The Fortress Resort and Spa

One of the best hotel stays we have ever experienced, from beginning to end. From the moment we arrived at the property until the moment we left, we received nothing short of exceptional service. Every detail came together to make our stay peaceful, relaxing, and truly unforgettable.

The staff are incredibly warm, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile. From the front desk and pool staff to the restaurant team, everyone made a genuine effort to ensure we had everything we needed. They took the time to explain the available amenities, make sure everything was set up for us, and, most importantly, consistently checked that we were having a wonderful stay.

A special mention has to go to Suban from the restaurant. He is, without a doubt, one of the best hospitality professionals we have encountered across all the hotels we have stayed at. Always carrying a warm and genuine smile, Suban made sure we were exceptionally well taken care of throughout our meals. His attention to detail was remarkable.

There were several moments when we were pleasantly surprised by how attentive he was to the smallest details. For example, if I arrived at the table with something that required a small spoon, Suban would somehow appear moments later with one — without us ever having to ask. It is these seemingly small gestures that make such a big difference.

What takes a hotel from great to exceptional is the human touch, and Suban truly embodies that at The Fortress.

The food was another highlight of our stay. There was a fantastic variety, everything we tried was delicious, and the action stations added an extra sense of energy and colour to the dining experience. We genuinely enjoyed every meal we had.

The property itself is beautiful, with excellent facilities and very clean, well-maintained rooms. And the view from the pool is simply to die for — easily one of the highlights of the property.

Our stay at The Fortress was truly one for the books. It is the kind of experience you leave remembering, not just because of the beautiful property and excellent food, but because of the people who make you feel genuinely cared for.

A truly exceptional 5-star experience — and one we would be more than happy to experience again.

Experience is good.. nice pool, jacuzzi ? Sauna .. but the rooms especially the bathrooms are old and need a renovation.

Restaurant service is really good and good is good. Irosh who served us went extra mile and excellent service which is usually hard to find in SL.

Once we left for breakfast the turn down service has made the room completely tidy and fresh. Its excellent service from house keeping.

Also special notes are the flooring in lobby area and the staircase must be made rough since due to sea breeze someone can slip and get really hurt.

Other than that I had to complain regarding the bed side drawers which almost fell on my 18 months old feet, its heavy wooden made drawes and unstable and not fixed to the wall. Hope you will immediately attend to it before a child gets hurt.

Overall experience is good and if these issues can be attended this would be one of the nicest hotels in the South.

This was my second visit to The Fortress Resort, and once again, I had a wonderful and relaxing time with my family. We stayed in an ocean-view room on a half-board basis.

I was very happy with Room 31, although I was less satisfied with Room 29. The food was good overall, but I noticed that there were fewer varieties compared to my previous visit in October 2024.

There have also been some visible changes since my first visit. One suggestion I would make is to improve the privacy around the pool area. Reinstating the wall that was there during my 2024 visit would make the pool area feel more private and comfortable.

What truly stood out to me, just as it did during my first visit, was the friendliness and hospitality of the staff. From the housekeeping team to the staff in every corner of the hotel, everyone was welcoming, friendly, and supportive. Special thanks to Ms. Himaya from the Front Office, whom I remember from my first visit, as well as Mr. Madusha. From the dining area, I would especially like to appreciate Mr. Samantha for his excellent service.

The hotel may continue to change and evolve in terms of its appearance and facilities, but I sincerely hope you continue to preserve this wonderful vibe and the warm hospitality of your staff. That genuine friendliness has been one of the things I appreciated most since my first visit, and it really makes the stay feel special.

Overall, The Fortress Resort remains a calm and relaxing place to stay, with a peaceful environment that is perfect for spending quality time with family. Despite a few areas that could be improved, I enjoyed my second visit and hope to return again in the future.
