Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah

We travelled as a family party in July-August. We had high hopes staying at this hotel for the first time as previously staying at the anantara and Sofitel which are on the same part of the palm. We booked in for 10 days half board. The hotel is lovely. Great luxurious decor, friendly staff and overall a nice feel. The rooms were great. Enough room for a family of 4. Lovely roomy bathroom. The rooms were cleaned everyday to a high standard apart from the balcony which needed more attention especially after sand storms. The swimming pool was lovely albeit a bit cold in the water but refreshing whilst experiencing very high heats. The staff around the pool are very attentive and helpful. Constantly bringing waters around to everyone to help cool off. I think the use of floaties ruins the pool slightly as there were times when they overtook the pool. The half board food was a shock to us. We were expecting high standard with a vast variety as previously seen on past review videos. The breakfast was ok for choice but lacked variety of fruit, nuts, dried fruit and cereal. We’ve always had other hotels to compare to on the palm and this hotel was lacking. The dinner half board buffet was ok but again lacked variety. Indian night served 3 curries max. The kids section was 3 different pizzas every night of the 10 days. Would have been nice to see some pasta, chips, chicken/fish nuggets. If your child was gluten or diary free there would have been a problem. We resorted in using the half board option at lunch in the restaurant around the pool. The food here was fantastic and you have 175 aed to use which goes quite far. One thing I will point out at this point is on check in make sure you get the children’s ages right as to how much they get to spend at lunch. In the pool restaurant twice my 14 year old was given the adults menu and told she had 175 aed to spend when in fact it was only 87.5 aed to spend as she was classed as a child even though their child price is up to 12 years old. We ended up having to make up the shortfall. Drinks in this hotel are expensive. At £14 a pint of lager it’s extortionate. The location on the palm is good. If you’re on the palm you do feel out of it but we wanted the quieter location. Overall, a lovely hotel, great rooms, helpful/friendly staff, good location but food could improve.

Waldorf!! , what a spectacular experience! The breakfast! Extremely yummy ,wide range and very helpful staff in the restaurant checking in and ensuring we are comfortable.

My star of our stay was Omar (tall Egyptian lad); he handled us with extreme professionalism made us feel very welcome explained everything with clarity he listened and answered all our questions with a smile and that made us we were very welcome to Waldorf! He called us after we checked in to check if we were okay and if we needed anything which to me was something I’ve not experienced that much in many hotels.He is a perfect choice of front desk!well done Omar. We were treated to surprise later that night that sealed our night on day one. Rohit is such a lovely staff he serves with so much contagious joy that he made us smile too. Mac Donald and another short African lad welcomed us on arrival with so much warmth. Snoop at the beach what a helpful lad! Very swift to help,very handy especially in the summer at the beach wow!👏🏾👏🏾 Hassan on our day two too , smiling so helpful and asking how we felt that day and asking if we needed help was so kind of him. Ajuna house keeping 👏🏾. Mani , askay,kusum thank you so much for making our stay a memorable experience! Simon even on our day as we departed thanked us for staying at Waldorf and told us he was welcoming us to come back again! (Never had any hotel in along time thank me for staying with them as I left the hotel!) that was very catchy and very good gesture. Looking forward to be back at Waldorf because these mentioned staff made us feel like this was our second home. Kudos Waldorf your staff are making sure we keep coming back!

Special recognition to Rachel and Hanna for their outstanding care and enthusiasm at the Kids Club. They made excellent use of the wonderful facilities and activities, ensuring every child felt welcomed, engaged, and had an amazing time.
