Our stay at Taj Samudra Colombo was honestly one of the best parts of our Sri Lanka trip. I didn’t expect a hotel to make such a difference to the overall experience, but Taj really did. By the end of our stay, it felt like the hotel itself had become part of our trip, and I genuinely missed it when we came home.

The location was perfect. The beach was right in front of us, there was a mall nearby, transport was easy to arrange, and everything we needed was easily accessible. Most importantly, as three women travelling on our own, we felt incredibly safe. We were comfortable walking around in the evening as well, which gave us such peace of mind. The whole area was clean, beautiful and peaceful.

Our room was absolutely wonderful. It was spacious, spotless and had the most beautiful view. Waking up every morning and seeing that view was honestly such a lovely part of the stay. I also really appreciated how thoughtfully the room had been designed. Things like the placement of the mirrors, proper charging points, lighting, storage and the little details just made sense. Nothing felt inconvenient or overlooked.

And the bathroom was probably my favourite part. It was beautiful, spacious and so well designed. All the amenities were provided and replenished whenever we needed them, and they were genuinely so good that I ended up taking a few things home!

The cleanliness throughout the hotel was excellent. Housekeeping was great, room service was great, and we always felt that our things were treated with care and respect. We used the laundry service, went to the pool, had the buffet and made use of so many of the hotel’s facilities, and honestly, we were impressed every time.

The breakfast was another highlight. It quickly became my favourite part of the day. There was so much variety, everything was delicious, and having halal options was a huge plus for us. It was the kind of breakfast you actually looked forward to every morning. I loovvedddd the dosa I had it everyday, and the coffee and waffles yummyy!!!

But what really made the stay special was the people and the service. Everyone was so polite, warm and helpful. I especially want to mention Anushka from the concierge team, because he genuinely went above and beyond.

I had asked him for help with a day trip to another city, including tickets and transportation, and he guided us through everything so well. Since we were three women travelling alone, he also kept checking in on us to make sure we were safe and that everything was going smoothly. He made us feel like we had someone we could call if we ever needed transport, help or anything at all.

When I lost my luggage lock, he even helped arrange a replacement for me. It may seem like a small thing, but it was that kind of thoughtfulness that really stood out. He was not just doing his job, he genuinely cared about making our trip easier and making sure we were comfortable and safe. And I did reach out to him whenever I needed something, and he always figured something out. I will always remember that.

Overall, Taj Samudra was an incredible experience from start to finish. The location, the view, the room, the cleanliness, the food, the facilities and especially the service were all exceptional.

We genuinely could not have asked for a better stay.

And honestly, the fact that I actually missed Taj Samudra after coming home probably says more than anything else I could write. I would absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Colombo.
