always cleaned and fridges restocked. Out of season this was extremely good value for money as this was out of season, at the hight of the season it could be very different again. The hotel was clean inside and out and restaurants were kept very clean. No noise what's so ever, only on rainy days when everyone came inside and hung around the foyer, there could be plenty of other areas to go to to keep people entertained. The service again was very good no complaints. The amenities were very good, but it would be hard to keep younger children entertained if you were staying for more than a week. There was only one downside to the holiday, and this maybe the time of year. The mosquitos were everywhere, we were bitten everywhere, more so in the evenings if hanging around in the foyer. I believe the hotel could of done more to fumigate the areas, they did say they did it in the afternoon, but we only saw this happening the once. All in all, a very good holiday.
Our stay at Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya was disappointing. It rained for much of our visit, which was outside the resort’s control, but the food, drinks, and dining options fell well below our expectations for an all-inclusive resort.
During our stay, only a couple of restaurants were open for dinner. One was so crowded that we couldn’t get in, leaving us with a cafeteria-style option where the food was very poor. The drinks were disappointing as well.
To make matters worse, the phone in our room didn’t work, so we couldn’t call to order room service. The resort needs to improve its food and drink quality, restaurant availability, and basic room amenities.
We are here now. I never write reviews. & I have never complained about a resort. We have travelled all over & have stayed at 3 1/2 to 5 stars. They have always exceeded our expectations. This one does not even meet our minimum expectations.
Con’s: First off, half the resort is closed & yes I get that it’s the off season but they don’t even have enough staff to keep up with the not even 20% capacity. The preferred club here does allow kids which we knew but there is a section of the preferred pool where kids are not allowed by the bar. Well, they are allowed. Screaming, splashing water, jumping from seat to seat. The pools, nasty. 2/3 days of our stay have not been touched. Yes debris will be in the pool but there’s hair floating, a layer of filth, & I literally had a funky smell to me when I got out from being in under 5 mins. This is a non-smoking resort. We smoke & they do have 1 area in the very front to go. One couple got kicked out of the resort for smoking on their balcony but they allow people to walk around with vapes smoking wherever. Smoking is smoking. In the desires club there are puddles of water from the ceilings leaking. There isn’t even 1 night show & we will be here 13 days. They don't have any bar open from 5-7. I don’t drink but I like my mocktails. Room service is not 24/7 which I don’t think it’s stated that it is but when I see room service I assume 24/7 which is what I like. Ice machine doesn’t work on our floor. The elevators don’t work half the time. One got stuck, not sure if someone was on it but they sound like your gonna go straight to the ground. They are wobbly.
Pros: Clean nice average rooms. Nice shower pressure/warmth. Food, not bad. Staff extremely nice. I like the beach area/sand but it’s not typical. They keep it clean. Being in a secure gated community is probably the thing that is keeping me happy enough to not freak out.
Would I come back? Absolutely not.
This Hotel is the Best we have visited in Mexico, and we have been to this Wonderful country 5 times ,but Dreams Aventuras was a memory we will not forget. Our room was a preferred Club room and was everything we expected with a Marina View ,and was Cleaned and brilliantly looked after the 2 weeks were there. The Food and Drinks service was excellent, World cafe, always a friendly welcome ,as we're all the other Eateries ,Portofino , El Patio, Seaside Grill , Oceana ( Preferred) ,the Asian restaurant. Coco cafe was nice for a quick Coffee , our Ice cream too name a few things you can get their
You can walk down too the Marina in about 5- 10 mins our hire a Golf cart to get further afield,
The Staff in all ,were friendly, helpful ,and Knowledgeable from our first arrival to our departure . Highly recommend this hotel , and we will visit again , without doubt
Scheduled this on a last minute visit to Mexico. We were quite pleased on arrival. The food was amazing & the drinks were plentiful! Additionally it’s an easy walk to the Marina Village (10 min) & Puerto Aventuras Fatima Bay has a nice beach which is much clearer than the lagoon that sits in front of the hotel (20 min).
