Disappointing experience and front desk customer service treatment for 5 start hotel
This place left a bad taste and won't be returning. Short version: The Good:
- beach area is great and spacious
- restaurant food (lunch and dinner) are fairly good
The Bad:
- treatment by front desk staff is unacceptable
- number of times they attempted to scam us is ridiculous ((not accepting reservation rate details, trying to scam yo on FX rate and charges)
- rooms and hallways are way below par for this level of hotel
- breakfast is rather poor
Long version:
- Upon arrival, right away the front desk staff tried to upcharge us for what we have already paid for. First, we were given a room that we didn't pay for. After that, they tried to upcharge us for breakfast which we already paid as part of our reservation. I showed the gentleman on the front desk explicitly the reservation that states that breakfast is included, and he dismissed it and said that we didn't (we booked directly on hotel web site, not through 3rd party). I am not sure how you can argue explicit Intercontinental email confirmation with explicit details which room and what rate we book? Took another 2 days of our stay to go back each day to front desk after breakfast restaurant brough us the check to sign. Every time restaurant told us, just sign the bill, "it is all ok", I am puzzled how they can do that at a resort like this.
- During check in, front desk tells me that they will charge my credit card in pesos. I told them that reservation was made in USD and to charge that way. Again they started arguing that that is the policy, and they must do it and I've been told 'you know you're in Mexico?". That is an absolute no, given that they would rip you off on the exchange rate extra 10%.
- After check in, we dropped the stuff in the room and went to beach and for lunch at hotel beach restaurant. To be fair, food was actually fairly good (a bit on an expensive side), but well worth it. We signed the check with our name/room number and after few minutes the manager came to us to tell us that we are not guest at the hotel and need to pay right away with cash or credit card. We left everything in our room, so were escorted out of the full restaurant like criminals to the front desk. Of course they straighten it out there, no explanation, no apologies.
Rooms are fairly basic, definitely not even close standard wise to a 4 or 5 star resort. Beach area is nice, spacious which is really good in that area , where hotels are typically squeezed and beach is really small. We had dinner at one of the hotel restaurants, and food and service were nice. It is around 10 minute walk to Cancun hotel zone but that is fairly unexciting, busy and somewhat dirty. Overall, some of the nice things of this hotel were overshadowed by a really poor front desk staff and disgusting practices to upcharge you and screw you over. I would not return to the property and would look elsewhere

Another Wonderful Visit to Paradise.
We stayed here again for five nights and six days at this hotel. The entire hotel, beach, pool, and restaurants are wonderfully clean and kept in great shape. The hotel service was exceptional. The beach location here is very clean and the water is calm since the beach faces the north side of the ocean. Safe for kids!
The food and drinks can be a little pricy inside the hotel, but you can walk across the street and find a convenience store with great empanadas, cheap beer and any forgotten essentials. We ate most nights at the multiple restaurants right across the street where $35 paid for a meal for two adults and two kids and a few beers.
This hotel is amazing and its location is a major plus. They even offer free parking for my car rental from Enterprise.
We will return for a third time especially since my ten year old loves the huge swimming pool!
Overall nice experience- has its pros and cons just depends what you’re looking for!
I had a lovely stay here recently with my boyfriend! it was our first time and we stayed in an ocean king room which was very clean with a nice view. the property is beautiful and love how it has its own private beach access. one of the highlights of our stay was our experience with Le Cap beach club. we ate 1 dinner here, 2 lunches, and were served by their staff poolside/beachfront on the lounge chairs. the food was amazing, hence why we kept coming back. their ceviche was our favorite (get the mixed one with octopus, shrimp, & catch of the day)!! would also recommend their shrimp risotto and clams. Alejandro and Daniel were standouts and always took great care of us, however, their entire staff was incredibly friendly and kind. we were not impressed with the pool bar, which was unfortunate. it was extremely slow service all 4 days we were there- when we’d walk up and try to order a drink/get acknowledged it took 20 minutes every time, they’d make our drinks pretty quick, but then it took another 20 minutes to get them to close us out (we usually prefer all inclusive resorts to avoid this long process every time you go up to get a drink). there were the same 2 bartenders working everyday we were there- an older lady and a young boy who were nice if you talked to them, but didn’t go out of their way to greet you or be friendly- so overall, not the best service. also was not a huge fan of the other restaurant, el caribeño. the food was mid at best, and most of the employees seemed like they didn’t want to be there sadly. there were birds that swarmed the inside of the restaurant constantly which was a bit irritating as well. the breakfast buffet is held here which was decent. we did try the cocktail bar in the lobby one night and had a pleasant experience there- great service and espresso martinis! one of the main highlights of our stay was our time at Ikal Spa. we had the most incredible couples massage (our first one!) by Sandra and Marcella. they were very professional, experienced, and kind. overall, the entire spa staff gave 10/10 service and we would highly recommend to everyone staying here. they even offered for us to use their amenities (hot tub, steam room, showers and locker rooms) other days of our stay, which was very nice. so we took advantage on our last day after we checked out to relax and shower after the pool before heading to the airport, which was incredibly nice. we were overall disappointed in the overall ambience/vibe of the resort being very quiet at night with no live music, dj, or late night activities. it’s very sleepy and you can tell everyone goes to bed right after dinner or goes out on the town (which is not what we like to do), so this was a bummer for us, as we usually really look for a fun lively atmosphere at our resort. I would not recommend this resort for someone who is looking for that like we were and I would not return here for that same reason. we were overall disappointed in the ambience/vibe of the resort being very quiet at night with no live music, dj, or late night activities. it’s very sleepy and you can tell everyone goes to bed right after dinner or goes out on the town (which is not what we like to do), so this was a bummer for us, as we usually really look for a fun lively atmosphere at our resort. I would not recommend this resort for someone who is looking for that like we were and I would not return here for that reason. however, if you prefer a more sleepy resort, this may be the place for you. it was very beautiful with lots of pros, it truly just depends on what you are looking for.
Relaxing pampering
The service was amazing! Daniel, Olegario, Alejandro at Le Cap were fantástica! Gonzalo at the beach bar was also wonderful. Kudos to these gentlemen!
My daughter´s birthday
This hotel is one or our favourites, it has beautiful beach, with the classic blue color of Cancun, the best beach!!
