Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun

Just back from our 4th trip to this resort. The staff makes this resort. Angel who brings the luggage to your room, our Burler Joaquin went above and beyond. Abdiel and Shirley the bartenders, Luis, Carlos Nd Antonio at the beach house.

Cintia and Belkin were always checking in. Again, fantastic staff.

Only change was food was not consistent this trip. Not sure why. They need to broaden their menus.

The staff here are incredible. They truly care and remember you and your drinks etc. Erick, Marcelo, Noel at the boat house and all the staff at land shark were incredible. The server around the pool aswell. And the cleaning crew. The downfalls- only 2 restaurants. The menu isnt the same as what is listed on their website. Its a little disappointing to have a steakhouse and only 2 steaks to chose from without a large unchange in this case Picana steak and sirloin. The other restaurant was Italian. It was okay. Power went out twice when we were there. Service was very slow. This was slow September season so the restaurants were not full. We thought maybe the buffet would be open for dinner every day like most other resorts but it wasnt it was only open Thurs, Friday and Saturday so you had no choice but to eat at 1 of the 2 restaurants and the times you could book them were a little odd like 545pm or 915pm they would update once in a while if you watch the app. So make sure to book right at 9am. I was not able to book the entire week. I had to login to the app every day. Room service was tasty. But you can only order 2 of each item you wanted so if you have a friend over from another room to eat together its a little difficult to order the same items more than 2. I am sure they would make accommodations if you called them. Breakfast was good but hit and miss with the smoked salmon. We had to ask for it most days then end of the week they started putting it out. Bacon was not there only 1 day (you do have to request bacon from the omlette maker person). Landshark and the outdoor restaurant had really good lunch food tacos/wings etc. Highly recommend them. Landshark beer was okay. Landshark doesnt serve modelo they only serve Landshark beer but the waitors will go get modelo from the other bar for you. There is a pool table at the back of the Landshark. The burger party is near the lobby so not really a fun idea since its so far from the pool. The unchage taco boat is mostly for socializing or social media photos. Its the same tacos as you get in the outdoor restaurant you can go to in your swim suit. The pizza party upcharge same thing same pizzas they have in the Italian restaurant (and Saturdays buffet) Drinks are good. Entertainment was okay. No beach. The lights in the bedroom are complicated to use. You have a total off or total on and have to find random switches to turn lights off. Hard to find lights for some lamps they dont have the regular switches on them. The balconies that face the inner courtyard/pool arent very private you can see everyone on their balconies you can also see from the side of the balcony into people's rooms. This is a no smoking resort they do have 2 areas for people to smoke but someone was breaking the rules and somehow our entire room smelled of smoke 1 day. They must have been caught pretty quick as it didnt happen again (they do fine for this) The points system is okay we didnt use up our points its mostly soda or beer and some random chips (not the best flavors) candy isnt ideal either. The Cafe/coffee shop where you uze the points doesnt open until 8am. The smoothies are made with water at the café. I had to bring milk from the buffet once as the lady said their milk is for the coffee. But the next time the other lady made it with milk no problem. Also no dress code for the boathouse breakfast buffet but my husband got denied entry wearing dry clothing but his shirt was a thick tank top (think tshirt without the sleeves) apparently thats not acceptable even though it was 91 Fahrenheit outside. Mostly just birds on site and a couple of coaties. I saw 1 tiny gecko on a wall. There were a few coachroaches. 1 in the buffet table area and some in hallways. Not in our room. Common for mexico though. Lots of sand around the edges of the pool. Which is weird since there isnt a beach so not sure how. They dont give you alcohol in your room. They just give you the glass wear and Shaker if you want to bring your own alcohol from the store.(points dont work for that)

The best things - no towel cards. Get as many towels as you need Easy in slow season to find lounge chairs Bracelets open the room doors. Easy check in/check out Amazing staff, extremely friendly Amazing fish tacos and wings Comfy beds/cleaned room (no extras) The store inside with clothing etc was nice.

Would I come back again? Probably not. The 2 restaurants, not a ton of evening food choices was a big bummer for us. Not a ton to do outside their provided entertainment which is usually a singer or a show and not every night. They do karaoke and have a dj at landshark. You cant leave the resort walking its a $30-$50 one way cab ride anywhere you go. It was nice but probably better for 3 or 4 days vs a week. Or if you do excursions. We got a little bored. If the resort had 2 more restaurants it would make a huge difference but also the steakhouse upcharges being so high are a little off putting. $75 for their smaller ribeye at an all inclusive doesnt feel right. It was quiet. The vibe was very chill. Age group was more 50+ 60+ a few younger people but not many. A ton of people from usa and UK and some from Canada
