Have stayed in Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche a couple of times and had the worst experience - also posting this review directly on TripAdvisor as I’ve not received the feedback email.
Recommended my friends to stay here cos he’s an Accor gold member, and I also joined him after staying in Conrad Abu Dhabi for the nights prior. Dropped by in the morning to drop off my luggages and to check if my room could be placed somewhere closer to my friend’s which couldn’t be facilitated as mine’s been upgraded to the club floor on the 24th, but she managed to move their booking to the 23rd to which I’m very grateful.
Returned at night to check in and was attended by another female staff, who: Didn’t acknowledge my membership (welcome back/thanks for being a member); Didn’t offer any upgrade based on my platinum status, nor mentioned any other benefits eg breakfast; Didn’t offer any assistance with my luggage and when I showed her the card for luggage collection, she simply directed me to collect them from the concierge myself (as comparison, her colleague escorted me to the concierge and personally helped me to deposit my belongs)
It was after 7pm and I was also told to wait for 5 more minutes as the room wasn’t ready.
I tried to explain to her of the conversation I had in the morning, which didn’t seem to interest her.
Checked into my room, with no welcome platter nor guest name on the screen like it used to, I thought there must have been a genuine mistake, so I returned to her before heading out for dinner to check if my membership was correctly reflected in the booking (feeling extremely embarrassed myself like I’m some kind of a better) - it seemed to have worked and she decided to check with her supervisor, who was assisting another guest at the time so I left for dinner without waiting further, thinking that by the time I returned she should’ve worked things out.
Unfortunately until my departure there was still zero trace of acknowledgement towards being a loyal customer of Accor’s from this very Sofitel and its team.
Will be retuning to Abu Dhabi in the coming week and without any hesitation, I booked my stay with Conrad, where the loyalty of Diamond members is being valued.
I first stayed in the Sofitel Corniche in 2016 when I was playing in the annual Abu Dhabi Chess Festival in August. I've stayed there every year ever since and I love it. This year I stayed for 2 weeks from 15th - 29th August. As a Platinum Accor member I was treated like a princess. I felt right at home in my beautiful suite and enjoyed swimming in the 26.8m x 12.8m pool every day.
I got a great welcome from the Front Office Manager Kirlos, who I've known for several years, and Allen and Thinn Pyunt on reception. The concierge Roshen always greeted me with a big smile whenever I passed and called me a taxi every day to go to the chess tournament. In the restaurant I was happy to see Dinesh and Pasindu again and to meet Pratibha, Hope, Susan and Thit who always served me with a smile. They brought my Earl Grey tea and eggs Benedict with salmon for breakfast every day and my cocktails during the evening happy hour.
The head chef Rizalyn made me some nice sandwiches for afternoon tea in Le Café where it was nice to meet the Food and Beverage Coordinator Handani. I was pleased that the Food and Beverage Manager Fidan came to see me in Chill'O one evening and we had a nice chat.
Charmara and Chandra cleaned my room and made my bed the way I like it. I felt welcome by everybody and am looking forward to coming back again.

Our tour guide Sari Hassan took us to Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche for lunch on a day trip around town. Excellent service, quiet ambience and amazing food. Highly recommend. Looking forward to our next trip.
We were upgraded because of our membership status. The safe was broken and it was replaced. The toilet seat was loose and the plug in the bathtub was broken. They were fixed during our stay. The plug in the bathroom sink was broken but it was not fixed. We empathize with hotels and their staff doing it tough during this period of war, but the property needs to be maintained. The skyline bar was closed. The executive lounge was not open, but alternative venues were provided for the breakfast, all day snacks and then the evening happy hour and canapes. We sat at the same table for the evening happy hour for 3 nights in a row and the table had not been wiped cleaned. On the fourth night it was cleaned. The piped music throughout the public spaces was far too loud (even the pool deck). We were so happy to retreat to our room to avoid the noise pollution. It could be a nice property, but we wouldn’t return, it is too noisy for our liking.
