SMOKE FREE PROPERTY
This was the second time my husband visited Sun Palace this year. We were there last week celebrating our anniversary. We chose to go back, because we liked the small resort feel and quick access to a pool and beach. We have stayed in the honeymoon suite both times, and we have appreciated the quietness of that floor. The room is a great size, and we enjoyed having a spa tub. We really also appreciate that they try hard to clean/rake sargassum off the beach. We don’t take this for granted, as we looked over at other hotels’ beaches and saw how much sargassum there was.
We had a couple of unfortunate experiences at two of the restaurants. This hotel company has a membership program, and we felt that we were being sidelined for the members. The honeymoon suite is not inexpensive, and thought we deserved better service. After word of our dissatisfaction got to Angeles, the restaurants supervisor, she went above and beyond to make sure we were made to feel more comfortable and satisfied. She arranged a special dinner at Thai, where we were treated wonderfully. Chef Julio came and spoke with us and prepared us a delicious dinner which he curated himself. Francisco, our server, was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Angeles came and checked in on us several times to make sure we were enjoying our dinner. Angeles was very concerned about erasing our bad experience and replacing it with a positive and pleasant one. She even had the restaurants manager, (sorry, can’t remember her name) come and speak to us. She also was very apologetic. I have to mention the young people at the coffee shop, Eliseo, Daniel, and Laura. They are sweet people serving sweet treats with a big smile. Angeles heard that my husband liked strawberry shakes, and she had them make one for him and was delivered to us after our dinner at the Thai restaurant. Laura, a very talented artist, made a very cute drawing of my husband and me on the cup. Thank you Angeles, Chef Julio.
We had breakfast four times at Aurora. Our servers, Jorge, Eduardo, and Jesus hustle and give fantastic service. Luis, the restaurant manager, asked if we would like anything special that wasn’t already included in the buffet. I asked for Red Chilaquiles and he had them especially made for us.
We have to mention Daniel, Sara, Filpo, and Silvio. They would always serve us with smile. They have always made us feel like Diamond members. Especially Silvio, who has always gone above and beyond making sure we always had a beverage in hand. Silvio and Daniel surprised us with balloons on our umbrella pole, and a special chocolate treat to congratulate us on our anniversary. He even mixed several delicious and special drinks for us. He would also make sure we ate. He would offer us food and snacks without us having to ask. He is an amazing and wonderful person and server. Silvio is actually one of the reasons we went back last week.
I also have to mention Daniel, the lifeguard. He goes above and beyond making sure we are comfortable on the beach. He would make sure our umbrella was always placed in the right position to block the sun. I saw him picking up trash from the wedding reception the night before. He also gave me a handful of beautiful seashells he had collected himself. Gracias Daniel.
We really enjoyed the Cabaret and Michael Jackson show. The Michael Jackson impersonator is outstanding. All the dancers and performers are excellent.
Overall, we had a memorable time and would consider going back.
We had a wonderful time at Sun Palace. Our son asked his girl friend to marry him. And Genesis our diamond concierge took the time to help us set up a photo shoot and flowers and Champaign.
Juan in Aurora always makes our stay so very special. He is so wonderful.
Miguel in the Bar is wonderful also he always takes his time to talk and make drinks that we come up with.
My wife and I have been Palace Resort members since 2015 and our vacation this August was the best vacation experience we’ve had at any Palace resort thanks to all the great staff at Sun Palace. For those who have never stayed a Sun Palace, we find it has a warm and friendly vibe that sets it apart from the other Palace Resorts in Cancun (we love them all, but Sun has a special place in our hearts). For us a big difference is how the Sun Palace staff try to get to know their guests to make their stay special. We have also found Sun Palace being a smaller resort there are also more interactions with the other guests at the resort. It is common to walk around the resort and both staff and other guests to say hello as you tend to see the same people multiple times through the day/week, particularly if you take advantage of the many amazing activities available.
We’ve had numerous vacations at Sun Palace over the years, and it is hard to believe but it feels like every visit just keeps getter better! One highlight for us is re-connecting with numerous Sun Palace staff who have come to feel like our Cancun family. This visit we also enjoyed meeting many newer Sun Palace staff members as it has been a while since our last visit. One thing we love about visiting Sun Palace in August is seeing (from our balcony) all the sea turtles come in to lay their eggs on the beach in the evening. The biologists who are funded by the Palace Foundation collect all these precious eggs during the night by carefully digging and put them into a special area beside the resort to help protect them. Every morning, around sunrise, we walk the beach and enjoy on occasion speaking with the biologists to learn about the sea turtle protection program.
For this trip we were traveling with family and between us we were celebrating two life events, including a milestone anniversary and a birthday. Giselle Garcia from the concierge team ensured our schedule for the entire stay was perfect. She also helped to plan special dinners for our two celebrations and did a surprise room decoration. The dinning experiences we had were particularly amazing thanks to the greeters, servers, sommeliers, managers (captains) and chefs. The Captains (managers) of the restaurants were particularly appreciated: Monica (Fuego), Stev (Aurora), Laura (Thai) and Renan (Trattoria). All the meals we had by the Chef Orlando and Chef Diana were culinary delights. In addition, the sommelier service by Guillermo Nunez and Kevin was amazing. We really enjoy the new menu at Frego and seeing the tortillas being made fresh by Brenda and Roberta in Aurora ~ these two chefs are amazing to watch as they create all of the tortillas, by hand and cook them in front of the guests.
The birthday dinner was truly memorable and we appreciated all the coordination from CEO manager Heriberto Cota, Issac Garza, Monica Vieyra, Chef Mitchel Tepetlanio, Sous-chef Luis Zavaleta, Chef Roberta Canbatun, Eduardo Coyoc, Guillermo Nunez, Ryan Oregel, Laura Hernandez,

Of course, there are many staff members who we do not get to know but want to acknowledge their efforts to ensure that guests have a truly enjoyable stay. The resort is kept impeccably clean, and the chemicals in the pools are checked several times a day and are very well maintained. Towels are constantly being stocked by the pool and if you are in need of anything, the team at Sun Palace are attentive in listening to your concern and address it promptly! The staff really do go above and beyond!

The People Who Made Our Vacation So Special ❤️
My wife and I just finished an incredible week, and while the resort itself was beautiful, it was the people who made this vacation truly unforgettable.
We want to give a very special thank you to Danielle, Ivan, Jesus, and Pedro at the pool. Every day, they greeted us with smiles, took such great care of us, and made us feel like more than just guests. Their service and personalities were a huge part of why we enjoyed our week so much.
Felipe, our concierge, was absolutely fantastic. He was always there when we needed him and made everything feel easy and stress-free.
And then there was Alfredo at the bar. From the first drink to the last, he took great care of us. Those Espresso Martinis and perfectly mixed Margaritas became an important part of our vacation!
We also have to give a special mention to Alfred, the pianist. We have heard a lot of great musicians over the years, but we honestly think Alfred is the best pianist in the entire world. His music made our evenings that much more memorable.
As we were getting ready to leave, we watched the wedding party arrive and completely fill the resort with excitement and celebration. Congratulations to the newly married couple! We hope your life together is filled with as much happiness as you brought to the resort that day.
To Danielle, Ivan, Jesus, Pedro, Felipe, Alfredo, Alfred, and everyone else who took care of us this week: thank you. You weren't just doing your jobs. You helped create memories that my wife and I will talk about for a very long time.
From the drinks, the music, the pool, the laughs, and all the little moments in between, two people could not have asked for a better week.
We came here for a vacation.
We're leaving with memories and a whole lot of appreciation for the people who made it special.

As always, we enjoyed our stay. We did a weekend getaway from Friday to Monday. The resort wasn't crowded, but folks still felt the need to go down every morning, claim a lounge chair at 5 am, and not return until 11 am or 12 pm (annoying). They also leave their towels on the chairs when they leave, so folks think they are occupied when they are not. Basically, it's not much common courtesy. Fortunately, the Sun Palace has wonderful staff at the Pool/Snack Bar (Jesus, Daniella, Dino), Lobby Bar (Mike and Alfredo), Sweet & Coffee (Eric), and Aurora (Jesus).
