The Reef 28 is a decent hotel. The rooms are very nice and spacious. It is in a good location, not beach front but a short 2 block walk to the public beach. It is right in front of the very popular 5th avenue where you can get all of the entertainment and shopping that you could hope for. There are live bands or musicians playing at several locations at night. The reason I give it only a one star review is that I caught the cyclospora infection that everyone knows originated in Mexico while I was there. At this moment there are still produce items from Mexico still being recalled. I only ate at the hotel so I know I got it there. Before I left I wrongfully assumed that they were aware of the health risks coming out of Mexico and had taken the appropriate steps to remedy the potential for illness. I was sick for 4 weeks and spent 6 days in the hospital before it was properly disgnosed and treated. My ilness started 3 days after I got home and according to medical personnel, all of the time lines fit for me having contracted it there. When I told the hotel representatives about it they claim that they conducted a thorough investigtion (yea blah blah blah) and found no evidence of anyone else getting infected. Of course they will say that. If I can't prove it why would they admit to it? Anyway, I never go back to this hotel and highly doubt that I will visit Mexico again. Go at your own risk
We had Ana amazing experience at the rooftop 28 with Freddy as our server! He was excellent. The music, food and drinks were absolutely amazing and we would recommend anyone to come visit Freddy at the Rooftop 28
