I love royal sands! I have been coming with my family for a couple of years and we always come back. I want to give a special shout out to Kevin Dominguez, the supervisor. Very attentive, polite and professional.
We’ve been coming to the Royal Sands for years as owners. The resort, amenities, and friendliness and hospitality of the staff is as wonderful as it has been. However, the resort is losing the “family” feel that used to make it feel like “home”. You used to be met with “Welcome Home” on arrival, now you’re hit with “Come to a sales presentation”. There’s a noticeable shift if priority from family/member focus to a sales/growth focus. I get it, that’s why HIVC purchased the properties, and to non members the changes are not noticeable. But, as a long time member, we’re starting to see the changes. We’ll continue to come based on the resort and the staff hospitality and hope the atmosphere becomes more inviting.
Not worth the value you pay for. Some staff members were really rude, the amenities are old style and the food wasn't that great. I won't go back and don't recommend it, specially for the price we paid for. The rooms are spacious and nice though.
Great place to spend with family and friends. Friendly staff always polite and cleanliness is awesome. Resort as a whole looks amazing as it did 25 years ago.
This year marked our 20th year of going to the Royal Sands. Of course, things have changed over the years, especially since Holiday Inn has taken over but overall, a good experience again this year. We did the all-inclusive and must admit the food is marginal at best; the Bistro was our favorite, and Sisal was our least favorite. What really makes this place is the staff, very hard workers and for the most part everyone we encountered was very friendly. Special shout out to Pedro at the Phase 2 pool bar, always smiling and always remembered my go to cocktail and Kevin Dominguez at Sidelines sports bar, you guys rock!!
