Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa

We had an AMAZING stay at this resort! It was my girlfriend's and I first real trip together and we were a bit nervous as a queer couple traveling out of the country, but were immediately welcomed by all staff and guests. The food was excellent, especially at Rosewater and Coquette (the French restaurant at Breathless). We enjoyed having the option to attend pool parties and shows at Breathless while being able to come back to the quiet Secrets side of the resort when we needed more relaxation time. The service was phenomenal, especially from Julio (one of the poolside servers). We also really enjoyed the entertainment, including the cabaret, drag show, and silent disco. I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to swim in the ocean here; I've been to other resorts in Cancun where either the water was too choppy or there were too many rocks, but it was perfect here! We are already planning our next visit - 10/10 experience!

We have travelled to Mexico every year for almost 15 years straight. This resort had by far some of the best service and staff we have ever experienced. My husband had a horrible knee injury right before our trip so his mobility was impaired. When we checked in, we were immediately upgraded to a room closer to the preferred club lounge that was partial ocean view. We were so happy. We arranged for a cabana on his birthday and Damien and Daniel made sure that he had a comfortable place for the whole trip (you usually only get the cabana for one day - they gave us the same cabana for our whole trip - Thank you so much guys!!!). The food was exactly as I would have expected for a Secrets resort. Everything was delicious. I have been known to get sick in the past from resorts, even the highest of the high end, and I was very happy that I had 0 issues with the food. The staff were always welcoming, friendly, listened to our needs and made us feel at home. We didn't partake of the nightlife given my husband's knee situation, but we were never bored. One thing that was a disappointment was that we would never get our coffee delivered in the am even though we made arrangements every day. One morning it did come but I had to call down twice before it was delivered. That's really my only negative review. Tip: Go to Nook for your morning coffee (never a line up!) and make sure you have some of their ice cream! Eat at Rosewater as much as you can - you won't be sorry. There was a brief timeshare discussion when we checked in, but we are used to that and know how to say no politely. This is not a huge resort - which for us was an incredible bonus given the situation. You can easily walk from one end to the other in under 10 minutes. We didn't bother with the Xhale club, and neither of the breathless pools. Under other conditions, we would have probably been over there a few times to have some laughs. But we stayed on the Secrets side which was perfectly fine. We had Assistant GMs, medical staff and all the other staff check in on us frequently to make sure my husband was ok and didn't need anything. Overall - yes - go here. Great food, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, maybe a little bit pricey for what we normally spend, but just given how well they treated us, honestly I'd say we did actually get our money's worth. Thank you so much to Daniel, Luis, Damien and Nedal at the preferred club pool. We will be talking about your level of service for trips to come! This is in our top 3 resorts we've been to in terms of service and food. And we've been to Impressions, Dreams, Sandals Negril, Excellence Oyster Bay etc. and never stay anywhere below 5 star.
