If you like to dress nicely to go sweat your butt off while you wait for bad food this place is for you! None of the restaurants except 1 (Italian) has air conditioning or fans. So you are sweating, kids are crying because it’s 110 degrees, and your poor servers are melting having to wear their uniforms. Honestly it was torture. Don’t call yourself an “All inclusive” resort if your not going to make the dining experience at the minimum comfortable. Thankfully the room did have air conditioning so at least there was that. Our ac did freeze the 2 nd night but was told that it would come back after an hour and thankfully it did. They have an ice cream bar out side under a hut and when i got there with my kid the server apologized bc it was melting inside the freezer bc it was so hot. New management is needed. Also they better be glad i didn’t show up to their “special breakfast” aka sales pitch and they tell you to bring a major credit card. If would have shown up would have lost it with them. I speak spanish. There would have been no lost in translation of what I had experienced for the last 3 day. Do better!!!
Great hotel! Great experience!, lots of effort and hard work being done by the staff too! Shout out to Araceli the barista for making the best iced coffees!! I loved my beach front view and would definitely come back again!
We booked as a family of eight reserving four rooms. We have stayed at another Iberostar resort in Mexico previously and had a great experience. This was such a bummer and very disappointing. The front desk associate Alfredo was rude and dismissive as he checked us in. We reserved two rooms with two beds however they didnt have them available. I understand its not 'guaranteed" however we have always been accommodated before. In short, they told us we could swap two rooms the following day which never happened so the couches had to be utilized in the one bed rooms (which was all rooms) for the entire stay. Honestly although this was annoying the biggest issue was how rude they were about it. Communicating they had a lot of check ins and they were busy with customers. "We" were customers! Same type of behavior at the restaurants. We cant seat 8 people, go to the buffet. This happened every single time until we had enough and made a stink about it. Then all of a sudden they scooted two tables together. Not too difficult to do right? Do not book your excursions there because they charge $100 more per ticket to Xel Ha Park even outside of the transport. One of the worst things was at check in your "Concierge" is super friendly, shows you around, then takes you back to the lobby to pressure you into purchasing a timeshare in their VIP area. Seriously, this happened 30 minutes into our stay and he was aggressive. Once we said no he acted as if he didnt know who we were the rest of the time. There is clearly a culture of "no" at the resort, Im not sure why. Food was great, and waitstaff were super friendly but they were the only ones. We travel a lot and nothing is ever perfect, and thats ok. But you dont have to accept rudeness or just general unkindness from a resort you are paying to be at. Dont stay here, lots of other places to experience in the area that will appreciate your business.
Absolutely awful everything wrong with this place. Beach disgusting can’t even go near. Whole resort has awful smell. The food is unbearable. The staff is doesn’t speak English and is very rude. Lady for the eggs in the morning will not listen to what you want. Continuously getting severed dirty utensils, plates, cups with other liquids left inside. We found an opened spirte can in our room (we never drank that or put it there) they barely have any food. They don’t give u water they give your moldy water bottles that thousands of people have used and you have to fill it up at the water station. There is barely anyone here on our first day we saw a total of 2 people in the pools. No activities. Drinks are terrible. Room service takes about 1h to get. Our sink was clogged for 3 days no one fixed it. The shower water smells unpleasant gagable smell straight up awful with no water pressure and also doesn’t get hot. NO ONE CLEANS THE BEACH!Everything closes at 10… Do not book this place. I’ve stayed a so many places in Cuba AND HAVE HAD A WAYYYYYYY BETTER EXPERIENCE FOOD IS WORSE THEN CUBA! SERVICE IS AWFUL! DONT DO IT!
Have stayed at Iberostar resorts throughout Caribbean and always enjoyed them so when the family wanted a quick trip before school saw this resort and booked. Biggest issue has been the lack of central ac in any of the restaurants- you literally sweat while you eat. Feels like a sauna- never had this issue at other resorts. Secondly, the service, while well meaning is very hit and miss. Linch first day was great, dinner first day sat at table for 10 minutes before server even acknowledged us, second day went on excursion and came back and ordered room service. They said 30 minutes to an hour took almost two hours. Went to buffet around 830 at night because food from room service was awful and literally no food on the buffet. When we asked the server he basically shrugged his shoulders and said that was it. Mind you the buffet closes at 10. One à la carte restaurant closed for “maintenance” and our ac has to be defrosted every day for it to work in our room. Also can’t use shower and brush your teeth or flush your toilet, god forbid you want to fill up jacuzzi in your room at the same time or else you burn in the shower or cold water becomes a trickle. The resort has potential but go elsewhere until they get things right.
