It. Was a lovely stay, atmoywqs outstanding, rooms were good, the stay valued the price, it was clean, comfortable, amenities were good and the service was excellent. I speciallly thank Ms Devi and Ms Pariadarshi for their hospitality and support throughout our stay.
It was great experience and Lovly ambiance speacilaly the hospitality of staff is good specially I want to mention Miss Devi at breakfast and lunch . Galle Face Hotel has held a very special place in our family’s heart for decades. It is far more than a magnificent heritage hotel to us—it is woven into our family history. One of the most significant milestones was my parents’ and my uncle and aunt’s wedding, which, as we understand it, was the first twin wedding in the history of Galle Face Hotel. From that memorable day onwards, the hotel continued to be part of many important family celebrations, including several family weddings held within the walls of this beautiful and truly unique luxury hotel. With all these memories in mind, I recently returned to Galle Face Hotel with a university friend from Australia, who is studying at the University of New England. I wanted to introduce him not only to the magnificent architecture of this heritage building, but also to the remarkable history and stories that have shaped one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks. We were both genuinely amazed by the way Galle Face Hotel continues to preserve, honour, and celebrate its extraordinary heritage. Walking through the hotel was, in many ways, like stepping into a living chapter of Sri Lankan history. What made our visit even more special was the History Journey conducted by Ms. Peiris. With tremendous passion, knowledge, and attention to detail, she took us through the hotel’s incredible 161-year journey. It was fascinating to learn about the people, stories, traditions, events, and heritage that have become part of the identity of this remarkable institution. For me, the experience was particularly meaningful because so many of my own family memories are connected to this place. For my friend, it was an opportunity to discover a fascinating part of Sri Lanka’s history and heritage. Together, we came away with an even greater appreciation for the importance of preserving places like Galle Face Hotel for future generations. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that you do not have to be a resident of the hotel to experience its history. Visitors can simply come to the hotel, explore its magnificent heritage, and take part in the History Journey to gain a deeper understanding of this iconic landmark. And if you have the opportunity, I would also strongly recommend experiencing the hotel’s High Tea—it is a wonderful way to complement the journey through its history and elegance. So, the next time you find yourself visiting Colombo, make some time to visit this magnificent icon of Sri Lankan history and world tourism. Come not only to admire its beauty, but also to listen to its stories, understand its heritage, and educate yourself about the remarkable journey of a place that has witnessed generations of Sri Lankan life. Some buildings are beautiful. Some become part of history. Galle Face Hotel has managed to become both—and, for our family, it has also become part of our own story.
We regularly visit Galle Face House as it has the best view in Colombo. The food is also very good and Darshie, the front of house manager, could not do more for us every time we go. It's lovely to watch the ocean or sit in the air conditioned bars and the hotel itself has a wonderful historic feel. We visit occasionally for drinks, for important family events and we have stayed on several occasions. It's a real slice of Sri Lankan history and is definitely a must experience while in Colombo!
