Breathless Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa

Everything was outstanding! The staff were amazing, services incredible, great activities and entertainment-the mariachi band was awesome! After a few days of parties in the pool, I wanted to see some more local areas and shop for handicrafts, such as a colorful, embroidered dress for my daughter, and some authentic local silver and Mayan turquoise jewelry for my wife. I spoke with Mauricio, and he suggested a visit to the nearby town of Puerto Morelos, only a 15 minute taxi ride from the resort. Mauricio gave me some great tips, I spoke with him nearly everyday. Just one great example of how folks here go above and beyond to help make the experience even better!

My girls and I stayed at the Breathless Cancun resort back in March for my bach. This was our first time visiting a boutique hotel style resort and we had high expectations given all of the reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was far from that. Firstly, the staff did everything they could to avoid conversation with us - this was specifically obvious with the front desk staff and the swim up bar. The swim up bar staff was particularly rude to us - I can't remember his name, but one of the guys avoided us and when he had no choice but to speak to us, he made sure to serve everyone else before us. We definitely believe skin colour had an impact here and its very unfortunate as we wanted to avoid the pool since the service was so poor. Secondly, the food was not that that great. No restaurant particularly stood out - all the food was bland. The only place we genuinely enjoyed was the cafe - the coffees were great and their sandwiches/desserts were good. Third, we had booked three rooms and requested to be next to one another months in advance. When we arrived they mentioned that these requests can't be catered too and put all of us on different floors. We understood that requests aren't always guaranteed but again, we could tell the front desk staff just wanted to send us away and didn't make us feel any better about the situation. Lastly, the rooms we booked had showers where a cover only came down on one side - all other sides were open which made it difficult to use when sharing a room with a friend.

What we did enjoy about this resort was the beach - lots of space to sit and lovely water. The pool vibes & entertainment was also nice, with music playing all day. There's two different pools depending on the vibes you want (music or quiet).

Overall I was very disappointed with this place and would not come back again.

We had a great time. This resort was great. Definitely would come again and other Breathless resorts. The pool closes earlier than we wished (8pm) but it’s still worth it. The pool parties were a blast!
