This is a very comforting and comfortable hotel. The staff always attentive and ‘up for a chat’. The Sri Lankan food produced in the kitchen is as good as I have ever eaten. Breakfast was a choice of all things western and Sri Lankan. The resort is a little isolated, meaning that this is not the place for you if you want to step out the front gate for a walk to restaurants and shops. Then again, we made an adventure in walking to the Koggala train station ( 15 minutes) and travelling to Galle and Matara for the day.
We had an amazing time at the Fortress! The staff were the highlight and extremely friendly and helpful! The location is amazing and just on the ocean which is great! The room was huge and very clean and regularly had everything topped up e.g towels water etc.
The gym was a little outdated but everything worked, and the food was nice - the sri lankan dishes are the ones to choose! Breakfast was lovely too and the western dishes were very good e.g eggs royale etc
My fiancée and I stayed one night at The Fortress Resort & Spa and it was everything we hoped for. The resort itself is stunning, but what made the stay special was the candlelight dinner the team arranged for us. It was calm, private, and full of little touches that made the evening feel like it was planned just for the two of us.
The staff were warm and attentive from check-in to check-out. A special thank you to Gothami, who looked after us throughout our stay and made sure everything ran smoothly, and to Dimuthu, who served food with such care. Thank you also to the rest of the team who helped make the night what it was.
If you are looking for a peaceful, romantic escape, this is the place. We will be back.
