Our experience at Mermaid Hotel & Club was absolutely wonderful, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The hospitality, service, atmosphere, food, rooms, and attention to detail were truly next level.
From the warm welcome at check-in to the excellent service throughout our entire stay, we were made to feel genuinely valued and cared for. Every little detail was handled with such professionalism and kindness, making our stay incredibly comfortable and memorable.
The rooms were superb — beautifully maintained, comfortable, spacious, and equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The food was another highlight. Everything we had was delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared, and the dining experience was excellent from start to finish.

This is a fairly small hotel and spa a few miles outside the main city of Kalutara, in a fairly quiet area and facing directly onto a beach. The outstanding highlight is the warm and friendly ambience created by a fabulous team of staff. Our room was sea view with a balcony, a good size and kept very clean by the housekeeping team. There were all the expected amenities, and all consumables were replenished as required. Some of the furniture was a little worn. The food, although not luxurious, was very tasty, varied and plentiful. We particularly enjoyed trying the Sri Lankan offerings, but there was also a good range of international cuisine on offer. The restaurant staff gave a first class service. The pool was well maintained with plenty of sun beds and fabulous staff on hand to assist in finding shade or sun as required. We attended aquafit which was really good. The Spa was outstanding, both in terms of value for money and the service provided. My massage from Annushka was so good I had to go back for a second visit. We were worried the hotel was too remote, but found that we were only a short walk from a good range of shops and restaurants. There were also tuk tuks readily available to take you to Kalatura if you wanted to go further afield. We had a few trips by train and local bus from there, and also booked a trip to Udawalawe with a local tour company. We had the best holiday and would highly recommend this hotel.
