Anantara Kalutara Resort

My partner and I recently visited Anantara Kalutara to explore the possibility of hosting our wedding there, as well as to reserve the Olu Restaurant for a Saturday dinner. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with a refreshing welcome drink, and the hospitality immediately made us feel comfortable and at home.

The location itself is beautiful. Set among lush greenery and surrounded by nature, the resort has a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere while still being conveniently located in Kalutara. The property truly feels like a hidden gem, with a wonderful balance of nature, luxury, and tranquillity.

During our visit, Mr. Priyantha kindly accompanied us and showed us the wedding hall and different areas of the property. He patiently shared all the information we needed for our future wedding plans and helped us understand the possibilities available at the resort. His guidance was extremely helpful as we started imagining our special day.

We then met Miss Methmini at Olu Restaurant, who took the time to explain the different menus and buffet options available. She also took us around the property and showed us the other dining venues, including Spice Traders, Acquolina, and the bar. After seeing the different options and discussing the menus, we decided to reserve Spice Traders for our family get-together.

We also decided to have lunch at Olu before leaving, and Sasupun, Methmini, Chirantha, and Maduranga took exceptional care of us. One small but very thoughtful moment really stood out to us. When my partner sat next to me at the dining area, the team quickly arranged the table so that we could sit comfortably close together. It was such a simple gesture, but it showed how attentive they were and made the experience feel very personal.

Their service throughout lunch was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We had the Garden Vegetable biryani, which had such a comforting, homely taste, followed by the New York cheesecake with berry compote and the buns served before the meal. Everything was truly delicious, and my compliments to the chef!

Later, Sajana showed us the different room categories and villas and explained the options in detail. This was very informative and gave us some wonderful ideas about how we could combine the accommodation options with our future wedding plans.

Another thing that stood out to us was the cleanliness and maintenance of the entire property. The common areas, restaurants, gardens, and facilities were very well maintained, giving the whole resort a fresh, comfortable, and premium feel.

We also felt that the resort offered good value for the experience and quality provided. With different accommodation, dining, and event options available, there is flexibility to plan according to your requirements while enjoying the standards and hospitality of Anantara.

But perhaps my favourite moment of the entire visit came after all our discussions and tours. Near the lobby garden, there is a beautiful couple swing chair, and my partner and I sat there together for a while. We simply sat close to each other and let the calmness of the nature around us sink in.

Seeing how happy she was as we talked about our future and imagined having our wedding at Anantara Kalutara made that moment incredibly special for me. It wasn't part of any planned tour or presentation, it was simply the two of us enjoying the peaceful surroundings and dreaming about our future together.

Overall, our experience was exceptional. The beautiful location, peaceful surroundings, cleanliness, food, hospitality, service, and genuine warmth of the staff made a lasting impression on both of us.

We came to Anantara Kalutara to explore our wedding plans, but we left with beautiful memories and an even stronger feeling that this could be the place where we celebrate one of the most important days of our lives. ❤️

The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, comfortable, and very well maintained. I especially appreciated the way the resort combines contemporary luxury with Sri Lankan architectural character and the influence of Geoffrey Bawa’s design philosophy.

The food was excellent, with a good variety of choices, and the restaurants provided a pleasant dining experience. The swimming pools and other facilities were also very well maintained.

What really makes Anantara Kalutara special is the staff. Everyone we met was friendly, courteous, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Their service added a personal touch to the whole experience.

Overall, it is a beautiful resort with excellent accommodation, great food, wonderful architecture, a stunning natural setting, and exceptional hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would happily return again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and luxurious getaway in Sri Lanka.
